Holiday situation - AIBU?

Mirrors123 · 26/10/2019 14:42

6 adults go on holiday. 2 couples have nice double bedrooms. 1 couple has a twin room with two single beds and has to pay the same. Is this unfair or AIBU?

OP posts:
weymouthswanderingmermaid · 26/10/2019 14:53

Unless the rooms are significantly unequal in terms of en-suites, size etc, then you should all pay the same and draw straws for the twin.

I refused to go on a family trip a few years ago when the person organising it bagged the massive en-suite room with amazing view, and we were in a much smaller double or possibly twin, but expected to pay the same. That was just CF'ery in my opinion!

hellotabitha · 26/10/2019 14:53

I wouldn’t care tbh

KarmaStar · 26/10/2019 14:54

Can't understand why you are doing an aibu before it's even booked?if nobody wants the single beds don't book it.If they want the single beds they pay the same.

Aus84 · 26/10/2019 14:55

I would wants the singles so it wouldn't bother me. I love DH and like being in the same room as him but he tosses and turns all night so I don't often sleep well. It would be a holiday within a holiday for me.

Russell19 · 26/10/2019 14:56

Let me guess the couple proposing the idea would be in a double?

I totally get you OP but depends if any of the couples are happy with the singles.

onthecoins · 26/10/2019 14:58

Push the singles together?

Jonnylooongpoo · 26/10/2019 14:59

How ridiculous - of course it should be thirds each!

youngestisapsycho · 26/10/2019 15:00

You could push the singles together? I’d pay more to have a seperate bed from my DH!😂

Sceptre86 · 26/10/2019 15:01

Wouldn't the single beds just be pushed together? I have slept in twin beds pushed together at a premier inn and not had any issues.

northerngirl2012 · 26/10/2019 15:02

Push the single beds together. Draw lots to see who gets which bedroom?

northerngirl2012 · 26/10/2019 15:02

Or get there first and claim the largest!

horse4course · 26/10/2019 15:03

Wouldn't bother me. You can have sex in a single. Sleep better in a single. Can push them together anyway. Yabu

Morgan12 · 26/10/2019 15:03

Push the two singles together and you have a bigger double.

diddl · 26/10/2019 15:03

Are the double beds huge?

If not, there's obviously more room in a single each.

Can the singles be pushed together?

Wotrewelookinat · 26/10/2019 15:04

I’d pay extra for the the singles so I didn’t have my husband snoring in my face...

QuitMoaning · 26/10/2019 15:06

Wotrewelookinat
Oh me too. I would ask for the twin room.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 26/10/2019 15:06

no adult wants to be cramped in a single bed all week

A single is 3'. A double is 4'6". A king size is 5'. So one person has more room alone in a single than sharing a double or king-size.

Mummyshark2018 · 26/10/2019 15:07

I'd rather have 2 singles as at least my dh wouldn't be hogging the bed. I would care if there was an en suite though

BrokenWing · 26/10/2019 15:07

Ask the couples if anyone prefers the twin
Can the singles be pushed together to make a super king
Draw straws to see who gets the twin if no one volunteers

Yes it should be 3rds each.

Petrichor11 · 26/10/2019 15:08

If it’s causing arguments before you’ve even booked then just don’t book it and find somewhere that suits everyone instead

Celebelly · 26/10/2019 15:09

Yes came on to say a single to yourself is more space than half a standard double. Standard doubles are pretty small (if you have a 6ft 4, broad DP that is!). We really notice it when we stay in one now. I'd much rather have two singles! Can you not just shove them together and then enjoy your extra space and own duvet?

OctoberLovers · 26/10/2019 15:09

I wouldnt say a single bed is cramped tho..

Im bigger than average and sleep in a single bed every night, comfortably

cooldarkroom · 26/10/2019 15:10

A single bed gives each individual more room than 1 double shared,
you can push them together, & ask owner if there is a double topper ?

plus each has their own duvet, double whammy

AmIThough · 26/10/2019 15:11

You're being unreasonable. Push the two singles together if it's THAT much of an issue.

Celebelly · 26/10/2019 15:11

I feel like this holiday is already doomed though
