To mourn MN as it was in the Moulden Days

GregoriaTheGreat · 02/10/2019 21:59

Admittedly, it was not perfect (full of quiches and Queen Bees). So much so that I gave it a rest for a considerable while. I may even have Flounced at some point (though was not a Mouldie. I would never have been cool enough).

But I now mourn the Olden Days when nobody had to bother with "lighthearted" when a thread was evidently lighthearted. Nobody took everything quite so seriously, even when they would have good reason to.

Posters generally had a decent command of spelling and grammar, too.

Maybe I'm just old and need to take up knitting or something.

Thanks scrambled, I'm relieved to see I have the odd moment of decency in my path of turpid moral decrepitude

Yeah, well we won't talk about the spoons Grin

GregoriaTheGreat · 04/10/2019 17:52

I just looked on Reddit (something I have never done before), and typed 'Mouldies' into the search box. This is what it said:

"One time I was watching DramaAlert on the toilet and my stepmom walked in and screamed at me and told my dad I was watching porn"

I think quite a lot of people are on fb, mme lindor may be one of them

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 04/10/2019 17:55

Well this is going swimmingly

"I'm hardly getting personal Glenda, I haven't called anyone sad or a wicked fairy for instance."
I don't know why, but this ^^ has cracked me right up Grin I want to change my name to SadOrWickedFairy now. Although it may be triggering to those upset by the Fairy related insults on this thread...

Fiderer · 04/10/2019 17:56

at the idea of Hully missing being fawned over.

I had a soft spot for LeQ. We were on a thread about a TV series set around the War of the Roses which I knew v little about. The series was tosh, the threads v enjoyable and LeQ was so enthusiastic and not at all snotty. I've been fascinated by the period since then.

DollyTwat · 04/10/2019 17:56

Isn’t it a bit hypocritical to complain of bullying etc then do that exact thing to someone?

These threads are meant to be just a bit of reminiscing and fun - sure not everyone remembers it that way, but this thread was about the good times.

Do Mumsnet still do a Christmas party?
Fond memories of walking for miles with @Hullygully
And having a fag with @shirleyknott

Good times (gets ready for someone to say they had a shit time at the party)

ScrambledSmegs · 04/10/2019 17:57

Penelope I hope that you do have some good memories of times on MN since the early days?

Hullygully · 04/10/2019 17:57

Haha I think "I'm hardly getting personal Glenda" would be a top name. Might even nc..

RickOShay · 04/10/2019 18:00

I’m with you @PlacidPenelope and @NoSauce.
Thing is @Hullygully, when you are in something you can’t see it. By definition you can’t understand how some of your pals did hurt people’s feelings, I remember Reality in particular had some weird shit going on. That’s ok. But maybe you could acknowledge how people feel or felt, rather than saying what jolly japes it all was.

PlacidPenelope · 04/10/2019 18:01

WeBuilt - I'll race you to it! Not in the least but triggered or upset by the fairy related insults or any of the other crap flung my way, it just clarifies what posters who disagree with the 'Twas all wonderful when this were just fields have pointed out.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 04/10/2019 18:01

The main feeling I had for LeQ was pity really, anyone so desperate to portray their life as a certain way, is clearly very sad and unhappy in their current life

That being said, she was also quite unkind quite a lot of the time and I don't understand why she is mentioned so much even now. She would love all this attention, that's for sure (in fact didn't she once post saying how lovely and kind LaQ was and then was rumbled?)

Hullygully · 04/10/2019 18:01

Fid, always interesting to see people in diff circs. She did have her good bits, she was just a really funny old stick

TantrumsAndBalloons · 04/10/2019 18:02

The spoon thread was great

Also greensleeves thread about burnt cakes and not having any birds was fucking hilarious.

That wouldn’t happen now

On the plus side lots of lovely names on this thread, which has cheered me up, and reminded me of lots of lovely people who are now missing :(

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 04/10/2019 18:03

Dolly I had a shit time at the party Wink

NoSauce · 04/10/2019 18:05

Are Crumbs and LeQ the same person?

Now that’s something I’ve never thought of until now!

ImHardlyGettingPersonalGlenda · 04/10/2019 18:05

and now you’ll never know who got there first! Poor sad fairies.

Hullygully · 04/10/2019 18:06

I did Rick. Pages ago. Nothing I say helps.

However I will tighten my cicatrice another two notches and eat slimy things. Or something

IHaveBrilloHair · 04/10/2019 18:06

Oh, after catching up with the last few posts I've just remembered the Tudors thread which was hilarious.
Someone described it as Hollyoaks does History which was accurate.
Fabulous old bunkum, I have the box set Grin

Hullygully · 04/10/2019 18:07

YOU STOLE MY NAME YOU NAME STEALING FUCKER

GregoriaTheGreat · 04/10/2019 18:07

I'm hardly getting personal, Glenda

This did actually make me chuckle.

OP posts:
Hullygully · 04/10/2019 18:08

See, this is the fun stuff, stealing names and being silly. It's not quiche, just a laugh. Go mad and join in. We need laughter in this grim world

GregoriaTheGreat · 04/10/2019 18:09

There is a name thief in our midst. Can't believe they have the gall to

OP posts:
GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 04/10/2019 18:10

I believe I'm the robbed one here.

You Glenda stealing stinker.

GregoriaTheGreat · 04/10/2019 18:10

I think Glenda's husband is called Dennis.

OP posts:
RickOShay · 04/10/2019 18:11

Ok fair enough Grin
