To feel really sorry for Prince Harry breaking down

AviationLifystyle · 16/10/2019 09:56

At the awards show. I have been a little skeptical about him recently but my heart really went out to him when I saw the footage.

I have a feeling that having a child has triggered a huge amount of unresolved grief and anxiety. Now he has this dear little boy who is at the mercy of the tabloid press, as is his wife and there is little he can do to protect him.

It's time the press laid off. This is a human being breaking in front of us.

A lot of this hatred for his wife reminds of the vitriol thrown at Dianne Abbott, people really think we cant work out the real reason.

Cerseirys · 16/10/2019 14:28

Yes @Patroclus, and Serena Williams too.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 16/10/2019 14:34

Nothing hypocritical about it. When I'm criticising any other person of note I don't feel the need to contrast their behaviour with other famous people, because specifically I'm talking about them. This tactic of dissuading attention away from the things they do by contrasting with others is only used when discussing H&M. Rarely W&K. Can I ask what makes them needful of such protected status?

It's a bit of an insult to Dianne and Serena to lump them in with Meghan tbh. They all suffer horrible racism but Dianne and Serena have achieved so much more in their lives.

I've never seen as many threads discussing the Cambridges as I have the Sussexes. There were no end of threads about Harry's throwaway comment about not having more than 2 children but I don't recall ever seeingeven one about William telling people not to have too many children while Catherine was pregnant with Louis.

The point is that they are behaving in exactly the same way as any other member of the RF. Exactly. But they- or specifically she- gets the most extraordinary level of vitriolic attack, and the couple nearest to them in the comparison stakes do not. In fact they get gooey fawning. If they were all regularly called out on the real profligacy and hypocrisy they display on a regular basis I’d be there with my bucket of brickbats. But they aren’t. And H&M

Patroclus · 16/10/2019 14:47

Ah right I get it. Racial abuse should be doled out based on what people have 'achieved'.

BertrandRussell · 16/10/2019 14:47

“ It's a bit of an insult to Dianne and Serena to lump them in with Meghan tbh. They all suffer horrible racism but Dianne and Serena have achieved so much more in their lives.”
Doesn’t matter what they have or have nor achieved. The racism is the same. And equally denied.

derxa · 16/10/2019 14:57

Ah right I get it. Racial abuse should be doled out based on what people have 'achieved'. Yes that's exactly what I said Confused No one should be racially abused at all. Not Meghan, Serena or Dianne.
My point is that Serena and Dianne are incredible pioneers in their fields and Meghan isn't.

If they do move to the U.S. and stop carrying out royal duties, I do hope they won't receive any income from the British taxpayer.

I have no idea what sort of private income/estates Harry has, but he'd need to start living off that, no public funds.

I'm sorry that he lost him Mum so young, but I've never been impressed by him. Hmm

And H&M I would agree with all of that.

PumpkinSpiceWoman · 16/10/2019 15:01

I suppose now William and Kate have provided 3 sproglets to be above Harry in terms of succcession he and Meghan can move to the USA if they wish, to be nearer her mum (but not her dad or sister ha ha).

BertrandRussell · 16/10/2019 15:01

Why does that make a difference when it comes to racism? (Diane, by the way)

derxa · 16/10/2019 15:07

Why does that make a difference when it comes to racism? (Diane, by the way) It doesn't

nannybeach · 16/10/2019 15:11

He claimed recently, the media" killed his mother, no, that was a drunk driver, and the fact she wasnt wearing a seatbelt.

Sorry- I am confused. Why is it an insult to Serena and Diane to lump them in with Meghan?

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 16/10/2019 15:28

The point is that they are behaving in exactly the same way as any other member of the RF. Exactly.

I suspect this is where the crux of the issue is. You see a lot of people perceive them not to be. I personally see them as being more wokey, publicity hungry, lacking in Royal propriety, and disingenuous, especially in balancing their desired privacy with the benefits of their privilege.
I also find their aims of changing the world somewhat grandiose and not in keeping with Royal sensibilities.

I particularly do not like H using his wife as a pretext to get back at the press. Certainly the press need some regulation, no one would disagree. But that should be a matter for the public to debate, not for a royal to use in order to prevent the press from legitimately reporting on their green hypocrisy etc or to square a perceived wrong from his childhood. If that is what they want, then it is time for them all to go.

These things cause me to focus on them specifically. I do not see them as acting in line with the rest of the Royals. I suspect it is the same for many others.

Maybe he was pissed

“ I suspect this is where the crux of the issue is. You see a lot of people perceive them not to be.”

But objectively they are. People look at the others through rose coloured glasses. Nobody can ever come up with anything H&M do that the others don’t. (Apart from not revealing the godparents) They are all as bad as each other!

This made me laugh...

Bluerussian · 16/10/2019 16:10

Pissed off more like, Lois.

Honestly, the reaction to him showing some emotion is quite extreme; I'd have probably been blubbing from start to finish but it wouldn't have made headlines because I'm not known.

He's a human being like the rest of us even if he does have more money and privilege, and I'm glad of that.

morningcoffee22 · 16/10/2019 18:25

I actually don’t understand why everyone thought he was crying, he’s clearly laughing, but obviously tried to cover it up. Bizarre to say the least.

RoseQuartzGlow · 16/10/2019 18:29

What? Nonsense!

BertrandRussell · 16/10/2019 18:30

@morningcoffee22- there’s a thread on Twitter at the moment suggesting that Meghan has a false arse. That’s not you, is it? Grin

Patroclus · 16/10/2019 18:33

She has a false bottom? have they found a priest hiding in there?
