To ask for your recommendations on treatments to tighten the beginnings of the dreaded jowls...

Just that really.

I'm 42, not many wrinkles, but by Christ, I look like a battered handbag. Grin

I'm not overweight, nor skinny. My face just looks knackered and my biggest issue is my jawline. It is starting to age me.

I don't need lectures on being vain, as I'm not. I'm just hating how I look and just feel I look a bit battered round the edges. I just look old and baggy and would love first hand recommendations for treatments to tighten my jawline and look less haggard please.

Thanks in advance.

Yours faithfully,
Haggered Old Bat, Bucks. Blush

Watching with interest as my gran had jowls so I may head that way one day.

thecalmorchid · 17/10/2019 22:40

I'm watching this thread too. Any advice gratefully accepted.

summersherewishiwasnt · 17/10/2019 22:45

What are jowls ?

Blurby · 17/10/2019 22:49

Following. I'm from a jowly family.

GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery · 17/10/2019 22:52

You're lucky that you have to ask @summersherewishiwasnt 😆

Just slackening of the jawline. Or in my case, no jawline any more. 😄

My local clinic (that's attached and owned by my GP!) offered radio frequency zapping on jawline, but no idea if effective. Would want opinions and first hand experience of treatments.

Worst thing is using a phone for the internet. All that looking down just takes its role.

AlexaAmbidextra · 17/10/2019 22:55

I think the only effective treatment is a lower face lift.

Bellasblankexpression · 17/10/2019 22:55

CACI synergy machine the jowl lift. It’s non invasive and amazing

GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery · 17/10/2019 22:55

Here's my jawline. The jowls have started.

They aren't huge yet, but I can't see my jaw any more and it makes my jaw look wonky like Lembit fucking Opik. 😭

Cheek and midface fillers but I'd wait a bit longer yet until you start on that path. From what I can see of you in the photo, you look great.

Ursulasunderstudy · 17/10/2019 22:59

Fibroblast/plasma pen! I’m going to have my entire face done one of these days!

GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery · 17/10/2019 23:00

You're so right I reckon @gamerchick

Have you personally any before and after pics @Bellasblankexpression please?

As much as I hate my jaw @AlexaAmbidextra, not sure it's at quite that stage yet.

I'll admit I've had a tiny bit of Botox on my only forehead lines, the glabella (between brows), twice and it looks lovely and natural. No stretched shiny forehead, so I want that kind of "natural" look on my jaw too. I don't want to look plastic, just less battered. Grin

I feel your pain. I've lost weight and can see them. Please, yours are not obvious and you aren't in Lembit land!

Fairyliz · 17/10/2019 23:03

Well going on that photo you look about 25. Just scrolled back to see that you are actually 42. Don’t think you need to worry

GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery · 17/10/2019 23:04

Is that the vampire lift @Ursulasunderstudy? Any experience or pics please?

Fillers to tighten @RuggyPeg? You're very sweet. But I cringe at photos taken recently. I look aged beyond my years.

I've had a really awful year. I've lost eight people. Including my mum in sudden and difficult circumstances, I've literally aged overnight.

Aroundnabout1 · 17/10/2019 23:05

Seriously? There are 0 jowls!!! 🤣

Thisismyhappyface · 17/10/2019 23:07

I'm following with interest.
I'm trying to decide whether I should go down the filler route or not to lift everything up.
I did look at thread lifts, but they seem to get mixed reviews

justasking111 · 17/10/2019 23:07

You are fine for now when it gets serious then a lower face lift is the only fix. My friend had it done in her late fifties. WOW it was amazing.

Ursulasunderstudy · 17/10/2019 23:08

It’s not the vampire facial, it’s like a little laser that burns your skin to re-stimulate collagen production making saga and wrinkles even out. I haven’t had it done but plan to at some point. There’s loads of before and after pics on the interweb that make it really tempting!

GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery · 17/10/2019 23:09

@MissLadyM and @Fairyliz you're both very sweet.

But I feel so not confident right now and it's not looking for compliments, just help! But thank you kindly.

Take up the French Horn.
Lifts all the facial muscles.
I did it and it was like having a facelift.
You have to practise though - everyday.
So I facelift might be easier!

GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery · 17/10/2019 23:13

I look like a hamster rather that Deputy Dawg @Aroundnabout1, admittedly. But it's really affecting my confidence and I figure I should treat it sooner rather than later. Flowers

Any plans to get it soon @Ursulasunderstudy?

Thread lifts are bordering on slightly invasive -expensive- in my opinion TBH. Hmm

HIFU is meant to be good !

GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery · 17/10/2019 23:19

@DianneWhatcock that's what my local surgery offers. But isn't that radio waves near the brain?
