full livery you're talking circa £500 a week for each

Jesus wept!

Really?

I thought horses just ate a bag of carrots and a tube of polo mints a day - maybe a slice of bread and a sugar lump/apple on Sundays as a treat!

Thank heavens I didn't give in to DD's begging for a pony.

Blueoasis · 14/10/2019 16:43

Bet she pays her livery fees in advance. Most places require it. Cheeky bitch.

I think you're right though op. As long as she pays and learns to pay upfront, she can still get a discount. But she has to agree to the rules. You have to work with her, a shit atmosphere makes even the best job unbearable.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/10/2019 16:44

MadameB - it's not that you're interesting - more that you're irritating.

Like nits.

Blueoasis · 14/10/2019 16:45

@SchadenfreudePersonified off topic but yeah horses cost a ton. Mine racked up vet bills of about 8k last year. That's just vet bills, not physio, food, livery etc on top.

Her horses are specialised though, and probably kept at a fancy place. You can pay a lot less, but they still aren't cheap. Definitely don't buy one. Grin

Oh giveover with the hive mind geek chorus @MadameButterface.

slightly out of step ? You just sound pissy .

PepsiLola · 14/10/2019 16:51

Surely if you are that proud and all about designer handbags/showing wealth, you wouldn't want your colleagues discussing your minor debt...

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 14/10/2019 16:52

Aww joxer it’s so cute that you’re still chatting about me

She says, as though it’s not exactly what she wants Grin

Any more pearls from your “interesting” neck of the woods madame?

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 14/10/2019 16:53

could draw such ire?

Also, what ire? Confused are you mistaking me with another poster?

Bunnyfuller · 14/10/2019 16:54

Can we not just shorten MadameB to B. Let’s stop the pretence.

We know who you are, you’re the non-paying-drink-stealing-money-holding CF!

I thought the text was fine and have frittered my public service day away waiting for updates. There’s bodies everywhere but I giveth no fucks because Mumsnet.

Mumsnet: Calling out Cheeky Fuckers everywhere.

AriadneO · 14/10/2019 16:54

I'm totally gripped!

BUT - a couple of posters upthread questioned the authenticity of the OP. Has someone checked with MNHQ that the OP is genuine?

AutumnCrow · 14/10/2019 16:54

Indeed, @PepsiLola. She (B) is drawing a lot of attention to herself and her personal circumstances.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 14/10/2019 16:54

@SchadenfreudePersonified You’d better believe it - a five star yard near me is £1300 per month per horse. And that doesn’t include everything - it certainly doesn’t include training, entries, registration fees or transport if you’re doing dressage actively. You can bet your bottom dollar that it’s paid up-front by direct debit so that people don’t do a flat leaving big bills behind (sadly not that uncommon). So if she can afford two dressage horses she can afford lunch!

BrightYellowDaffodil · 14/10/2019 16:55

*flit, not flat. Stupid autocorrect.

Rayn · 14/10/2019 16:55

It's non of her business when you pay the credit card. She is a control freak!

astridstar · 14/10/2019 16:57

@SchadenfreudePersonified
Sorry meant a month - but still a huge amount! I pay a lot less but that's because I do most of it myself

Mightlynightowl · 14/10/2019 16:58

Absolute CF of the highest degree, unfortunately when you're kind enough to help people it often bites you on the arse so I've learned (maybe I just know alot of CF's)

If it were me, I would quietly take her aside and ask her directly what all of this is about and why she has messed you around so much - out of curiosity more than anything.

Even if she does have money problems that doesn't excuse her ordering regardless, in fact that makes it 10x worse.

I doubt she would have starved had she not ordered.

Even people living in relative poverty, as awful as it is, can buy stuff beans on toast etc.

If she was struggling that badly she should have come to you discretely and explained.

I hope you get your £11 but I wouldn't bet on it.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/10/2019 17:00

Off topic I know, but I always thought "livery" referred to clothing, so that in horse terms it meant bridles, saddles, horse blankets and such rather than the whole stabling and care thing too

Shows how little I know ...

astridstar · 14/10/2019 17:01

@SchadenfreudePersonified
Sorry meant a month - but still a huge amount and that's for an 'ordinary yard' with access to an indoor school. A top notch competition yard would be about £1000 per horse a month around here! I pay a lot less but that's because I do most of it myself

donquixotedelamancha · 14/10/2019 17:07

@OP.

May I compliment you on how you are handling both your CF and your on-thread troll?

I don't think you should be as bolshy as others are suggesting. £14 is not worth giving her any cause to make you the bad guy. Your tone is fine.

I do like your appropriation of one of the most bizarre abusive posts in MN history.

londonrach · 14/10/2019 17:11

Well...op i liked yiur friendly text. You right you have to work with these people. Sounds like you know how to play this. I am like most here enjoying the ride as its more fun than watching the rain tip it outside. Fingers crossed you get your £11 back tomorrow

Ohjustboreoff · 14/10/2019 17:12

You just know tomorrow B will give it the "I'll give you the money at the end of the month". So looking forward to tomorrow now!

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 14/10/2019 17:14

Who was the abusive post to?

Pinkypurple35 · 14/10/2019 17:14

She needs telling. I’d text her to pay up the £11 right away - I also agree with :
II AM NOT YOUR BANK BITCH - I’m reading this in the style of Jesse Pinkman, which makes it all the more current, you could add a ‘Yo’ in that too Grin

DuckbilledSplatterPuff · 14/10/2019 17:20

The sheer cheek of saying she would pay the remainder at the end of the month "as usual".. I'm glad you sent her that text to clarify
I think that you did the right thing with the tone of the text, particularly if HR are going to see it. You tried to do everyone a favour by sharing your discount, but having to chase her for payment, and being expected to extend credit like a bank, with the added the accusations of bullying and financial impropriety - is awful.
I get that you are worried about sitting opposite and about the atmosphere, but I hope you don't feel pressured by her to be too concillatory as this kind of person will just see it as weakness. She's been outed and resents you for it, but at least it doesn't sound like she will get much sympathy. Its another case of trying to do something nice for a group, only to have one CF spoil it.
Just out of interest and sorry if its already been mentioned - who collects the lunches every week?
