To feel really sorry for Prince Harry breaking down

AviationLifystyle · 16/10/2019 09:56

At the awards show. I have been a little skeptical about him recently but my heart really went out to him when I saw the footage.

I have a feeling that having a child has triggered a huge amount of unresolved grief and anxiety. Now he has this dear little boy who is at the mercy of the tabloid press, as is his wife and there is little he can do to protect him.

It's time the press laid off. This is a human being breaking in front of us.

No threads about Kate parading her children in an attention seeking manner at Chelsea either..

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/10/2019 16:20

Wierd how he doesn’t get hassle for the things he’s really done wrong - the casual posh boy racism, the blood sports, the animal cruelty

But he does; there have been many comments about all those things on this very forum, and no doubt on others too

It's not that "weeping at the awards" is being criticised in isolation, but that it's just one more unthinking error of judgment among so many others

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2019 16:23

“ It's not that "weeping at the awards" is being criticised in isolation, but that it's just one more unthinking error of judgment among so many others”

I can’t help myself. Without mentioning private jets- name 3 “errors of judgement”

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/10/2019 16:33

I can’t help myself

Try, Bertrand, try Wink

It's all been said before after all, and is easy enough to find ... though if you really insist, the worst one in my view was marrying a woman he'd hardly had time to get to know and bringing her into a toxic situation she could hardly have foreseen

Not just risky for himself, but deeply unfair to Meghan too (and I know that's not always a popular sentiment on here!!)

morningcoffee22 · 17/10/2019 16:42

the things he’s really done wrong - the casual posh boy racism, the blood sports, the animal cruelty

Oh but he definitely has, dont be determined to look for things that aren’t there.

LaurieMarlow · 17/10/2019 16:44

That seems a bit harsh.

The worst thing he's ever done is fall in love with a woman and marry her quickly (as she was post 35 and presumably wanted kids).

Really?

Yes, he's in challenging and unusual circumstances, but why shouldn't he marry and be happy?

Apparently he'd been turned down before, so I can hardly blame him for not hanging around.

morningcoffee22 · 17/10/2019 16:46

BertrandRussell His treatment of his pole ponies is certainly not excusable. I for one have always been very vocal about it. It’s mainly the reason I don’t like him. You should stop with the paranoia about Meghan. You’re projecting stuff that isn’t there.

LaurieMarlow · 17/10/2019 16:47

I doubt he was capable of foreseeing the situation that would unfold either.

The amount of previously covert racism that has come to the fore in British society over the last few years has shocked many people.

LaurieMarlow · 17/10/2019 16:47

You’re projecting stuff that isn’t there.

You're funny.

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2019 16:49

Not entirely sure the decision to marry was all his! She was a 37 year old woman- presumably she has agency? And whatever else anyone says, they do seem very happy together.

Maybe they are, maybe William and Kate are, (see, they’ve been included) but we really don’t know that. With the royals we only see what they want us to see.

morningcoffee22 · 17/10/2019 17:10

You're funny
So are you.

BertrandRussell wrong use of word, but so what, you know what I meant.

Legomadx2 · 17/10/2019 17:24

God it was awful. So seflish in front of these families who have actually gone through a shit time.

It is all ME ME ME with those two. Sickening, it really is.

morningcoffee22 · 17/10/2019 17:28

That's 6, sorry I know you said 3, but there's so much to choose from.

I agree there is a lot, can I add one. Announcing her pregnancy at Eugenies wedding, again turning the attention onto themselves.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/10/2019 17:32

That seems a bit harsh

Maybe, but I'm afraid it's a view I stand by. Bertrand was right that the decision to marry was hardly just Harry's, but he's the one who was in a position to know how the RF works and what kind of expectations would be placed upon Meghan, which is why I believe a little less haste might have been wise

Nobody denies that racism's disgusting (including Harry's own examples outlined above) but it's surely about so much more than that. The joining of two folk from utterly dysfunctional families, with such very different backgrounds and at such speed has always seemed to me a recipe for disaster

And yes, this is one of those times when I very much hope I'll be proved wrong in the end ...

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2019 17:43

I don’t get the social media thing. He said in a speech to young people that it can be addictive and they should have real life connections as well as online ones. Why does that preclude him having an Instagram account?

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2019 17:44

“ Announcing her pregnancy at Eugenies wedding”

How do you know this happened?

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2019 17:45

@ Legomadx2 -have you read the text of his speech?

LaurieMarlow · 17/10/2019 17:46

Surely Harry’s in a better position to judge if it’s appropriate to accept Elton Johns hospitality than any of us. He was a good friend of his mother’s.

RoseQuartzGlow · 17/10/2019 17:48

Meghan has also said she wants to break the internet. So why is she posting on instagram then?

LaurieMarlow · 17/10/2019 17:48

And I don’t see any problem with the Instagram thing. Surely we’re all struggling with managing the potential ill effects of social media with the fact that it’s all pervasive (and can be a source for good too).

LaurieMarlow · 17/10/2019 17:49

The private jets have been done to death, but that’s not unusual royal behaviour.
