Pointless

Am I being unreasonable in thinking people post on here for the most pointless things? For example, posting AIBU in breaking up with my cheating hubby. Well obviously not...! Do they really need to ask? Hmm
Or AIBU in asking my friend for the £1 she lent off me last week.

(I admit, this post is pretty pointless)

Disappointed , I thought we'd be chatting about Richard Osman or Alexander Armstrong...

Geneva1995 · 13/10/2019 17:41

I wish you could change the title on mums net Angry angry at myself

LakieLady · 13/10/2019 17:45

Likewise, @CormacMcLaggen!

Mrsmememe · 13/10/2019 17:45

The ones that annoy me most are people asking for advice but then don’t act on it.
There was one recently where a woman was saying she was fuming with her MiL (surprise surprise) but didn’t want to confront her about the situation. Erm, so why bother asking for advice then?

PrincessHoneysuckle · 13/10/2019 17:46

The doritos thread is a prime example yanbu

Geneva1995 · 13/10/2019 17:47

@mrsmememe basically they just want everyone to agree with them that they are right and get defensive when they don’t Grin I didn’t know it was common to hate your MIL till I joined here.

@PrincessHoneysuckle haha that thread spurred me on to write this one!

Me too. My gripe with Pointless is the people who insist on reading out loud the entire question before answering.

Ponoka7 · 13/10/2019 17:49

I think YABU.

There'll be a % of people telling any woman to not break up her family home over a 'silly mistake'.

If you've been brought up in a family were women put up and shut up, you doubt yourself.

I didn't realise i was in an abusive relationship until i came on here. My childhood had been abusive and i was well conditioned to take abuse.

There's nothing wrong with checking if you are being petty etc.

CormacMcLaggen · 13/10/2019 17:51

Completely agree. Just say 'third down' - we already know which one you mean when you say your answer.

Geneva1995 · 13/10/2019 17:51

@ponaka7 that’s missing the point though... fair enough you stay with them over a silly mistake but you are definitely NOT being unreasonable for splitting up with them. Maybe it should be reworded ‘AIBU in staying with hubby after cheating’

There’s nothing wrong with asking for advice but some of the threads on here are ridiculous.

These are the same people who sit in a restaurant and order "the pan-fried chicken breast with tarragon reduction, stilton mash and season wiled greens". There's only one chicken dish on the menu, just ask for the chicken.

BarbaraofSeville · 13/10/2019 19:06

I also thought this thread was going to be about to be TV programme.

Even though it isn't, I will still say that I am pissed off that the BBC has brought pointless forward to accommodate some shitey dancing competition thus disrupting my post work wind down routine and DP and I use the answers to Pointless to illustrate the downfall in society ergo apparently there are two people who do not know what a lion looks like, assuming that the pointless surveys are not sufficiently inclusive to include blind people or those with severe learning difficulties that.

CAG12 · 13/10/2019 19:07

The lack of self help is sometimes astounding. I feel like a lot of problems on here would be solved if some people just grew up a bit

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/10/2019 19:10

Aren’t they told to repeat the question or am I making that up?

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 13/10/2019 19:12

I think we need to ask 100 people.

CormacMcLaggen · 13/10/2019 19:13

apparently there are two people who do not know what a lion looks like

In an ep this week, only 95 or so people could identify a ladybird.

@BarbaraofSeville Pointless is back in it's 5.15 glory....I think they have shuffled It Takes Two over to BBC2

I was furious when they shifted it.

And yes, dh and I are often horrified at how low some of the answers are

And the fact that loads of people seem not to know the whole aim of the game is to get a low score.

And those that claim to know a few answers, refuse to go through the board and then give the remaining most obvious solution. Eejits.!!

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 13/10/2019 19:15

oooufff....my righteous indignation has smacked me in the face

its glory, its glory, not it's

oh the shame.

LakieLady · 13/10/2019 19:16

I'm convinced that watching Pointless and trying to get the answers is helping me stave off dementia.

CormacMcLaggen · 13/10/2019 19:19

loads of people seem not to know the whole aim of the game is to get a low score.

That's the celebs. Who have never watched a show despite appearing on it.

FYI I think it's back to its normal 5.15 slot now.

I'll just be over here, getting a life, if anyone wants me.

Rezie · 13/10/2019 19:20

Pointless is my fave quiz show. Went to the filming once. So much fun.

This thread was a disappointment Blush

BarbaraofSeville · 13/10/2019 19:38

To be fair,it did take me a while to work this out. But in my defence I never saw the start of the programme so I was unaware that the raison d'etre was some sort of reverse Family Fortunes.

I like the 'name an element that does not end in ium' ones because it makes me feel that the first I have in chemistry that I have only used in a half arsed fashion is being put to good use despite most of the pointless answers not even being discovered when I graduated.

SerenDippitty · 13/10/2019 19:38

What annoys me is when contestants clap themselves after getting a low score.

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 13/10/2019 20:15

I know a lot of z-lebs don't get it, but so many everyday contestants cock it up as well
I love a competitive celeb episode though.... Shaun Williamson is amazing.

I love the chemical rounds, I know sooooooo much more about the periodic table since Pointless. Protactinium.
