I love the old episodes of this on ITV 3 . They really reel you in - Olivia Colman was really good as the perpetrator in an episode from about 2009 - it's interesting looking at the cast of some of these episodes - it's another series that's attracted a lot of A list actors

I'm watching Judgment Day (Orlando Bloom and the pitchfork), and the housekeeper murdered by the little girl at the beginning is played by the same actor as Mrs Bundy, the cleaner in Written in Blood

HerBigChance · 31/10/2019 22:09

Ooh I shall look out for that @MrsToothyBitch

@Cherry, the Mrs Bundy actor pops up in lots of crime dramas

PrivateSpidey · 31/10/2019 23:02

I noticed earlier that the Sky box had kindly recorded Dark Autumn for me - perfect seasonal viewing!

I can't think of the Mrs Bundy actor off the top of my head, but I love spotting all the repeat actors in Midsomer - and other programmes...

Just watched the one with new inspector Barnaby as a gardener - very disconcerting!

Also watched the one with Orlando Bloom the other day though it was a good few scenes before I recognised him.

MrsToothyBitch · 31/10/2019 23:21

I've started really noticing repeat actors in MM! Especially when they either died or "dunnit" in their first appearance- and Barnaby just pretends not to notice Grin.

OneOfTheGrundys · 31/10/2019 23:26

Ah. My people.

HerBigChance · 01/11/2019 07:49

@JasperRising Judgement Day is a great episode

ShatnersWig · 01/11/2019 07:59

I stopped watching after the first couple of "New Barnaby". Just wasn't the same. Dudgeon always seems to be acting, Nettles just "was". The last few Nettles episodes started to tail off so I think he was right to go. The real classic episodes can be watched repeatedly and still be thoroughly enjoyable and it's good to see some good actors thoroughly enjoying themselves in something slightly OTT.

Although how Jane Wymark (Joyce) ever had a career is beyond me. She's an appalling actress.

Joyce always gets really traumatised by finding the dead bodies. No idea why - she does it on regular basis. Probably overdramatises to distract others and hide evidence

MrsToothyBitch · 01/11/2019 09:25

@ShatnersWig I always thought she was a perfect Joyce; irritating. Although I have wondered if she got the role because she simply IS how someone pictured Joyce and therefore doesn't actually act..
