aibu that the people yelling outside of parliament are making the bbc news unwatchable atm?

i'd like to be informed about what's happening currently, and for better or worse bbc news is my go-to coverage. the arseholes shouting in the background are literally setting off my (diagnosed :p) anxiety disorder :(

the sound of random heckling in my home is upsetting. they should cut it out.

aibu?

They are great, to my mind. A reminder that over 16 million people didn't want Brexit - likely more now. With no attempt made over the last 3.5 years to compromise through a soft Brexit, pro-Europeans have no representation and the press colludes in this. Individuals, like those outside parliament, who are there day in day out to represent people like me have my full support. If I didn't have a full time job, I'd join them. If you can't hear, get up to speed by reading the news instead.

I'm far more anxious about the erosion of workers rights than a shouty man. Aren't you?

i'm anxious about those in a cognitive way. i'm anxious about the shouty man in a physical way - it's not a response i have any control over, sadly.

Under the downright nasty right wing government we have now, once we're out, vocal protest will be a thing of the past.

Cheeserton · 22/10/2019 19:07

There's no obligation on the BBC to be presenting their news broadcasts in front of the noisy protests they know full well are there since a bloody long time. But they keep doing it. And you blame the protestors.

AnneLovesGilbert · 22/10/2019 19:08

Non violent peaceful protest is extremely British. As is tolerating it in good spirit.

SuchAToDo · 22/10/2019 19:09

Op if the noise is triggering your anxiety could you maybe mute the sound on those particular news stories and turn on the subtitles....then you still can watch it and get the news but it's not triggering your anxiety

I think it adds a certain atmosphere to proceedings. Steve the full time shouty man is crowd funded to be there and rents a flat around the corner to Smog which is pretty funny.

Doobigetta · 23/10/2019 18:34

I’ve met Steve the shouty man. I’m not entirely sure he’s all there, but he’s definitely harmless.
