Pointless

Am I being unreasonable in thinking people post on here for the most pointless things? For example, posting AIBU in breaking up with my cheating hubby. Well obviously not...! Do they really need to ask? Hmm
Or AIBU in asking my friend for the £1 she lent off me last week.

(I admit, this post is pretty pointless)

apparently there are two people who do not know what a lion looks like

That's nothing - a team on The Apprentice couldn't tell the difference between elephants and rhinos. Grin

Rezie · 13/10/2019 20:27

I'm annoyed at the questions that are super long. I don't have brain capasity time and concentration to read the super long question and understand it. Sometimes I'm just there thinking what the he'll are they asking.

DustyWindows · 13/10/2019 20:30

I get annoyed by AA reading the question and all the options through twice. It takes bloody ages.

The Chase is a far superior game show.

Ooh, especially the missing letters ones, where he says "P-blank-T-blank-T-blank-W-blank-F-blank-L-blank-S"....

And then.... "I'll read those out again without the blanks."

?????????????!!!!!!!!!

donquixotedelamancha · 13/10/2019 20:45

Disappointed , I thought we'd be chatting about Richard Osman or Alexander Armstrong...

Did anyone catch the one with Razor Ruddock cheating on it the other night? Goodness that man is odious.

The Chase is a far superior game show.

You seem confused. The chase is the one hosted by Bradley Walsh.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 13/10/2019 20:46

Does anybody remember the episode on Roman names for European cities? Out of 100 (presumably British or those visiting or connected with) people, 96 correctly answered which modern-day city was once known as 'Londinium'.

Presumably, the other 4 were otherwise occupied having saucepan-on-head-clash fights.

Its a sad state when the best telly is quiz shows. Pointless and Countdown, as others say its really odd how seemingly obvious things get low scores on Pointless. Must admit Countdown does get the grey cells going.

BarbaraofSeville · 14/10/2019 06:13

One of the categories over the weekend was pop songs with numbers in and only about 19 people got 5678 for the Steps song. I take no interest at all in pop music and I knew the answer to that, because I think it is one of those songs that is everywhere, adverts, gym music, wedding discos, radio, just everywhere.

So when we were playing at home we discounted it because we thought it would be one of the highest scoring answers Confused.

Potato Waffles?

maddiemookins16mum · 14/10/2019 06:54

Don’t get me started on the music rounds when they play a 10 second clip and the Celebs sort of do that cringey ‘dance along’ to it.

Geneva1995 · 14/10/2019 07:11

I might have to sit down and watch an episode of pointless...! I feel left out

OP posts:
MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 14/10/2019 21:29

have you watched yet @Geneva1995 ..it's very improving :o

I know lots more about obscure countries than I used to, Cote D'Ivoire Burkina Faso, Marshall Islands

and capital cities. Tallin Valletta, Ouagadogou, Windhoek and Paramaribo

and all the new elements that were added to the Periodic table last year....and lots of others.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 14/10/2019 21:47

I love that this thread has turned into a game show thread in spite of the OP talking about something else.

Pointless is great but Impossible is better.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 15/10/2019 00:38

@DanielRicciardosSmile

Correct! You're in the head-to-head!

SerenDippitty · 15/10/2019 06:57

I get annoyed by AA reading the question and all the options through twice. It takes bloody ages.

I’ve always thought he did that to give the contestants more thinking time. Otherwise the couple who go last would have an advantage. Which they do anyway if it’s a “name as many” type question.

Heronry · 15/10/2019 07:02

I always want to know more about the 100 people. Because sometimes the stuff they know/don’t know is baffling.

QueenWhatevs · 15/10/2019 07:04

How is it possible to cheat at pointless?

Didnt it have more contestants and an extra round (and less waffle, I don't care about Gavin from Wokings am drams) when it started?

Heronry · 15/10/2019 07:08

Did it @Queen? I hate the token jobs and hobbies stuff.

Elodie2019 · 15/10/2019 07:11

I can't read the questions on the tv screen anymore. I need a bigger TV and glasses.

emilybrontescorsett · 15/10/2019 07:14

I dislike it when the question is about boxing or golf. I can't name any obscure boxers or golfers.
I also love it when a contestant has a random guess and it turns out to be correct and a very low scorer at that.

DappledThings · 15/10/2019 07:17

I don't care about Gavin from Wokings am drams)

We only watch it recorded and forward all the waffle. It lasts about 22 minutes!

GimmeBread · 15/10/2019 07:19

I wish the camera spent less time on the contestants and more time on the questions screen. How are we, the viewers, supposed to answer the question when we can't see the options?

I don't care what Janet and John look like. Angry

thebakerwithboobs · 15/10/2019 07:22

My gripe with Pointless is the people who insist on reading out loud the entire question before answering.

I hate the fact that A.A. Insists on reading all the options out twice! You've read it, we can read it! Oh and I don't know why but when Richard called him Xander it makes my teeth itch!

BertrandRussell · 15/10/2019 07:28

It annoys me on the Celebrity one when they name a massive national charity where the money will be just a drop in the ocean rather than a local one where it’ll make a huge difference. It just means they haven’t thought at all.
