To declare Potted Meat underrated?

Nothing better on crackers with finely sliced raw onion 👄
Don't even mention warm on toast, I can't ever only have two slices.

What do you think is the most over looked/ underrated?

It's basically pâté with a British name

Of course it rocks

MuchBetterNow · 09/10/2019 19:40

It's like dog food. Minging, gelatinous pedigree chum a like. Boak a loak 😩

moobar · 09/10/2019 19:41

Oh my late granny made the best potted meat, never tasted any other as good. One of the many, many things I miss.

ThePallidBustOfPallas · 09/10/2019 19:41

Minced snouts and arseholes. You can keep it.

Grim grim grim!

I do like a Heinz salad sandwich filler though so no judgement!

TheQueef · 09/10/2019 19:42

It is delicious!
I think pate, even beef, just doesn't have enough fat to make it as tasty.
Dog food? Nutter.

RandomFactor · 09/10/2019 19:46

Love it on toast... Beautiful stuff!

RandomFactor · 09/10/2019 19:47

@AloeVeraLynn It's like meat paste. A sort of British pate stuff...

TheQueef · 09/10/2019 19:48

Never had it! I do like pate

Mehmehmeh19 · 09/10/2019 19:52

@TheQueef
Savoury duck is the food of the gods! Fact mashed up fried a little served on toast with a poached egg on top.
I've been known to drive 20 odd miles to my preferred butchers to get some!
Also partial to potted beef on toast

vampirethriller · 09/10/2019 19:56

I love it. And dripping on toast with salt and pepper. (Only the jelly bit though)

TheQueef · 09/10/2019 19:57

I can't eat savoury duck.
When I was small I used to (and love it) but when I was told why it's called that I stopped.
Clue for any southern types, it isn't duck. Sad

I love it thickly spread with butter on white toast. But you have to leave it out of the fridge for an hour so it spreads easily.

I buy Binghams from Morrisons but I don't know if there are any other brands available. I suppose you could also make it, probably quite easily.

rslsys · 09/10/2019 20:03

Moved from Notts to Norfolk. Potted Meat not available (or even heard of) here.
Nor Tomato Sausage either . .

yawnhedehihi · 09/10/2019 20:06

I love a good potted meat sandwich!

granof3 · 09/10/2019 20:08

Mmmm to a bit of potted dog (that's what we called it when I was a lass).
Really like the tomato and beef one on a bit of fresh bread.
Also underrated in my opinion i think is corned beef.
Versatile and tasty especially when served with a bit of beetroot or pickle.
Also Spam lighty fried served in a wrap with a bit of chilli sauce;)

MaryBerriesNiece · 09/10/2019 20:09

Is this like potted hough made from the shin bone and meat?

nitgel · 09/10/2019 20:12

I used to love bloater paste but it went years ago :( was lovely with crusty bread

DeRigueurMortis · 09/10/2019 20:13

Potted beef is lovely.

I regularly make it myself - it's not difficult (takes time but it's not hands on).

Mine certainly doesn't contain any "snouts and arseholes!"

I use this recipe:

WellVersedInEtiquette · 09/10/2019 20:14

I used to love salmon paste on a butty with salad cream Blush
