Looking at the shower and it's covered in limescale again. Not looking forward to spending ages sorting it out again. What do you all use? Ideally looking for something that dissolves the limescale off the glass with minimal effort Blush

Koh, brilliant stuff use it for loads of stuff. No chemical smell 😁

81Byerley · 30/10/2019 17:14

The thing that worked best for me was drying it off with a microfibre cloth after every use. But I'm lucky because we just have a glass door, so it's easy to open and clean from the outside. Every couple of weeks I clean it with normal bathroom spray.

Bagdamagus · 30/10/2019 17:16

Stardrops, has vinegar in and less than £1 from home bargains, was recommended it by a cleaner. Between that and a squeegee after most showers works lovely.

Throughabushbackwards · 30/10/2019 17:17

Citric acid is the best limescale remover I've ever come across. I learned about it from a similar MN thread some years ago!

MrsJoshNavidi · 30/10/2019 17:41

Wire wool. It doesn't scratch.

Pippa12 · 30/10/2019 18:11

For a proper good do I use the pink stuff cream (not paste) on a wet cloth and wipe gently as to not scratch the glass then go over with fairy liquid and squeegee off, it gleams! I steam it every 4 weeks or so and use method bathroom cleaner probs 3/4 times a week in between.

ginghamstarfish · 30/10/2019 18:16

When I can be bothered to do it properly I make a solution of lemon washing up liquid, bicarb and vinegar, wiped on with scrubby sponge then rinsed off.

bloodywhitecat · 30/10/2019 18:17

Squeegee after every shower, the screen is two years old I live in a very hard water area and it still looks new, every now and then it gets buffed with a microfibre cloth but not often.

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 30/10/2019 18:19

Koh! I clean everything with Koh, it’s magical.

lastqueenofscotland · 30/10/2019 18:21

I use Cif inside a dishmatic to wash it and then rinse with water.
Comes up streak free every time.
I don't have limescale though, so I'm unsure about how that would be removed.

formerbabe · 30/10/2019 18:30

Lidl limescale remover is brilliant...you can literally see the limescale dissolve.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 30/10/2019 18:33

Another fan of Koh here. I'm working through what's left of my other cleaners then I'll go completely over to Koh. It's amazing!

ginyogarepeat · 30/10/2019 18:41

I squeegee it after every use then spray with method daily shower spray. Once a week a proper going over with water and an e-cloth glass cloth. Shower doors fairly sparkling!

iago · 30/10/2019 18:50

Lidl limescale really works but is much cheaper than Viakal.

fussychica · 30/10/2019 18:55

Hard water area. Squeegee after use. Never needed anything else.

HappySonHappyMum · 30/10/2019 19:06

So I've all these wonderful suggestions to try but can anyone help me to train two teenagers and a husband so they wipe down the shower cubicle after use every time with a microfibre cloth? I would love that - but its never gonna happen Grin

twopintsprick · 30/10/2019 19:12

Koh (which I use for everything) it's brilliant stuff

Oblomov19 · 30/10/2019 19:17

I need some viakal or something!

fireplacetiles · 30/10/2019 21:02

My cleaner who probably cleans 20 shower screens a week uses fairy liquid in warm water in a spray bottle and a microfibre cloth and all the glass she cleans is sparkling!

Sharptic · 30/10/2019 21:07

Kilrock spray gets rid of it easily, it smells so strong though

51Pegasusb · 30/10/2019 21:14

Bar keepers friend or green soap. My cleaner swears by green soap fr everything !
My teens and DH also forget to wipe down the shower, so it's an ongoing battle for us..

Figmentofmyimagination · 30/10/2019 22:55

Method shower spray every day for the glass, viakal every day for the wheels along the bottom of the sliding door (this after one of the wheels actually fell off because it became so calcified, after just a year of new shower, causing a big palaver). Very hard water area. Recently also came a cropper with the washing machine - it broke down and the engineer showed me that the heating element was so calcified that it looked like one of those mummies from Vesuvius. I’m on the case now.
