To mourn MN as it was in the Moulden Days

Admittedly, it was not perfect (full of quiches and Queen Bees). So much so that I gave it a rest for a considerable while. I may even have Flounced at some point (though was not a Mouldie. I would never have been cool enough).

But I now mourn the Olden Days when nobody had to bother with "lighthearted" when a thread was evidently lighthearted. Nobody took everything quite so seriously, even when they would have good reason to.

Posters generally had a decent command of spelling and grammar, too.

Maybe I'm just old and need to take up knitting or something.

Oh and trigger warnings. For EVERYTHING

I get there are some subjects that might need a heads up but not every topic in the whole world

Definitely agree about how the feminism-trans thing has educated me. I am enough of a wishy washy lefty liberal to have previously thought it was all OK

Hullygully · 03/10/2019 16:05

Me too canterburywhales. Though sadly not the being in Italy bit. V jealous, north or south?

endofthelinefinally · 03/10/2019 16:06

I can't remember when I joined, but it was before Moldiegate.
I recognise all the old names.
I avoid AIBU most of the time, particularly if posters are rude or aggressive, but, for me, the bereavement board has been a lifeline.
I think the feminism boards are excellent and vitally important. So many wise and clever women on there.
MN has changed, but is still a very important source of information and support.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 03/10/2019 16:19

I love the feminism boards (as you can tell from my name Grin) and actually it's right that we say this and appreciate one of the last bastions of (relatively) free speech for women, especially with all the hassle it causes MNHQ.

In the long term, this will also pay off for them when enough people catch on to what the fuck is actually, and has been, happening to women (and children) and the tide eventually turns against the current fucked up ideology.

hazeyjane · 03/10/2019 16:24

Yes I'm getting tired of lighthearted threads getting over analysed and your motives questioned. I used to love the silly threads, now they're hard work..

To be honest this just feels like everything at the moment. Everything is disappearing up its own fundament.

BIWI · 03/10/2019 16:26

Now there are lots of "big" characters but a lot of them are pretty horrible as a rule.

Really? I don't that's either true or fair.

BIWI · 03/10/2019 16:26

I don't think that's either fair or true - obviously!

TheCanterburyWhales · 03/10/2019 16:33

Hully- south- arse end of bleeding nowhere.
But they've not gagged me yet at least. ha!

Hullygully · 03/10/2019 16:48

Now there are lots of "big" characters but a lot of them are pretty horrible as a rule.

Really??

Who are where?

Hullygully · 03/10/2019 16:48

Canterbury, I love the south, lucky you!

Sparklingbrook · 03/10/2019 17:07

Waves to everyone but worries waving is a no-no. Sad

hazeyjane · 03/10/2019 17:14

How dare you. I find w*ving very triggering, ever since catching the credits of The Beverley Hillbillies as a child.

exLtEveDallas · 03/10/2019 17:17

Well tbh Sparks, simply because you have done it will probably make it an issue (who did you used to be again?) GrinGrinGrin

This is a lovely thread. It's made me think quite fondly of some of my 'mates' and their posts. Gawd, there was a time I was hardly off here...now I'm hardly on.

Canterbury - my most memorable webchat is still the JO one that ended up with him sending my niece a cookbook...although it was quickly eclipsed by him being a complete arse on the next tv show and proving he hadn't listened to a sodding word I'd said Sad

Sparklingbrook · 03/10/2019 17:20

I will report my post and have it removed, I completely forgothow much waving could offend.

I still want to know who I used to be. Grin

MimieD · 03/10/2019 17:28

Joined in 2004 when DD1 was born....no trolls around then. Just honest advise and great banter. Cod was the best.

TheCanterburyWhales · 03/10/2019 17:29

I'll send you a PM and ask you shall I?
Grin I wonder where that poster is...

Hullygully · 03/10/2019 17:29

But but when was waving outlawed?

Why for the love of the weeny swaddled baby jesus can't we say hello to people??

Sparklingbrook · 03/10/2019 17:33

I remember the first troll thread I was on. It was someone called dansnowboss.
This person was going on a date and we got to hear all about the arrangements in great detail. They went off to Bicester Village and showed us pictures of dresses so we could help choose.
We also saw pictures of his flash car. His apartment was amazing and the OP was keeping us updated with the date from his bathroom. Then the thread disappeared. Shock I was hooked, and wanted to know how the date went. Apparently someone was making it all up.Shock
But now I wouldn't have got past page 1 without thinking 'yeah right'. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 03/10/2019 17:34

Hully we have to pretend we don't recognise anyone remember.

yulet · 03/10/2019 17:35

hazey Grin

Hullygully · 03/10/2019 17:36

Do we?
But why?
When did that happen??
I know I've hardly been on, but what is that about? It's mad

NameChangeNugget · 03/10/2019 17:38

Nostalgia isn’t what it used to be

Sparklingbrook · 03/10/2019 17:42

Because Hully we might then agree with one another and that will be cliquey and the next stop=pack mentality. Or something.
