aibu that the people yelling outside of parliament are making the bbc news unwatchable atm?

i'd like to be informed about what's happening currently, and for better or worse bbc news is my go-to coverage. the arseholes shouting in the background are literally setting off my (diagnosed :p) anxiety disorder :(

the sound of random heckling in my home is upsetting. they should cut it out.

aibu?

It’s not unwatchable as a lot of people are watching it. Free speech and all that. If you don’t like it you can get news via the bbc app.

If they’re literally making your condition worse you’re best off not choosing to watch it.

thetardis · 22/10/2019 17:52

i can listen on the radio, but you get a broader coverage/opinion on streaming news. i could choose not to participate in the wider world at all, but i'd like it at least that i could make an informed vote if and when i next get the chance. too much to ask?

this thread is about nothing beyond how i constantly have to turn the (my preferred source of) news off atm...

i'd like to be informed about what's happening currently, and for better or worse bbc news is my go-to coverage.

Wouldn't we all like to be informed, I'm amazed you think the BBC would do this. YABU, for this alone.
Switch it off and you won't have to her it.
Perhaps your title should include wankers who complain about complainers Grin

thetardis · 22/10/2019 17:59

i answered a poll recently about perceived bias/trust in the bbc vs other broadcasters. i don't get out much :D

fwiw i couldn't help rating them higher, i blame my parents.

OP posts:
thetardis · 22/10/2019 18:00

i am complaining entirely silently

it's the shouting i find upsetting (asd)

/snowflake Grin

I don't understand why they don't do the interviews inside.

I quite enjoyed it when they decided to build a platform and the protestors just put their placards on longer sticks though Grin

cardibach · 22/10/2019 18:03

YABU
They are entitled to protest. BBC could choose to do coverage from a studio more often. You could choose another source of news.

thetardis · 22/10/2019 18:03

see, placards i'm totally fine with. i don't want people shouting in my house, it makes me nervous.

OP posts:
ForalltheSaints · 22/10/2019 18:03

BorisInAnExecutionersMask agree, though what the man shouting 'stop Brexit' is doing for a day job beats me.

cardibach · 22/10/2019 18:04

They aren’t shouting in your house. They are shouting in Westminster. You are choosing to bring the noise into your house, for quite ridiculous non-reasons.

GoodJobSteve · 22/10/2019 18:05

The man bellowing every time Mark Francois opened his mouth the other day was one of the funnier Brexit scenes, so for that alone YABU.

Twillow · 22/10/2019 18:06

Aw. Still, that's democracy for you. Never mind, it appears to be on the way out so maybe you'll be happier when people are shot for nuisance protesting.

StillRunningWithScissors · 22/10/2019 18:07

Turn on subtitles and mute the volume?

Actionhasmagic · 22/10/2019 18:08

More people should be shouting

thetardis · 22/10/2019 18:08

Turn on subtitles and mute the volume?

i can't read mumsnet and listen to the news at the same time then Grin

OP posts:
pugparty · 22/10/2019 18:10

Didn't realise we'd scrapped every other news source. YABU.

thetardis · 22/10/2019 18:11

They aren’t shouting in your house. They are shouting in Westminster.

they're shouting behind the news! on the bbc! i can't believe they're being so... un-british Grin

okay i get it, telly news isn't for my type, i need to stick to radio 4 [sigh]

OP posts:
Adoptthisdogornot · 22/10/2019 18:13

I cannot fathom why they continue to broadcast from college green. This has been going on for years! Why don't they just do it from a mobile studio or a proper studio with a backdrop or something? It's embarrassing.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 22/10/2019 18:17

I'm far more anxious about the erosion of workers rights than a shouty man. Aren't you?

Shoutymomma · 22/10/2019 18:20

YABU. Subtitles? Lower volume? Newspaper? 🙄

Wheat2Harvest · 22/10/2019 18:20

The BBC could easily film from another angle so that the hecklers are not visible. It seems to me that they want them in the footage for reasons best known to themselves.

I agree. It does detract from what is being said.

ScreamingCosArgosHaveNoRavens · 22/10/2019 18:23

I'm sorry that it's making you anxious but I have to say I applaud the sentiment.

minesagin37 · 22/10/2019 18:24

I'm more disturbed by people who don't protest quite frankly!

DorisDaysDadsDogsDead · 22/10/2019 18:25

YABU. The dreadful bias of the Government Mouthpiece is not a place to get actual news...
