Do some people really browse Mumsnet with the purpose of commenting on the use of English language and add nothing of any use to the original topic.
I have read many threads where the OP is extremely put off by some of the ‘superior ‘ attitudes of those who may be academically intelligent but emotionally stilted if their first thought is to criticise language skills rather than offer advice on the problem.

Surely everyone in need of advice should feel able to post on mumsnet without worrying about a few grammar mistakes.
Please feel free to criticise any mistakes in my post at least you’ll be leaving some other poor person alone.

StillCoughingandLaughing it's a bit thick because its not the appropriate response to the thread.
And its deliberate to put someone in their place and make them feel superior and smug.
Its thick because it lacks emotional intelligence.

WorraLiberty Absolutely correct.

Oh, and for me, guaranteed, if I ever make a snitty remark about someone's SPAG, guaranteed I'll make a real clanger of an error in that post or the next one. . .

ALongHardWinter · 30/10/2019 17:05

I think SPAG are important, but I realise and understand that not all people think so. However, the posts that really drive me mad are the ones with no paragraphs,or even worse, hardly any full stops,if any. Also the ones that pepper their post with unnecessary exclamation marks after every sentence.

Pursefirst · 30/10/2019 17:15

@ALongHardWinter, or "lol" used as a punctuation mark. That's another thing that drives me mad. Not that I would ever comment, I just move to another thread.

PortiaCastis · 30/10/2019 17:18

worra you are spot on.
Also it's very funny to see glaring errors in posts from pedants
