Half of a local, heavily used, road is being turned into a lorry park. If it has to be used as such, there will be a traffic jam from the South coast to London. I'm hoping sense will prevaIl and there won't be a 'No Deal let's go right now' in November but what's happening where you are?

whatafackinliberty - Please do not use that expression - I find it very offensive.

Raphael34 · 23/10/2019 07:56

Get a grip milk tray.

Raphael34 · 23/10/2019 07:56

I’ve noticed nothing at all

Camomila · 23/10/2019 08:00

I know the local council (Brighton) are being very pro-active in helping people get their settled status sorted.

We probably need it less than other towns, most of our EU citizens are 20 somethings who probably have smart phones but it still feels nice of them.

longwayoff · 23/10/2019 08:07

??? Just me and Michael Gove then? Bloody hell.

I pass the Dartford interchange /A2 fairly frequently and there are lots of signs flashing up telling lorry drivers to make sure they have the right papers for travelling after October 31st. Guess they’ll have to change the wording now though...

longwayoff · 23/10/2019 08:17

On reflection, this is quite concerning. Gammon or not, if you live in Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, look around you. It would be sensible to make some preparations yourselves as a No Deal (can't happen, fingers crossed) will inconvenience you, at best.

Nothing.

Gardai · 23/10/2019 08:23

Nothing here (except crazy DUP)

Averyyounggrandmaofsix · 23/10/2019 08:24

Nothing here, but the signs seem to be on all the motorways when they have nothing else to say.

Fucking the country over sorry.

AliceLittle · 23/10/2019 08:25

Guy from the local council came round checking who was registered to vote. That's about it.

TravellingSpoon · 23/10/2019 08:25

Just the signs on the motorways here ( down the M1 and A1).

Had a Brecit Party stall in Leicester a few weeks ago along Melton Road. Didn't seem particularly busy. It's probably the wrong area for the target audience?

mumwon · 23/10/2019 08:26

the M11 & M1 both have the signs about paperwork for some reason I don't think the M/A14 does(which is odd as the M11 is nowhere near the coast & M/A14 goes to the eastern ports - go figure?)

ConFusion360 · 23/10/2019 08:27

I've never heard it before, so had to look it up.

Boo hoo. "Gammon" labels a viewpoint (sic), not an inherent characteristic so get offended if it suits you, MIlkTrayLImeBarrel.

BezalHell · 23/10/2019 08:27

Lol @ someone getting offended by the term "gammon"!

ghostyslovesheets · 23/10/2019 08:29

Motorway notices about changes from Nov 1st and the chemist can’t get my HRT

Ponoka7 · 23/10/2019 08:30

Things have been so deprived where i live that Christmas food collections, for specific Christmas hampers, start as soon as the children go back in September. That's when they food to make up for a lack of school dinners has been done and dusted.

The second hand uniform has been distributed etc.

There's been extra put away for a no deal, things like different size nappies etc have been included, because people are going to suffer real poverty.

We've braced ourselves for the crime rate, to go up.

Are we concerned about traffic? Not really, consider yourself lucky if that's your issue.

There's a lot more for the North and deprived cities/towns to be concerned about.

Disfordarkchocolate · 23/10/2019 08:31

I live in the North, the government largely ignores us at the best of times. At the moment they probably are have forgotten we exist.

longwayoff · 23/10/2019 08:40

I haven't noticed the motorway signs but mostly just use the A31, a few miles of which near Winchester has been altered with half the dual carriageway being allocated as a lorry park. This would be for traffic arriving via Portsmouth and Southampton. There's a lot of it. Dreading it, it's a quiet road most of the time but heavily used by commuters from surrounding towns and villages. Perhaps I'm unnecessarily concerned. Local news says there may be an 'increase in dogging ' Confused. Least of my worriesSmile

OP posts:
longwayoff · 23/10/2019 08:49

Sorry Northerners, I understand your fury, the North has been ignored by successive governments for years and it's a bloody disgrace. It's not the volume of traffic, it's the fact that these lorries carry the majority of food supplies for UK. The prospect of having these loads delayed and rotting should concern us all.

Mummyoflittledragon · 23/10/2019 08:51

Just the signs on the motorway flashing that documentation requirements may change for freight from 1st Nov. Did make me chuckle inside that the government doesn’t know what the eff it is taking about.
