To feel really sorry for Prince Harry breaking down

AviationLifystyle · 16/10/2019 09:56

At the awards show. I have been a little skeptical about him recently but my heart really went out to him when I saw the footage.

I have a feeling that having a child has triggered a huge amount of unresolved grief and anxiety. Now he has this dear little boy who is at the mercy of the tabloid press, as is his wife and there is little he can do to protect him.

It's time the press laid off. This is a human being breaking in front of us.

I think the idea of confessional interviews should have died a death with Diana's doe-eyed performance. They just shouldn't do them, full stop

Totally agree

bluebells100 · 20/10/2019 22:07

Im wondering if there’s more to this 6 week break than meets the eye. Maybe they’re getting sent in to exile. Wouldn’t be surprised. The queen must surely be losing patience with them.

Blingandrings · 20/10/2019 22:08

I found the documentary uncomfortable viewing. It seemed that Tom was trying to push all the time for some sort of big reveal which never came. Maybe not helped by the leaking of excerpts beforehand. I think what seems to be coming across is the that Harry and Meghan are considering leaving Britain. Maybe not for Africa, probably somewhere else in the Commonwealth. She is clearly quite miserable.
It would have been interesting if Tom had asked her for a couple of examples of things which are untrue but which the tabloids continue to run with.

Harry is still very insistent about the climate change question, rightly, but does not address the issue of why they took private jets.
I still can't understand the timing of Harry's declaration about suing the press or his criticism of the media. i has undermined the tour and I don't think this documentary will do them any favours.

Blingandrings · 20/10/2019 22:08

I also found the standing around whilst being interviewed made it seem awkward and contrived.

Blingandrings · 20/10/2019 22:10

Also very evasive on the question of a 'feud' with William.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/10/2019 22:17

Yes, the response about the reported rift with William surprised me too; instead of brushing the suggestion away he as good as confirmed it

Overall there was some good stuff in the programme but far too much self-indulgence for my taste. The bit that really rang true was Meghan saying she didn't realise what it would all be like - but the solution to that was in their own hands before marrying, and sadly they didn't take it

imalloutofideas · 20/10/2019 22:21

I think Meghan is totally paving the way for her get out of the marriage eg. "I just couldn't cope with the media harry"....
That's why harry looks so upset and stressed the whole time because Meghan says she can't live with the unfairness of it yet harry knows there's not much he can do.
All this "we're existing not living" is surely her way of getting out the marriage and her "we're taking one day at home"
And who else cringed inside out at the "i said to H"
Bleurgh she's not daft she knows EXACTLY what she's doing.
All this bullshit about her friends warning her about the British press but she never thought for one moment they "would be unfair"?!
I'm pretty certain you can get slated in the US too you know!

imalloutofideas · 20/10/2019 22:23

Yes as good as confirmed him and William aren't talking or on good terms which I thought was crazy on national tv.

imalloutofideas · 20/10/2019 22:25

Tom made out he was mates with harry so unless harry instructed the interview be done in this way then I dont think they'll be mates much longer !!!

Iamnotagoddess · 20/10/2019 22:27

Urgh I cannot stand that women she is so controlling.

BertrandRussell · 20/10/2019 22:27

“ That's why harry looks so upset and stressed the whole time“

Does he? I must be looking at a different set of news footage!

Bluerussian · 20/10/2019 22:30

I missed the first twenty minutes of the programme but will catch up with it later. I was quite impressed with what I saw. They strike me as a lovely couple who are trying to do their best, they're very natural.

Dongdingdong · 20/10/2019 22:32

Well, I defy anyone to say they came across badly in that documentary. I thought the way they shone a spotlight on the countries they visited was fantastic.

Have they made some mistakes? Yes.

Would it be a real loss if they were hounded out of the royal family when they could do so much more positive work for the causes they highlighted in Africa? Most definitely.

imalloutofideas · 20/10/2019 22:35

Let's be real they were they for 10 days. Apart from meeting people WHAT did they achieve. I don't think the programme showed that. It's easy to turn up, smile, be friendly have photo ops but seriously...

imalloutofideas · 20/10/2019 22:38

Oh and after 10 days working they now need 6 weeks off!

Dongdingdong · 20/10/2019 22:41

Let's be real they were they for 10 days. Apart from meeting people WHAT did they achieve.

They highlighted some great causes - the operation to clear the landmines in Angola and the SA charity teaching women self defence to name but two.

Blingandrings · 20/10/2019 22:43

That's why harry looks so upset and stressed the whole time because Meghan says she can't live with the unfairness of it yet harry knows there's not much he can do. Absolutely.

Yes, the 'H' stuff was cringeworthy. I do think they generally came across well and it was interesting to find out more about what they were doing in Africa, but to me it all seems very reminiscent of colonial rule.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/10/2019 22:45

I thought the way they shone a spotlight on the countries they visited was fantastic

So did I, but I just wish we could have heard more about it and less about their own angst

And while I've not really picked up on this before, I'm starting to see what folk mean about her handling Harry all the time. It really is incessant and IMO it's not at all appropriate when they're working

Blingandrings · 20/10/2019 22:48

I notice too that more often than not she answers the questions when they are put to both of them. She seemed to be shepherding him around like a mother does a child too. He looked noticeably more relaxed when he was away from her, whether because he's tense about her treatment when she's there or that he feels overshadowed by her.

bluebells100 · 20/10/2019 23:12

That trip to South Africa, which must have cost the taxpayers a fortune has hardly achieved anything, The real issues facing that country weren’t touched on. Everything was staged to make them look good.

Name12345678 · 20/10/2019 23:16

Good God. Just caught up with the programme and it felt like a royal version of the Gemma Collins show.

Whatever next? Real housewives of Windsor?

Bluerussian · 20/10/2019 23:41

Well said Dongdongdoing. I thought the programme was very good but I didn't watch it with the intention to find fault, I was pretty neutral. It was better than I expected and I'm glad of that but I have yet to see the first 20 minutes.

Mummy195 · 21/10/2019 00:38

Well, just a few hours after the documentary a broadcaster is already lying and twisting his words. Do the lies just come automatically to the media ?

twitter.com/sunriseon7/status/1185306323832856576

Glad that Greta woman was there to set them straight.

Bluerussian · 21/10/2019 01:13

I've now watched the beginning bit of the programme that I missed earlier and still have it on, sometimes you pick things up second time around that you didn't notice first off.

I think the couple came over very well and found some of it quite moving, especially the bit showing the hospital named for the late Princess of Wales

Meghan and Harry seem genuinely caring.

I don't generally go on about how people look but I did think she looked very sweet and young, like a girl rather than a 38 year old woman.

It was good that Harry said the media make something out of nothing (which they do with knobs on), with regard to the relationship between him and his brother. They care about each other, always have, but they both have other commitments so not as close as they were - however, they will always be there for each other.

I really hope the Sussex's continue to be happy together, they seem so well suited. Archie is gorgeous too!

minou123 · 21/10/2019 05:53

Mummy195

That segment is crazy. The 2 men just couldnt see what they were doing, could they? Greta was good to call them out on the lies they just spewed.
