And about time, too. They never stop castigating her.

Prince Harry has said that he's worried that she'll end up being the same kind of victim that his mother was with regard to the Press.

I hope she wins her case.

What does compo mean?

What do people think of the timing of this? It seems a shame that it's instantly overshadowed all the great publicity they've achieved from their latest tour.

It is unfortunate and has created all the wrong headlines. Maybe his legal team just reached some milestone?

I suspect the great publicity they have received is BECAUSE of the promise of legal action, so the press are treading carefully

Otherwise we would have had a load of the usual articles, sniping over them both for the way she dresses / stands / walks / what she’s wearing etc etc etc

I don’t know why anyone would listen to Piers whining about being “dumped” by a woman he’s literally met once

No indeed, and it does says a ton about him and his attitudes/entitlements.

SirVixofVixHall · 02/10/2019 11:42

I agree with higgyhog ‘s post on page ten.

QualCheckBot · 02/10/2019 11:42

If you do a quick google, its easy to find out that Harry and Meghan became clients of US PR company Sunshine Sachs recently, just before Meghan's Vogue editorship, as their spokesman has stated that Harry is paying their fees personally. You have to wonder if this is a wise choice as their former clients include Harvey Weinstein and the estate of Michael Jackson and they have been implicated in editing Wikipeadia pages to remove adverse publicity. Meghan is also represented by former Hillary Clinton advisor Sara Latham and Hollywood talent agent Nick Collins.

mrscampbellblackagain · 02/10/2019 11:42

I think that Meghan unfortunately for her just joined the RF when more and more people are questioning why they really exist in their current form.

So her spending etc has made her a scapegoat and yes Bertrand, I know they all spend loads. They are all very wealthy and I think the whole institution needs reforming.

I find them all slightly cringeworthy really - the sycophancy is weird and the nasty comments they endure is just awful.

And the way Kate and Meghan are pitted against each other by not just the press but fans of them is just revolting.

So down with the Royals - retire them all and everyone would be much happier.

SaraNade · 02/10/2019 11:43

but not visit him before the wedding or make the effort to see him to set things straight after the wedding. Um....considering all the things he and Samantha did and said about her, dare you blame her? Dare you blame her?!? wtf am I reading!

He has really been a victim of the press
omfg God, it gets worse. Confused He is the INSTIGATOR of bad press, MEGHAN is the only victim of the press.

but the man clearly isn't the healthiest and is in his seventies, so its rather sad that no sympathy is being shown for him. He's still a human being.
How long have you been on Mumsnet? Because if you'd been on here longer than a few months at least, you'd know that that pathetic, enabling justification does not go down well on here at all with people who are NC due to toxic relatives. Some people have way passed the ability to be forgiven or to be allowed back into their child's life. Thomas went past that threshold loooooonnngggg ago. Age and health does not mean a narcissistic, toxic, self-serving and venomous parent earns the right to a visit. Sometimes parents forfeit that right to ever see you again. You need a reality check and quick smart.

MM was beginning to seem quite likable when compared to Prince Andrew
Omg, just when I thought your post couldn't get any more lower, or more naive, absurd and delusional. (facepalm) smdh

SirVixofVixHall · 02/10/2019 11:46

Entropyrising No, I agree it isn’t very well considered, and just drags the spat with her father ever onward.

I've clearly missed out on being indoctrinated with the herd mind. I'll quickly look round for a field of sheep to join so I can learn.

joyfullittlehippo I don’t know why people keep bringing up the fact they repped Michael Jackson, feels pretty goady. There isn’t a PR company on the planet who don’t have some “dodgy” names on their client list.

I wasn't being goady. I was just thinking they weren't very good...

Apparantly its Harry that is the client of Sunshine Sachs now.

DontMakeMeShushYou · 02/10/2019 11:51

@Sapatsea
But who owned the letter? If her father as receiver (rather than MM as the writer)did and he sold it to the DM then how can the Sussexes complain? Her father did a terrible thing selling the letter but it is what MM wrote so isn't libellous.

It's not about who owns the letter. It's about who owns the copyright. Copyright is owned by the author, the person who wrote the words, which in this case is Meghan. End of. Full stop. That is the law. That is why they have decided to sue for infringement of copyright. Because there are no ifs and buts.

angell84 · 02/10/2019 11:52

Would any of you want to be friends with Piers Morgan?

I wouldn't

SaraNade · 02/10/2019 11:52

@KevinKlineSwoon She is a celebrity when it suits her and a royal when it suits her

Where do get the impression she is anything but a royal? It seems you are the one inserting 'celebrity' in there. Yet she is behaving like a normal royal to me.

Trewser · 02/10/2019 11:53

I am so glad that I know none of this. I'm off to walk the dogs in the sunshine.

MissDew · 02/10/2019 11:54

You cannot keep blaming the papparazi for that

Princess Diana not wearing a seatbelt on the night she died. However, I do blame the drunk driver at the wheel who had taunted the paparazzi by saying, 'you won't catch us tonight.'

I also blame M.Fayed as Henri Paul was on his payroll. He gave the ok for him to be driving that night. I blame Dodi Fayed for not following VIP protocol on that night as he had a boys own comic book view of the world and viewed his father as some sort of fixer.

I've read the, 'Bodyguards' Story' by Trevor Rees-Jones. Yeah, be sceptical and remark that he said his head injuries meant he couldn't remember a great deal. That's true but the bits that he can remember are the basis for the book.

angell84 · 02/10/2019 11:54

And also of course I can see how Harry would be furious at the press.

They went after her car, and then took photos of her dying in the back seat.

If that was your mother - wouldn't you be filled with rage

TottieandMarchpane · 02/10/2019 11:55

Have you seen who else Prince Charles’ American PR company reps?

Charles has an American PR?! What for?

AnyMinuteNow · 02/10/2019 11:59

She's this, she's that. I don't even understand this level of intensity over a stranger.

It's like stalker's who wallow in any snippet of information about their target.

I get that kids get carried away with 'the famous', 'celebrities', 'influencers' and the like, but grown adults, other than in a 'how is public money being spent' way, or whether certainly public figures are negatively affecting our society.

Someone explain Confused

Utter nonsense...

Does Harry / Meghan actually have the ability to opt out of public life /royal duties at all? Because for their own ongoing sanity I sort of feel they should consider this. Even if they win this Mail on Sunday case, the tabloid media are a leopard that will never really change its spots. Clearly Harry struggles with lifelong impact which I totally get. He should remove himself from the public payroll and go make his own way doing whatever makes him happy. He has the option of the US where I'm sure they'd love him and he could do whatever he wants. He should get out while he can.
