What is the going rate? I have been told £60 per day plus lunch fees is reasonable but I think it is on the high end. Plus lunch costs.

We pay £65 a day in Bristol. It includes all food, nappies and wipes.

LaurieMarlow · 09/10/2019 19:24

We were quoted 100 a day for a very naice part of London.

We got a nanny instead.

adagio · 09/10/2019 19:24

£50-65 a day round here, includes food but not baby milk or nappies, that’s in Cardiff. £45-55 a day childminder. Cheaper if you head out up the valleys (jealous of friends with cheaper childcare but can’t make it work with logistics!)

DrMaryMalone · 09/10/2019 19:25

We use 2 different branches of the same small chain for our 18 month old, 4 days a week. Both in rural Scotland but number 2 is near a big university town.

Nursery 1 - £45 a day, 8-6, morning and afternoon snacks, no lunch, no nappies/wipes
Nursery 2 - £49 a day, 8-6, snacks x2 plus cooked lunch, no nappies/wipes

Our eldest also went to nursery from age 2 until school (no coming up for 7th birthday) and the price has only gone up by a couple of pounds since then. If we took 5 days I think there is a discount on the daily rate but we don’t need it.

Adding tax free childcare and it makes it sound not too bad compared to what some other posters are paying!

Central London: £109 per day.

And that's why I'm a SAHM!

butterscotchangeldelite · 09/10/2019 19:29

Located in Surrey and £85 per day.

NCBabyBoy · 09/10/2019 19:29

Warwickshire, £50 excluding nappies and formula. It's a 10-hour day, so although it's a lot of money it isn't that expensive per hour.

butterscotchangeldelite · 09/10/2019 19:29

It should have added that includes food etc.

Heymummee · 09/10/2019 19:32

I pay £44.50 a day which includes breakfast, lunch, snacks and a light afternoon tea. This covers 7:30-18:00. Provide our own nappies.

Fefifoefum · 09/10/2019 19:34

I Iive in a small town in the south west, there is only one nursery, thus they have a monopoly & charge £60 a day including food. Could travel to the more expensive city, and pay less?! But she’s happy!

TheGoogleMum · 09/10/2019 19:38

Near me I could have paid £40 per day (including food!) Or £60 a day (includes nappies, formula, food, sun cream etc). We went with what we liked best though

IdontKnow01 · 09/10/2019 19:39

£52 a day derby

Wellie89 · 09/10/2019 19:39

I'm not London, but home counties. 5 years ago it was £75/day here. I'd guess towards £100 now.
Child minders from about £7.50/hour. I did meet one who only charged £5 an hour, but I wouldn't have left my child with her... Or her massive snarling dog.

TBH you don't really want to choose the Lidl childcare option.

For me I didn't trust the affordable childcare options with my DC. But if I chose the child care I was happy with it was more than I was earning. I only stayed in work after maternity leave for as long as I had to then gave up work for a couple of years until preschool age and childcare wasn't so expensive!

definitelyshouldknowbetter · 09/10/2019 19:39

I live in Lancashire and it’s £45 per day but that includes nappies if needed and wipes, plus three meals and snacks. 8-530, you can pay £4 extra to start at 730 if needed. This also includes the trips out that they do in the mini bus to various different places, we’re very lucky really! Makes me feel a bit better about it being our biggest household expense!Grin

Brideof2020 · 09/10/2019 19:46

£39.50 per day which includes lunch and tea only, no breakfast, but does include 2 snacks.
Doesnt include nappies or wipes either.
In the baby unit, its £41.50 per day for the above.
Nursery is open 8am-6pm.
North West.

AragonsGirl · 09/10/2019 19:55

We’re £36 a day (8am-5pm), 5 days a week, with snacks and lunch. We’re in north east Scotland

FenellaMaxwell · 09/10/2019 19:58

Our nursery is more than others in the area, but it’s rated outstanding, has been run by the same person for 30 years, and the price includes all meals, snacks, nappies, wipes and ballet, music, french and forest classes.

Brown76 · 09/10/2019 20:19

Outer London - fees around £5.50-£7 per hour. Our Busy Bees is £75 incl food, other nurseries and childminders are £55-60 incl food.

Lazysundays18 · 09/10/2019 20:20

I'm in Scotland. My son's was £55 a day. That includes all food & nappies.

user159 · 09/10/2019 20:35

We're in the east near a big city and it's £59 per full day for our one year old. Food included but we do supply our own nappies. Pretty average for round here. It's been outstanding for years with a huge waiting list so we put our names down when I was pregnant.
