Cant believe I didn't think of asking you lot before now. Off to Blackpool tomorrow with two DC 9 and 8. What can we do that's free or cheap?

You've chosen a great time to go - the Lightpool festival is on and it's all free.

If you are up the North Pier end you can get 1 free kids meal for every adult meal bought at Coral Island. They’ve got a snack bar and a traditional chippy. Or the Tower Chippy does kids meals for £1 and adults meals are really cheap too!

Darcydashwood · 12/10/2019 07:18

Sorry Tower Fisheries it’s called. About a 5min walk from the Tower.

Buy a packet of cornflakes and get the voucher off the packet. We did the sea life center and upgraded our tickets for madam Tussaud's. £57 in total for two adults and two kids. That's a fun all day activity kids eat free on coral island where £10 worth of two ps will last hours and the kids can win tickets to swap for a prize. The stars amusements have a soft play area upstairs for £4 and it's really good. :) not free any of it bit a decent day staying out of the rain for a fairly cheap price.

I second planet radio offers. They had half price pleasure beach wristbands on the other day. Don’t know the age of the children but they have laser quest/escape rooms on the front.

We went for a week in the summer holidays. I love Blackpool but it is expensive. The Ripleys museum wasn't too expensive. We liked going down all the piers too.

It's free to go up to view the ballroom in the tower

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 12/10/2019 08:07

It’s not free to go to the ballroom - it’s £8.50, plus not really geared towards kids, all of the dancing is quite serious

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 12/10/2019 08:09

You’re right to think about what to do in advance, most of the attractions are cheaper booked in advance. We did tower eye, ballroom and circus for £30 per head and these took all day.

I'm going on Monday, are the English schools on holiday? I don't want to pay £55 for the Sandcastle if its going to be heaving.

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 12/10/2019 11:59

Most english schools range from 18th to 25th in break up days ours is 18th with 2 weeks off if it helps you plan MaHeidsGouping !

MaHeidsGouping · 12/10/2019 15:34

Thanks, hopefully should be quiet during the day.

StyleO · 12/10/2019 22:42

@TwinkleRedMoon

Was the Pleasure Beach free to walk around? I wonder if they introduced a charge this year??

monkeysox · 12/10/2019 22:47

Cinema was cheap early morning kids showings.

forgivemeimnew · 13/10/2019 08:45

There has been a charge for the last few years to just walk around the pleasure beach, however, you get a pass for this with your slimefest tickets
@StyleO
Sorry I don’t know how to tag so don’t know if this worked Blush

x2boys · 13/10/2019 08:56

We never spend much when we visit Blackpool,but we live less than an hours drive away ,we normally just take the kids on the beach ,for an ice cream,spend a few Quid in the arcade ,and bring a picnic ,the most expensive thing is parking Hmmif your staying on holiday on holiday in Blackpool and doing the attractions though I can imagine it can get very expensive !

Dementedswan · 13/10/2019 11:46

Well we had a lovely day, watched rock being made, walk along the pier and promenade. Visited the sea life centre, played football on the beach and a donkey ride. Meal at coral island and a little souvenir shopping. The dc loved the lights. I'm shattered today tho 🤣 was a very long day and we didn't get home until nearly midnight.

Cant say we will visit blackpool again, was a bit too busy for my liking. I've learnt I prefer the quiet lakes and quaint villages but it was certainly an experience and the DC had fun.
