To feel really sorry for Prince Harry breaking down

At the awards show. I have been a little skeptical about him recently but my heart really went out to him when I saw the footage.

I have a feeling that having a child has triggered a huge amount of unresolved grief and anxiety. Now he has this dear little boy who is at the mercy of the tabloid press, as is his wife and there is little he can do to protect him.

It's time the press laid off. This is a human being breaking in front of us.

It would be nice if she didn't post 'quotes' from other people to 'inspire' us though. It's just so patronising. It's not facebook.

LaurieMarlow · 17/10/2019 17:50

The polo pony stuff is repulsive, but is he the only royal doing it?

LaurieMarlow · 17/10/2019 17:52

It was well intentioned though. It was all positive, self affirming stuff. Not my thing, but plenty of people find that stuff helpful clearly.

Didn't Harry warn of the dangers of kids getting addicted to Fortnite? Not quite the same as setting up an Instagram account for publicity purposes, which is what most people in the public eye do.

Cerseirys · 17/10/2019 18:04

Meghan has also said she wants to break the internet. So why is she posting on instagram then?

Did she actually say this though?

I'm not sure if Elton John was a good friend of Diana's, they hadn't spoken much leading up to her death apparently, he just seems to be hanging on to her tragic coat tails now which is rather pathetic.

But without knowing any details, I can’t agree that accepting hospitality from EJ is an ‘error of judgement’.

If he’d been totally offensive about Diana, maybe. But far from it and surely it’s Harry’s business to engage with a family friend or not.

I find it extraordinary that people can't tell when the media is manipulating them. For years it was lazy Waity Katie, a social climber who's never done a days work in her life. Now she's hailed as some sort of cross between supermum, Mother Theresa and Monty Don! Meanwhile Meghan is cast as the villain of the piece. Look at how the story about Kate in tears at Charlotte's dress fitting (a show of emotion not uncommon in post partum women) became nasty Meghan made Kate cry. It's media bollocks and people should question it and look to the sources rather than fall for it hook line and sinker.

Cerseirys · 17/10/2019 18:11

IIRC Elton and Diana had fallen out but made up at Versace's funeral, which turned out to precede hers by only a few months.

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2019 18:13

Yes - polo is a sport for people who regard the ponies as bicycles. And any international player flies their ponies around the world. Charles in his youth, William and Harry. But only one of them gets castigated for it.
I have no idea about rhe relationship W&H have with Elton John. I do remember that he was close to their mother, because there was some tutting in the press about it at the time. W&K flew range rovers to Pakistan.
And I do think it’s a bit of a stretch to say someone who told young people they should have real connections in life as well as online ones should be criticised for having an Instagram account!

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2019 18:17

Incidentally, how many “inspirational
quotations” do you think there are on the Sussexes Instagram feed? Just a rough guess?

Thanks Wine

I haven't got time to read the whole thread just yet but I thought he was laughing, and disguised it as crying.

morningcoffee22 · 17/10/2019 18:26

People clearly want to froth and are desperate for Meghan to sneeze so they can jump on it to justify their obsessive hatred

I actually think it’s the other way round on some of these threads, people are analysing every post looking to jump on it with accusations of racism when it isn’t there. Virtue signalling imo.But “obsessive hatred”? how odd to hate someone you don’t know. To obsessively hate someone is kind of evil. It’s just simple dislike for goodness sake, and for various reasons. I should imagine anyone who “obsessively” hates Meghan has a serious problem and will certainly be few and far between.

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2019 18:30

“ It’s just simple dislike for goodness sake, and for various reasons.“

But such bizarre reasons. And almost all of them completely untrue!

Frazzledandconfused · 17/10/2019 18:31

Good for you Bertrand! The ultimate authority on what people should or shouldn't like according to your rules...

Yes definitely, he “recovered”amazingly quickly and completely dry eyed too. Why should excuses be made. In front of all those families with real worries too.

Cerseirys · 17/10/2019 18:35

@Iamnotagoddess the fawning over her garden was ridiculous! Had Meghan undertaken a similar project it would've been called self-indulgent!

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2019 18:38

“ Good for you Bertrand! The ultimate authority on what people should or shouldn't like according to your rules...”
Well not liking someone because of something they haven’t actually done is a bit odd.......

You always ask for reasons, then when someone took the time to give you some they’re “bizarre” and “untrue”. Grin

morningcoffee22 · 17/10/2019 18:50

joyfullittlehippo I don’t start threads about her either, but you can’t tar people with the same brush. Why are you scouring the Internet looking for stuff?
