Still at breaking news stage, but BBC article will be here:

Trump ally Roger Stone convicted of lying to Congress
www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-50438196

AcrossthePond55 · 15/11/2019 17:37

Convicted on all counts, sentencing 6 Feb. Released on own recognizance pending sentencing.

Nunes is such an asshole. "Here we are again, down in the basement for more of these hearings", as if a basement is synonymous with 'nefarious goings on". "Down in the basement", Mr Nunes, as in where many of the rooms where Govt business is conducted are located?

It's going to become my new catchphrase...

"Hey Across, did you hear what XX did?"

"I did. That was really 'down in the basement', that was!"

Oh I don't know. Getting to the bottom of it, and deep-diving to find out what's really going on, seem positively appealing.

MockersthefeMANist · 15/11/2019 17:49

Time for Stone to decide if he wants to sit quiet like a good boy and hope for a pardon, or drag a few down with him.

Meanwhile, Trumpty Dumpty has toilet-tweeted in the middle of the hearing that the ambassador giving evidence, "The Woman," in his charming phrase, was responsible for everything that went bad everywhere she went. She shot those helicopters down in Mogadishu.

RhinoskinhaveI · 15/11/2019 17:56

responsible for everything that went bad everywhere she went
says mr 'all that I touch turns to shit and ashes' trump

lionheart · 15/11/2019 18:43

Yovanovich is impressive.

AcrossthePond55 · 15/11/2019 19:00

I think Stone will keep Schtum. I think he's been 'promised' a pardon and is stupid enough to believe that Scrotus' promises actually mean something.

I hope he lasts longer in jail (?) than Epstein.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 15/11/2019 19:52

Or that Trump will still be in a position to issue pardons by March when he gets sent down.

PerkingFaintly · 15/11/2019 20:09

I doubt Stone thinks Scrotus' promises are worth anything – but he may think he has enough leverage to extort a pardon.

Bet he knows where a LOT of bodies are buried (figuratively speaking, that is. Thought I should clarifyShock).

lionheart · 15/11/2019 20:25

Beware the Ides of March. I like the sound of that.

RhinoskinhaveI · 15/11/2019 20:32

when he gets sent down
it's a wonderful image but, would they?
I mean wouldnt it risk making him a martyr or something like that?

lionheart · 15/11/2019 20:42

Yanovitch was applauded at the end of that ...

cozietoesie · 15/11/2019 21:24

Ms Maddow.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 15/11/2019 22:35

Is it just me, or has someone added background music to that Maddow clip? If they have, why on earth do that?

lionheart · 15/11/2019 23:27

It's distracting.

lionheart · 16/11/2019 01:01

War crimes.

cozietoesie · 16/11/2019 10:25

.......distracting.......... perhaps. But maybe it keeps people happy. Why not ask her?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 16/11/2019 11:49

Because I don't think it was done by her: it goes on over the whole thing, the same tinkly little nonsense, even when it cuts to a different set of presenters.

cozietoesie · 16/11/2019 12:20

Sounds like the 'troops' have been at it. I'd still ask - I reckon she'd care how she was coming across.
