To feel really sorry for Prince Harry breaking down

AviationLifystyle · 16/10/2019 09:56

At the awards show. I have been a little skeptical about him recently but my heart really went out to him when I saw the footage.

I have a feeling that having a child has triggered a huge amount of unresolved grief and anxiety. Now he has this dear little boy who is at the mercy of the tabloid press, as is his wife and there is little he can do to protect him.

It's time the press laid off. This is a human being breaking in front of us.

Harry is hated because he married a mixed race woman, and she has American heritage too. Double hate-whammy. Nothing they do will be right. Racism being as sly as it is in UK = people will reach for 100s of supposed reasons to hate him when he's not at all done any worse than any other royal - But they just can't bring themselves to speak their truth. It's not the done thing here. The Daily Heil has nothing on MN when it comes to Harry and Meghan.

Absolute bullshit. So by that reckoning they can do no wrong, if anyone dares to criticise them they must be racist. Yeah right, what a great get out clause.

morningcoffee the absolute bullshit is that line of 'oh are you saying if we say anything against them we are racist'. It's so old it has whiskers on it.

Like I said - Racism is sly here. Can't stand that the man didn't marry an English Rose but racists wimp out on speaking their truth.

Its like the Emperor's new clothes. Everyone knows his arse is hanging out but he either is so dim he doesn't, or has deluded himself that no-one else can see the obvious.

Effiedg · 17/10/2019 02:07

Crikey, imagine if other members of the RF gave similar speeches whilst performing their royal duties. Can anyone imagine any others members of the RF getting tearful and discussing personal issues in public?

If Harry has issues he needs to get advice privately. After all, he has access to the best of everything and will surely get the best in this instance. In carrying out his duties as a royal, he should keep such things private and remain professional.

AviationLifystyle · 17/10/2019 03:29

I don't think H & M are above criticism and they should certainly face criticism for hypocrisy regarding climate change and their own lifestyle etc. It seems though there is a lot of horrendous trolling on twitter and in the comments sections of places like the Mail (that deliberately frames articles to attract these comments).

This level of abuse is not aimed at other Royals. We have to remember they are humans. It must be horrendous to experience that no matter how wealthy and privileged you are.

Agreed. I wonder how much of the stuff in the papers and on social media they actually read though? If I was in their position I would maybe read a few quality papers like the Times or the Guardian, but I wouldn’t touch the tabloids. I hope for their sakes they don’t search themselves on Twitter or read the comments on the Daily Mail. Does anyone think they do?

AviationLifystyle · 17/10/2019 06:16

@wondering7777 you would hope not. I think the BBC documentary by Jesy from Little Mix really made me think about that.

She had horrific abuse on Twitter and via her own social media accounts and in the comments sections online - which she did read and which made her suicidal. People somehow think the rich and famous are immune to being hurt by bullies.

“ Absolute bullshit. So by that reckoning they can do no wrong, if anyone dares to criticise them they must be racist.”
No. You list some specific criticisms that cannot be made about any other similar members of the Royal Family and I will agree with you. The problem is that nobody ever can. They are rich and entitled and should be abolished. But no more or less than any of the others. So why the awful treatment for them?

LaurieMarlow · 17/10/2019 07:35

Can anyone imagine any others members of the RF ... discussing personal issues in public?

As already discussed on this thread, Kate has talked about how difficult she found motherhood and how much she struggled. Talking about personal issues is not unique to Harry.

Now she isn’t as emotional sure, but there’s a distinct difference in personality and style.

nannybeach · 17/10/2019 08:34

They are rich and entitled, I remember reading the "new" younger royals will be changing things mixing them up. I object about being preached to about "climate change" by him, when, I have been re-cycling for over 40 years, most of my furniture comes from a charity shop, DH and I dont have a fancy mobile phone, grow most of my own fruit and veg, re-use clothes etc, used to cycle everywhere when I could (seat for small DS, bike for others) We dont have passports, have a pretty small carbon footprint, object to the squillions being spent on do up his "cottage" and Megan popping over to America to watch a tennis match. if they want to live a "normal" life, then do so, good luck, but not at my expense! How many people have a "granny" who still works full time at 93

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2019 08:47

@nannybeach- I absolutely agree.
Why do you think H&M are the worst offenders here?

Tinkerbell456 · 17/10/2019 08:57

I do feel sorry for Harry at the mo. Yes, he has access to a lot of help ordinary folk don’t but that does not =sorted. Is it true that his wife and baby disappeared with no word for two days a while ago? I saw it in a magazine ( yes I know- regarded with a healthy scepticism). That would drive a man pretty crazy surely? Just saying.

Flightlessbird17 · 17/10/2019 09:13

They put themselves out there waaaaaayy to much. Its all like planed acting and circus drama for the masses to sell people stories.

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2019 09:16

“ They put themselves out there waaaaaayy to much.”

I thought people were complaining they weren’t doing enough?

Cerseirys · 17/10/2019 09:16

Is it true that his wife and baby disappeared with no word for two days a while ago?

Probably safe to say that's bollocks...

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2019 09:18

“ Is it true that his wife and baby disappeared with no word for two days a while ago? ”
The robot baby probably needed to have it’s battery changed. Oh, and she needed to be fitted for a new false arse.

Cerseirys · 17/10/2019 09:30

No @BertrandRussell, they were clearly paying a visit to Granny Diana who didn't die and has been in hiding for over 20 years!

Burtiebojangles · 17/10/2019 09:32

It’s absolutely bizarre, the hatred for these two. I can see some validation in the climate change argument with the private jet use, but the same could be said about the Cambridge’s. Flying to Scotland, commercial or not, yet they were praised for it? They use helicopters to get to uk engagements, yet they’re stood in Pakistan saying more needs to be done about climate change - if the issue is about hypocrisy why do we say nothing about this?

Personally, I don’t care how they get about. They’re raising awareness to a very valid point, there are bigger issues than a few flights, but at the end of the day it’s also impossible to be completely economically efficient. We’d all slip up somewhere. Admittedly it’s a good life when you can slip up by ending up on a private jet, I get that. But let’s not forget, the campaign of hate started well before that.

As for this, all this work to bring mental health to the forefront, to tell us it’s okay to not be okay, yet we’re begrudging a man who’s campaigned for better mental health awareness for crying in public? That’s where this shut down culture comes from. It’s not embarrassing for a new dad to feel overwhelmed with his new understanding of what these children and parents go through. He was showing empathy with the parents and thanking them for making him aware of all that they do because it’s something he’d never find in a book. He’s lucky, for all we know, and maybe that’s where the emotion comes from because his eyes are opened to what it would be like to be in their position. But, of course, the media manipulate it in a way you suck it up that he made it about him. And then you have the batshit brigade saying he was laughing at them, Jesus Christ.

Yes, he’s privileged, he was born into this position and certainly didn’t have a choice with press intrusion. He’s doing his job, he’s got his causes that he will champion, much like any royal and, of course, that comes with coverage but there is a line that is crossed when papers choose not to focus on these causes but instead publish private letters, hack phones and print lies about their personal life. You can’t begrudge them for that, like any of us would stay quiet about our family being bullied, regardless of your position.

Also, a gentle reminder, the public purse paid £4.5 million for William and Kate’s renovations. You either care about that sort of expenditure or you don’t, but if you do, why not hold them to the same regard?

morningcoffee22 · 17/10/2019 09:55

the absolute bullshit is that line of 'oh are you saying if we say anything against them we are racist'. It's so old it has whiskers on it

I dont doubt there are people who dislike them purely because they are racist, but not EVERYONE is. Lots of people really don’t care, you can’t apply it to everyone. Otherwise we have a situation where only white people can be criticised. It’s paranoia to the extreme.

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2019 09:58

Of course people of all colours can be criticised.

The issue here is that nobody can come up with any reason why Harry and Meghan are being held to higher standards than any other equivalent member of the royal family.......

morningcoffee22 · 17/10/2019 10:04

And then you have the batshit brigade saying he was laughing at them,
I don’t think anyone said he was laughing AT them, but everyone I know said there was no denying he laughed and snorted. Maybe nerves who knows, but it was plain to see.

BertrandRussell · 17/10/2019 10:09

Does it seem even remotely possible, even to the false arse brigade that he would have laughed at a gathering of disabled children and their families?
Just think for a second.....

HarryDaylight · 17/10/2019 10:17

He faltered for a few moments during his speech, that's all. Whether he was suddenly overwhemed with emotion or simply forgot his lines doesn't really matter does it?

It didn't help that Gaby Roslin jumped forward and started holding him up FFS.
