It really drives me mad. You are obviously mainly famous or successful because of connections. I know some are them are talented but surely connections of parents help. David Hasslehoff's daughter has said it. Kelly Osborne, Lilly Allen and loads more.

Who are Lily Allen's parents?

Especially true when you look at the likes of Willow Smith. She's what 15?

It's annoying when they don't acknowledge the huge platform they have started from

notquiteruralbliss · 13/10/2019 16:19

Bruce Springsteen’s daughter is a very successful show jumper. She has qualified for this year’s GCT super Grand Prix in Prague, which is a huge deal.

@edgeofheaven that's simply not true. Fresh Prince of Bell Air is still a classic. Most teens watched it as kids.

Xenia · 13/10/2019 16:21

Some are famous in their own right even if they got to where they are through their parents. Most people have somethjing from their parents that helped them - good looks, being loved, high IQ, work ethic

Oblomov19 · 13/10/2019 16:22

Agree. Brooklyn Beckham's photos are dire.

Xenia · 13/10/2019 16:22

( Just watched the Robert Durst series on Sky - Jink - which is good. RD certainly had a lot in terms of money but also seeing his mother die etc which affected him)

ThatMuppetShow · 13/10/2019 16:24

Ultimately, they are making the most with what they have been given - good for them. I don't think people realise that having a famous parent is such a positive and easy thing in your life, so it's easy to pretend the kids have it easy. Unless you've been there, you don't know.

RedDogsBeg · 13/10/2019 16:27

Stella had connections and boy did she use them. Gucci, a brand famous for using leather in their designs, are absolutely banging down the doors of design students from non famous parentage who refuse to use leather in their design work.

Drabarni · 13/10/2019 16:29

My dh is famous, not in a household name, but in his field undoubtedly the leader.
My dd is gifted in the same way and she gets so upset when people say they aren't surprised at how good she is considering who her dad is.

We have 2 other children that neither share the talent or the love of it and of course dd has worked tremendously hard to get as far as she has.
It really upsets her tbh, as people don't consider her effort and dedication.

LesserofTwoWeevils · 13/10/2019 16:30

Bruce Springsteen's son is a fireman & presumably doesn't have any massive security problems. Perhaps Brooklyn Beckham could aim for something similar.

Drabarni · 13/10/2019 16:33

Whoops, forgot to say, no matter how many strings he pulls (currently, none) or the hand up she will get from a good education, it won't get her anywhere if she can't come up with the goods.

x2boys · 13/10/2019 16:34

I think it depends ,I was watching I'm a celebrity last year and Harry Redknapp was talking to Rita ( can't remember her second name but played Roxy Mitchell) about this and he escalating that Jamie (Redknapp) might have had a leg up but he had to have talent to have got where he is ,I mean none of David Beckham's sons are footballers and I bet he tried to get them noticed,And Rita is Alan Sugers Neice and she was agreeing she says people think she got in to Eastenders because of him but how could Alan Sugar get her into Eastenders ?

x2boys · 13/10/2019 16:37

Was saying not. Escalating !

Boysey45 · 13/10/2019 16:43

I honestly think Brooklyn Beckham wouldn't have got a job at Greggs if he was an everyday person. Where he is on work experience have said some very disparaging things about him. Apparently he is nowhere near the level they would usually expect and doesn't even have the basics in the field.

IcedPurple · 13/10/2019 16:51

Brooklyn’s photos were crap, but equally, he can’t just go work in Greggs as he would be swamped, it would be a security nightmare and everyone would judge him for that too.

Blame his parents for that, pushing him in front of - and later behind - cameras since practically the day he was born.

Many many famous people have children nobody knows or cares about. The Beckhams prefer to use their children to extend their 'brand' which is pretty disgraceful if you ask me.

HUZZAH212 · 13/10/2019 16:53

Plus there's the ones who don't appear to have even attempted to carve out something for themselves other than riding on their family connections. Calum Best and Bianca Gascoigne come to mind.

ExecutiveFiat · 13/10/2019 16:54

Yes, I think the general feeling around BB is that he’s not the sharpest tool.

minimomtogiants · 13/10/2019 16:58

That doesn't surprise me, haven't they had their education generally messed around with moving country several times and also being the children of apparently not very bright parents?

MonChatEstMagnifique · 13/10/2019 17:04

Yes, I think the general feeling around BB is that he’s not the sharpest tool.

General feeling? 🤔 General feeling amongst who?

Aunaturalmama · 13/10/2019 17:07

I would say over 80% of famous people are connected in some way. It’s literally ALL about who you know. I met one famous person that liked me and my life has been great ever since. It’s literally allllll connections

Aunaturalmama · 13/10/2019 17:10

Also....With children (I consider a child to be under 21), you honestly don’t think much aside from your parents views. At 18 (if you move out especially) you are just learning to be your own person apart of your family. You’re finding your own and I feel the majority of celeb kids find themselves eventually or go crazy with substance abuse.

Aunaturalmama · 13/10/2019 17:14

Sorry once that thought! Would you all not use your well connection status to better your kids life? Say if you were a film producer, and your child loved to write...would you not help them succeed in those dreams? Even if they weren’t so good at first? I definitely would do everything I could to help my kids succeed in their dreams.
Of course parents abuse power- not every persOn is a good person.

DobbinsVeil · 13/10/2019 17:14

I'm sure I read something about how modelling was traditionally the preserve of the society off-spring, (debutantes?), so there's nothing really new there.

It's also common to have families where there are lots of teachers, doctors, criminals(!) so I don't think acting/singing families are really surprising.

The ones who believe they have it harder because they have famous/well connected parents get no sympathy from me, though. And there's way too many of them!

TheSpottedZebra · 13/10/2019 17:15

But very few of these 'children of' are saying that they've not benefitted from their parents' profiles, aren't they? Most of them will be self aware enough to realise.

And surely it is our celebrity-obsessed society that has helped create this situation? If we weren't so celebrity obsessed then Ronnie Wood's children would not have been classed as models, nor would jude law's - Melanie Griffith woul never have been an actor and nor wpuld her child, Dakota thingy.
