Ben & Jerry’s have ruined their once fabulous ice cream!!

Not had Ben & Jerry’s for months, treated myself to the heavenly peanut butter cup flavour this evening. All good? Nope it tasted really really bad. And guess what it’s full of now ?

Not just palm oil but coconut oil too!

Why???

Can’t believe they are charging the prices they do for ice cream that’s now pretty much the same as the value branded stuff.

I miss the days before food was full of shite!!

Side note - I worked with a woman who had worked at Unilever and they had a free Ben and Jerry ice cream bar in the foyer for all staff.

I’m still upset the got rid of Cherry Garcia. Why does all sweet stuff have palm oil now, it tastes like crap! Chocolate oranges are totally ruined too.

Not coconut oil, but I made ice cream using coconut cream before and it was absolutely delicious.

They haven't in the US. You can find it in any supermarket or grocery store. It's my personal favorite.

HATE palm oil, it's in everything now. Firstly because I can't help picturing all the dead and orphaned orangutans , secondly because it tastes like crap cannot have any cadburys now ffs and thirdly because it is cheaper and they have not reduced the price in line with the diminished products.

I would much rather pay more and not have palm oil.

I never liked B&J's ice cream, it always tasted funny to me.

We should start a campaign to restock Cherry Garcia over here. I had it in a shake in the States and I fell in love

We buy Kellys Clotted cream ice cream (when it’s on offer) which is gorgeous and has no palm oil. Also have an ice cream maker and a Ben and Jerry’s recipe book....home made is fab and really spoils you, but can be costly.

there are various brands (B&J, haagen dazs etc) which used to be premium (and priced that way too), which are now sold at much lower prices. What do you expect? It's loads cheaper which means the expensive natural ingredients get axed and replaced with crap. If it was still made like it used to be it would be about £8 a tub.

The recession screwed so many good products. People couldn't afford them any more, so the manufacturers did anything to cut costs and maintain revenues and they brands survived in this adulterated form

I always thought that B&J's flavours were too gimmicky, with too much "stuff" in them. I prefer HD.

But what drives me crazy is that different stores, a five minute walk apart, carry different flavours.

Plus, NO ONE LIKES THE GREEN TEA, PEANUT BUTTER, AND PINEAPPLE COCO-FUCKING-NUT FLAVOURS. THAT'S WHY THERE ARE ALWAYS TWENTY OF EACH OF THEM LEFT ON THE FREEZER SHELF AFTER THE REST HAS BEEN BOUGHT.

I thought the other day it tasted different, they have definitely changed the recipe. I had phish food and the swirls of different flavours were much less mixed together than it used to be.
I've discovered Halo Top. Not so creamy in texture but happy to sacrifice that for the yum taste and seriously less calories.

Which type of Ben and Jerry's has palm oil in? It's not on any of the ingredient lists I have.

@Celebelly seems to be? Very strange that the majority are ignoring that fact.

Basically anything sweet that used to be nice, is now horrible. Pp is right about Toblerone, once so tasty, now just sugary and flavourless. Chocolate is much more sugary than when I was little, now sugar and fat are the only real flavours. Milky Ways used to be so malty and lovely. Now just sugary.
Ice cream wise I buy Green and Blacks, or look for whatever has the shortest ingredient list.
