Wearing foundation with a baby/toddler

Bit of a random one really, but do you wear foundation when you're out and about with your baby/toddler? I've always worn quite heavy foundation as I have really blotchy skin on my face that has caused me a lot of anxiety over the years. Foundation has really helped me get my confidence back.

I'm due to have a baby next year and was wondering if it's possible to wear foundation with a baby/toddler in tow? I see my friends' children put their hands on their mums' faces and would worry about make-up rubbing off on them.

I don't wear make-up around the house - just when I'm out and about.

I do. Have to hide the bags and wrinkles somehow. Doesn't seen to rub off on the DCs luckily or at least not that I notice Smile

It’s completely up to you. If you feel more cmodrtable with it on, do it. If you don’t want to, don’t. I used to wear heavy make up when DS was small but not so much DD. I decided to give up wearing daily foundation when I was organnt with her which was the best thing in the long run as my skin became so much better and I didn’t have quite so much time for it after having my second.

Do whatever you feel comfortable with!

Solewindow · 28/09/2019 18:26

I've stopped completely since DC and it feels ok now - I'm sure my skin is better. I do good moisturiser with SPF but that's it. I just didn't have time to apply and maintain it.

LaVieilleHarpie · 28/09/2019 18:26

Your baby's skin will burn and fall off.

Or actually, it won't. Wear the foundation if you want. :)

Mum of a 2 year told and a 4 month old here. I've learnt to be happy with my skin (free from makeup) but if I have the time I will put something on, and I do it for me. Not for anyone else's benefit and not to feel like I've stopped trying just because I'm a stay at home mum.
Also as I like expensive makeup it's wasteful if I'm home all day and I don't want to stop and go out the house with half a face because I don't have time to finish!
See how you feel each day, you'll notice you'll need to spend your time on other things which take you away from 'you' time.

With my DC it would be impossible - he's still at open mouthed kisses stage and would probably lick it off Grin

Bishbosh84 · 28/09/2019 18:28

would worry about make-up rubbing off on them
Huh? Hmm

Yoohoo16 · 28/09/2019 18:29

I do. I hate not wearing it.

brownpaperbag1 · 28/09/2019 18:29

I would love to not wear it if I could, but honestly, my skin comes up in red blotches and looks terrible!

I have three young children, have worn foundation throughout and it’s never occurred to me that it would be a problem!

Ibiza2015 · 28/09/2019 18:31

Boots no 7 does a very light dewy liquid one. Doesn’t cake or rub off. I find if you exfoliate really well before wear it’s as good as heavier make up. St Ives exfoliated is good.

CycleWoman · 28/09/2019 18:31

I can’t be bothered but tiredness made my demon look really bad and I felt self conscious (mainly due to people saying ‘oooh you look exhausted’....yeah thanks I know!). I use a light tinted moisturiser with SPF and am much happier with that than foundation.

Tippety · 28/09/2019 18:32

I couldnt be arsed with make up for a while after, but honestly it won't be a problem if you want to keep wearing it :) you'll be more worried about being jabbed in the nose, eyes, ears, and everywhere else haha. Does your foundation usually come off when it is touched? If so, maybe a gentle setting spray? Smile

CycleWoman · 28/09/2019 18:32

My ‘demon’!? My ‘skin’

brownpaperbag1 · 28/09/2019 18:32

Maybe I’m overthinking things!

I still wear foundation, I love applying make up. If my DH or kids are wearing white I will wear tinted moisturiser, as it always transfer.

MamaFlintstone · 28/09/2019 18:35

I wore foundation most days on maternity leave as it helped me still feel like me. I always wear it every day now, and DD is nearly 2. I use a translucent setting powder over it and it’s fine. I have sticky toddler fingers all over my face but there’s not much transfer onto her so I really wouldn’t worry.

Expressedways · 28/09/2019 18:37

Definitely overthinking it. Wear whatever make-up you want to.

MeadowHay · 28/09/2019 18:38

I used to use it a few times a week before DD, mainly weekends or if was going for a meal or other event in the week. I have acne. #

Since DD - 15m - I don't currently even own one, only tinted moisturiser, which is not enough coverage at all. I haven't worn foundation since before she was born. I feel sad about it and planning to buy one again soon. My skin is awful and it really affects my confidence, I just try not to think about it. I just struggle to find time to put any make up on. I suppose I could do it on my work days if I got up earlier but I'm not so bothered about work, I would rather wear it Fri-Sun when I'm not at work especially for events but I just don't have time mostly. DD is v clingy and 'full-on' still.

BumbleBeee69 · 28/09/2019 18:39

I've never worn it .. loathe the feel of it.. I do like a lick of mascara though OP Grin

Inaqueuefortheloo · 28/09/2019 18:40

Estée Lauder doublewear. Doesn’t rub off on DD. Keeps me feeling more like me and lasts quite a while. My skin is pretty bad too OP, and this is also something I was thinking about like you!

Orangedaisy · 28/09/2019 18:40

I don’t wear make up when I am with the kids all day as by the time I get to bed I have no energy left to take it off!

Jesse70 · 28/09/2019 18:42

I have tanned my ones face from fake tan and breastfeeding but my make up always stays on lol

snowball28 · 28/09/2019 18:58

I still wear makeup but having three kids and being so busy my routine has changed from a shower blow dry and full face every morning to shower every other day, leave hair to do it’s own thing and very similar or make up I can get done in 10 mins lol.
