To ask why non-parents are here?

I see posters saying they don't have any children, or want any. So if you aren't a parent, pregnant or TTC, why are you here on mumsnet?🤔

OP posts:
OldEvilOwl · 13/10/2019 10:57

Because they enjoy reading and contributing to threads? It's not all about parenting/children

ClutchinMahPurrrls · 13/10/2019 10:58

Working with children?

ThePallidBustOfPallas · 13/10/2019 10:58
Confused

What’s it to you?

NaomiFromMilkShake · 13/10/2019 10:59

Why does it matter, I have served my time on here, my DC is 18 technically I don't need MN, but I am still here.

It is in my opinion just one great big melting pot that happens to have parenthood at its core.

Unless you are advocating some sort of apartheid.

TheFlis12345 · 13/10/2019 10:59

This has been done to death. The majority of threads are not to do with kids. And there are no longer really any other decent online forums that are not parenting based or linked to a specialist subject such as gaming.

MyOtherProfile · 13/10/2019 10:59

I joined initially because I googled forums about property when we were buying a house. We didn't have children then but we found the forum really helpful for our move.

daisypond · 13/10/2019 11:01

The majority of discussions on here aren’t about being a parent at all.

bruce43mydog · 13/10/2019 11:01

Because we are all human and are interested in all aspects of human life problems. And you don't have to of given birth to have knowledge of Mumsnet

Why ????

EmpressLesbianInChair · 13/10/2019 11:02

This question has been asked so many times that it’s right at the top of the non-parents’ bingo card. Hmm

BINGO!!!!!!!

TerribleCustomerCervix · 13/10/2019 11:02

I have 2 dc now, but I first joined when I was a childless 20 year old university student after stumbling across AIBU after looking for something else on Google.

It’s a female dominated space with a huge variation in topics of conversation and opinion. I can’t think of anywhere else quite like it.

WorraLiberty · 13/10/2019 11:04

There are tons of talk topics on MN that have nothing to do with being a parent.

hopityhopity · 13/10/2019 11:06

I didn't realise this post has been done a lot!
I'm genuinely curious, working with children makes sense. Or I suppose needing advice from a specific forum.

OP posts:
JudyDenchsBloomers · 13/10/2019 11:07

Here we go..

For me it's Style & Beauty, Litter Tray, Chat and Travel as well as the useful Living Overseas forum.

thedevilinablackdress · 13/10/2019 11:08

Have you seen the range of topics??? Politics, fashion, yoga, DIY, pets, tattoos,....
Tell me another place where I could find such vibrant, diverse forum and me and all the other non-parents will go there.

PennysPocket · 13/10/2019 11:10

There are dozens of topics that have nothing to do with parenting so there's your answer.

SmileyGiraffe · 13/10/2019 11:11

I wish this question was a banning offence. It's been asked monthly since I've been here. The OP in each case is clearly incapable of a) searching the site and b) independent thought.

BikeRunSki · 13/10/2019 11:11

Interesting range of discussion on many topics from a wide and diverse audience?

ScreamingValenta · 13/10/2019 11:12

What everyone else has already said.

In real life, OP, do you only talk to other parents?

raspberryk · 13/10/2019 11:12

Plus anything you Google mumsnet comes up in the top results.

Mummae21 · 13/10/2019 11:12

Just for the record I've got two kids.. but even if I didn't wtf has it got to do with you? 🙄 didn't realise you owned MN

Butchyrestingface · 13/10/2019 11:12

I find a lot of the advice very applicable to raising my parrots. Smile

I have hardly anything to do with kids (apart from my niece & nephew when I see them) but this is also one of the biggest feminist sites around. Plus the running threads got me through my Couch to 5K.

If you look round you’ll see just how many of the boards aren’t about parenthood.

LizzieBananas · 13/10/2019 11:13

Because it’s a forum first and foremost for British women. I’ve lurked since my teens.

TidyDancer · 13/10/2019 11:13

OP has been here long enough to realise there are non-parents here too but hasn't figured out why that might be the case? Right. Hmm
