WIBU to move house because of this cat?

I've lived in this house for a few years now. Since day one, a cat has been hanging around. It looks healthy and well fed, clearly not a stray, but it has taken a shine to me and the house.
When I run the kitchen tap, it comes running because it hears I'm in the kitchen. When I go to the loo, it sits underneath the window shouting as it can hear I'm in there. When I turn on the light in the living room, it sits on the windowsill meowing. When I come home or go out, it's on my doorstep trying to push past me and get in.
I do not like cats. This particular one is doing my head in with its stalkerish behaviour and its constant shouting. I have tried citrus, anti cat pellets, those sprays that cats supposedly hate - doesn't work. I have used a water pistol to no avail. I have sworn at it in multiple languages - nothing.
Sometimes I need to go out but I can't be bothered pushing past this cat again. Sometimes I don't turn the light on because I can't face the shouting, or I hold my pee because I don't want it to know where I am. It feels like a blimming hostage situation.
I'm going to have to move aren't I?

You are the chosen one op. The cat has picked you as it's new owner.

I do agree with everyone that you are obviously the cat’s servant now and must pay it attention every second while you wee. But try the pint of water.

pinksoda35 · 31/10/2019 08:49

Or a pint of wee?? No?!! ;)

The one foolproof method I have found for keeping cats out of your house and garden is to get your own cat.*

If you must have a pet free household, get a super soaker. Cat will scarper then, when it sees you.

*No, it's not logical. Grin

This logic really bugs me. I'm sure it was intended as a joke here, but some people do actually believe that they are entitled to catnap any regular feline visitors who show an interest.

Findumdum1 · 31/10/2019 10:10

Cats are very contrary. It just wants to come in because you wont let it. I reckon leave the window or door open and let it come in and traipse around for a bit and it will lose interest and stop the stalking.

Our neighbours cats choose us. He's lived with us for nearly a year now - with the agreement of neighbours. I blame one of the my other cats for befriending him - he obviously told him that we're a soft touch.

He's also shouty - more so at the moment as he's been poorly and wearing the cone of shame and we've had to keep him in for a month

rubydoobydoo · 31/10/2019 13:15

This is our shouty stalker cat. Shouting at our squeaky stupid cat. Grin

I have a similar issue with wild ducks.
They have amazing hearing. They hear me open the bedroom curtains, assuming the metal rings on the metal pole. By the time I've got downstairs they are at the front door quacking loudly and will not stop until they are fed.
They return at 2pm and around 4pm and won't shut up. They are costing me a fortune in food.

Couldn't imagine moving Grin

If it’s this cat I’d move..... quickly

Cats don't shout they mew or miaow.

Tell that to my Maine Coon 😂

hoxtonbabe · 02/11/2019 08:38

The stalker cat pics are hilarious especially the ginger one, it looks like it wants to fight you for not letting it in! LOL

YetAnotherSpartacus · 02/11/2019 08:50

Go on OP - give the cat a scritch around the neck and embrace you choseness.

Sushiroller · 02/11/2019 11:13

Get those noise repellers for cats.

My In laws have them and the noise is horrendous, most adults can't hear it but I have youthful ears apparently so can and it's awful Envy

If that doesn't drive the cat away nothing will
