It seems very out of character for Harry? Confused I wonder if he misinterpreted and thought she was asking about the lawsuit...

This is why it’s interesting when a royal decides to draw unnecessary attention to their own pointlessness.

William went through his own stage of being petulant with the media but seems to have settled now.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/10/2019 10:03

she had just questioned his raison d’etre ...

Not quite; certainly she questioned what he hoped to achieve at this particular event, but that hardly covers his entire existence - and given his current attitude I'm not convinced his response would have been different in any setting

Frankly, in return for that lifestyle they could have asked me anything, and there's always the option of just not answering

elprup · 05/10/2019 10:07

Interesting points in the FT, that the tabloids have such low circulation

The FT does neglect to mention though that MailOnline’s unique browser numbers are something like 13 million a day. Which is pretty massive.

And yes, the idea that this latest "I'm gonna sue" might be to pre-empt something else crawling into view had occurred to me too

Like what? What do people think is going to come out?

BertrandRussell · 05/10/2019 10:12

“If William is “good Prince” then the bar is pretty low!”
Low work rate, hypocrisy about the environment, rumours of infidelity, spending mega bucks on house renovations......

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 05/10/2019 10:24

The house renovations comparison is disingenuous, Bert. Much of the cost related to major roof work and asbestos removal. And it is a Royal Palace, not a private home. The Cambridges paid for their own family kitchen to supplement the working one.

Symptomless · 05/10/2019 10:29

I'm glad Meghan and harry are suing the media companies, there needs to be more regulation and protection even for people in the public eye. So much deliberate misinformation, it's unbelievable how they keep getting away with it and how much it impacts public opinion. Good luck to them, I hope h&m win.

justasking111 · 05/10/2019 10:34

What is really needed is others in the public eye to stand up and sue the media. Tie them all up in court cases, so they consider collating facts before they publish. Piers Morgan worked for news of the world and the mirror no surprise there. His bile has been off the scale. The good morning Britain team should be concerned. He needs reigning in

LaurieMarlow · 05/10/2019 10:35

It’s absolutely not disingenuous. The money the Cambridge’s spent was on their private living quarters, not the entire palace. I’m sure Frogmore has lots of structural work included in the price tag too.

The Cambridges paid for their own family kitchen to supplement the working one.

I’d damn well hope so given that the public had already paid for the first one.

LaurieMarlow · 05/10/2019 10:36

I see it as a warning shot to Morgan. And I can only support that. He’s been an absolute prick to both of them and unfortunately plenty of the hard of thinking listen to him.

Pitterpatterpettysteps · 05/10/2019 10:41

rumours of infidelity

Oh, so completely unfounded rumours are suddenly grist to the mill now, are they? Interesting just how flexible your own bar is when it comes to making assessments about people...

BertrandRussell · 05/10/2019 10:46

Grin Thought you’d like that. Happy to withdraw infidelity rumour and leave the proven low work rate, hypocrisy and profligate spending....

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 05/10/2019 10:56

Private living quarters in a Royal Palace. Not a private home like Frogmore.

Pitterpatterpettysteps · 05/10/2019 11:00

I would suggest that 'profligate spending' rather falls under the job description when you're heir to the throne... but could you please elaborate on this? It's all a bit vague TBF.

With respect to his 'proven low work rate', William attended 220 engagements last year, whereas Harry attended only 193 - half of them overseas.

Harry and Meghan's hypocricy re the environment has been pretty blatant. Please outline the specifics of William's hypocricy in this regard, again, it's all rather vague...

LaurieMarlow · 05/10/2019 11:01

Private living quarters in a Royal Palace. Not a private home like Frogmore.

Frogmore is part of the royal estates. It’s not called a palace, but that’s the key difference.

It’s not privately owned by H&M. Did you think it was?

BertrandRussell · 05/10/2019 11:21

“it's all rather vague..”

BertrandRussell · 05/10/2019 11:22

Sorry. Try again.

“it's all rather vague...”

Surely not. Grin

Pitterpatterpettysteps · 05/10/2019 11:30

So you acknowledge that there is, beyond some vague and baseless generations, nothing of substance to criticise William for. We got there in the end :)

justasking111 · 05/10/2019 11:32

Just because they are not seen to be working confuses people. They work from home offices dealing with correspondence future events. Necessary administration.

I'm all for instagram type stuff the facts are out there before the press can twist it.

BertrandRussell · 05/10/2019 11:42

I think the bar is low because they are all pretty awful and shout be abolished. It’s just weird that Willian can “lecture” and “preach” about the environment while having 3 children and flying all over the place, and spend lots of money out of the Sovereign Grant having his family home done up and nobody says a word.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 05/10/2019 11:43

It’s not privately owned by H&M. Did you think it was?

I was thinking more of how it was occupied, rather than ownership. Tbh it's not something I ever got worked up about, I just don't think they are like for like in terms of comparison.

In general I dislike the comparison of William and Kate and Harry and Meghan against each other. They are different people in different roles.

LaurieMarlow · 05/10/2019 11:50

i just don't think they are like for like in terms of comparison.

All your justifications for that don’t stack up though

Both are owned by the Crown
Both needed extensive structural work

The only difference is that the KP apartments are within a larger building.

Why would that make the expenditure not comparable?

BertrandRussell · 05/10/2019 11:52

ParticuLarly when both the. Cambridges and the Sussexes paid for their own fixtures and fittings.
