I just have norovirus or something but it has been going on for 5 days now with no signs of abating. I'm sleeping most of the time, when not vomiting or having diarrhoea. I've slept approx. 20 hours out of the past 24 and I'm still exhausted. Just sitting up is an effort. No pain apart from diarrhoea cramps and burning in my stomach when I drink anything.

My daughter had sepsis caused by an unknown infection and 3 weeks later guess what? Got it again. As you will know, sepsis kills and my daughter had it worse the second time, even though we caught it quicker. Don't think that lightening won't strike twice. If you recognise any of the feelings you had last time please go to hospital, shit or no shit.

Minorityreports · 25/10/2019 22:10

The fear of shitting myself for want of politer words is what's stopping me from going to A&E myself. That and the 8 hour wait............

I would ring the gas company and see if there is any way you can top up if you can’t go out.

inwood · 25/10/2019 22:11

If you've had sepsis that recently I think you need medical attention. What is The underlying condition?

Ellapaella · 25/10/2019 22:12

I think you need to try and get a stool sample if possible. Is there really no one that can go to the GP surgery and get you a sample pot?
If you are truly vomiting and having diarrhoea every hour for five days then you are at risk of dehydration.
The best advice I had from an out of hours GP when I had norovirus and was 8 months pregnant was to drink Fluids that are tepid - Luke warm. If water is too hot or cold your stomach will reject it so try drinking some tepid water.

gingerbiscuits · 25/10/2019 22:12

God, you poor thing - having such extreme D&V like this is hideous enough without being on your own, skint & fresh out of hospital for something else. You must feel very vulnerable. I really hope you start to feel better soon. I had exactly the same last Christmas & just wanted to cry for the best part of a week. XXX

Tistheseason17 · 25/10/2019 22:12

Although some of your comments have made me smile, OP, and your humour is very good - I am concerned about the length of time you have had diarhoea and the loss of control.

You may not have been sick again, but shitting water uncontrollably is not a good thing.

I'm not saying go to A&E as they really don't want Norovirus there - but can I suggest another call to 111 and speak to a clinician?

Take care and hope you start feeling better soon.

Bunnyfuller · 25/10/2019 22:12

Ambulances are not taxis. Paramedics are trained to treat emergencies, you are posting on MN, a lot, you are not an emergency.

Heart attack patient who had to wait 45 mins because previous ‘patient’ couldn’t afford a taxi.

If your D andV we’re becoming life threatening you wouldn’t know it because you would not be arsed posting vague book statuses ‘just vomited’ ‘shit myself’ ‘can’t afford’. Call out of hours doc (who will tell you to stay hydrated, even if you puke/poop a little will stay in.).

Surprised you’re allowed to live alone with a condition that you could suddenly die 🙄 they generally put something in place for that stuff, or keep you in, they’re weird like that.

Passthecherrycoke · 25/10/2019 22:14

OP has already called 111 and been advised to get done diarlyte

OctoberLovers · 25/10/2019 22:17

111 are not always good.

If i followed there advice of "Ring back if anything changes"
I would be dead.

You could very much be online and have sepsis.

Severe dehydration warrants an ambulance as you can die!!!!!

Minorityreports · 25/10/2019 22:17

BunnyBOILER. When did I say I was calling an ambulance.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm speaking (albeit shitting), and breathing, and typing, so no 999 call from me.

ClientListQueen · 25/10/2019 22:19

@Bunnyfuller not all emergencies stop you from typing on a phone. I was an emergency when I was stood vaping outside a&e and I was quite capable of typing on my phone and being on here

Nogodsnomasters · 25/10/2019 22:20

Op were you able to sip any of the coke you got at the shop yet? Or is that what made you vomit again? There must be a family member, friend or even good colleague who you could reach out to who would bring you some proper rehydration satchet or even sugar to make your own xx

Bunnyfuller · 25/10/2019 22:21

Sepsis is actually the immune system going into overdrive. It starts throwing too much at the infection and ends up doing itself a mischief.

Rest, try to keep warm and sips of clear liquid. I’m amazed you had anything in you to vomit/have explosive diarrhoea after 5 days of not eating/drinking and hourly vomiting. Something must be staying in for that to happen!

Minorityreports · 25/10/2019 22:22

Ok, I'll ring 111 again and tell them I've shit myself.
I will update you cynical bunch.

OP posts:
Bunnyfuller · 25/10/2019 22:23

@Clientlistqueen not all emergencies stop you, no, but if it’s truly life threatening you tend not to feel like it!

MrsAJ27 · 25/10/2019 22:23

@Minority this sounds absolutely awful. I honestly hope you get better soon

Minorityreports · 25/10/2019 22:23

Yup - pure yellow bile Bunny

OP posts:
Bunnyfuller · 25/10/2019 22:25

@Minorityreports

My ambulance comment wasn’t directed at you, it was commenting at suggestions from other posters for you to call an ambulance.

Quite feisty for someone so poorly, aren’t you?! ‘Bunnyboiler’. Charming.

Bluewavescrashing · 25/10/2019 22:25

You might need a drip. Get well soon Flowers

Mirrors123 · 25/10/2019 22:26

@Todaythiscouldbe and how would someone on the switchboard be able to help you?

Passthecherrycoke · 25/10/2019 22:27

Rest, try to keep warm and sips of clear liquid. I’m amazed you had anything in you to vomit/have explosive diarrhoea after 5 days of not eating/drinking and hourly vomiting. Something must be staying in for that to happen!

I totally agree with the above ^^ with noro i usually run out of food and bike within a day and will spend the rest of the time retching uncontrollably until a small amount of stomach lining is vomitted out. You’re obviously still ingesting and digesting foods and fluids to fine extent so that will help. Also as I say peeing is a great sign. It usually stops completely when I get it, the fluid is too busy flying out of every other orifice

Passthecherrycoke · 25/10/2019 22:28

Bile, not bike

whatsleep · 25/10/2019 22:28

not something you want to be doing right now but worth knowing the you can keep reinfecting yourself with nurovirus. The only way to get rid of the bug from surfaces and door handles etc is bleach cleaners. Hope 111 offer you a better solution you must be exhausted

ClientListQueen · 25/10/2019 22:29

@Bunnyfuller I just don't want to put people off going by saying if you feel fine to type, it's not a&e worthy. I had cauda equina and was definitely in the right place
