Eating an almond croissant (with the lovely gooey almondness inside) with BUTTER.

It's just not right.

Yanbu. It is v wrong

MovinOnUp · 04/10/2019 09:19

Wrong on multiple levels.
Now I have to get out of my pyjamas and go get an almond croissant :)

Stravapalava · 04/10/2019 09:25

Urm what? Who was this heathen?

SoftBlocks · 04/10/2019 09:29

Why would you do that? Sullying the perfection! Was it a slightly stale or sub par almond croissant?

nornironrock · 04/10/2019 09:30

It is wrong.

But not quite as wrong as putting anything at all in a croissant.

Almonds in croissants is the work of the devil. and don't get me started on on chocolate ones. BUY A PAIN AU CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!

chemenger · 04/10/2019 09:30

Almond croissants are vile, but maybe butter would hide the taste.

sheshootssheimplores · 04/10/2019 09:30

Oh god, if I were going to eat one I would slather it with butter. Yes!!

BillywigSting · 04/10/2019 09:31

Yanbu you don't mess with perfection.

Like a pp I now have to go out and get an almond croissant.

It's raining too.

LaurieMarlow · 04/10/2019 09:35

There’s pretty much nothing that isn’t improved by butter, including an almond croissant.

But it’s decadent to a level that I’m a bit uncomfortable with.

NotANeuroticApple · 04/10/2019 09:38

I have coeliacs and therefore i think YABU because I fucking like gluten and I'd destroy that almond croissant even if you put butter AND marmalade all over it but I can't because the stupid thing would destroy me

WispyTurnip · 04/10/2019 09:39

That is disgusting, but I find people eating plain croissants with butter pretty awful -- a good croissant is about 50% butter, anyway, so the last thing it needs is to be buttered! If you need to butter your croissants, you are buying the wrong ones, or they're stale.

WispyTurnip · 04/10/2019 09:40

And stop with the talk of almond croissants. I live in the deep countryside, and, by a rough calculation, the nearest almond croissant is about 20 miles from here.

Bubblesgun · 04/10/2019 09:43

Am french and i think it is disgusting to see you putting butter on croissant plain and almond, i also think it is disgusting to out butter on bread before a meal when it is not breakfast or brown with oysters. There you go each to their own GrinWink

LaurieMarlow · 04/10/2019 09:59

I’m Irish and while I thank your great nation for inventing the croissant, I’ll put what I damn well want on it Grin

BouleBaker · 04/10/2019 10:04

It’s only ok if it’s a sub par almond croissant which you are trying to salvage.

Croissants are only ok if freshly baked, supermarket precooked ones are just all wrong and don’t get me started on the abomination that is the Starbucks croissant. Starbucks just don’t seem to understand what a croissant IS. 🥐

MorrisZapp · 04/10/2019 10:06

The Premier Inn at King's Cross serves raspberry jam croissants. They are as they sound, croissants containing raspberry jam.

I have travelled from Inverness on a whim to enjoy this delight.

BillywigSting · 04/10/2019 10:10

Agreed Starbucks croissants are an affront to all baked goods, but the ones from the little independent bakery down the road from me are the reason I will never ever not be a fatty.

They are beautiful.

ChicCroissant · 04/10/2019 10:16

Even I do not use butter on an Almond Croissant (see username) as they are lovely without.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/10/2019 11:16

Yuk. So wrong!

Egg · 04/10/2019 11:21

Anything tastes better with salted butter.

familycourtq · 04/10/2019 11:47

Anyone producing almond croissants should be jailed.
Croissants are plain - that's it.

KurriKurri · 04/10/2019 12:36

No to butter on any kind of croissant - they are bung full of butter anyway. Warm with coffee and naked (the croissant not the consumer)is the only way.

ChicCroissant · 04/10/2019 12:46

Anything tastes better with salted butter.

Particularly French salted butter IMO Egg, even a plain croissant is nice with extra butter - not the almond variety though.

DameDoom · 04/10/2019 12:56

I have learnt something today - I had no idea that almond croissants were gooey in the middle. I am now questioning my entire existence as there is clearly so much in life that I am in ignorance of. I genuinely thought they just contained flaked almonds. I like smooth pate on a croissant... the cheaper the better.

Sexnotgender · 04/10/2019 12:57

Depends on the croissant. Shit generic croissant then fine.

Amazing croissant from local coffee shop then you have a point.
