Wearing foundation with a baby/toddler

Bit of a random one really, but do you wear foundation when you're out and about with your baby/toddler? I've always worn quite heavy foundation as I have really blotchy skin on my face that has caused me a lot of anxiety over the years. Foundation has really helped me get my confidence back.

I'm due to have a baby next year and was wondering if it's possible to wear foundation with a baby/toddler in tow? I see my friends' children put their hands on their mums' faces and would worry about make-up rubbing off on them.

I don't wear make-up around the house - just when I'm out and about.

Why would you worry about it rubbing off on your baby? It’s foundation not sulphuric acid.

reetgood · 28/09/2019 19:03

A mineral moisturiser is great. I use bare minerals and it’s quick to apply but makes me look like I’ve slept, when I haven’t :)

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 28/09/2019 19:07

I've always worn make up because I like it. Wear what you like.

WhatshouldIdonoww · 28/09/2019 19:19

Can’t see why this would be an issue? I have 4 children and always worn it.

Ohyesiam · 28/09/2019 19:20

I always did.

OhTheRoses · 28/09/2019 19:24

I always did. Took/takes about two to three minutes. Foundation, under eye concealer, dust of powder, blusher, lick of mascara and lippy. It's my human and I look a lot better with a lick of slap.

ohcarriemathison · 28/09/2019 19:29

Yep, have always worn full make-up since having kids and haven't stopped now I have them.
It's just part of me and my morning routine.

Greenleaveslaughing · 28/09/2019 19:34

Wear your makeup !! Lol, I’m amazed you need to ask

Quail15 · 28/09/2019 19:38

I still wear the same make up that I did before DD was born. I have however stopped using hair products such as hair stray and serums as my dd always tries to grab and stuck my hair. I do try and stop her but she is a determined little thing.

Fluffsmum · 28/09/2019 19:45

I do, no issues

Toodler · 28/09/2019 20:31

I have a lot of facial hair and stubble that I prefer to cover up. I have a one year old daughter, who's always touching and smushing my face.

I use my foundation and then set it with powder and it doesn't budge. I invested in some urban decay setting spray and it works brilliant too.

libbynaughtz26 · 28/09/2019 20:33

This is a non-issue Confused

Mamabear144 · 28/09/2019 21:27

The first few months I wore it most days but as he got bigger and needed less naps now I rarely bother, sometimes if he naps and I don't have a million things to do and I'm feeling like I look particularly crap then I will. I'm always very pale with black bags around my eyes but I embrace it because single mom life who has the time or energy. I kind of keep it for when I'm feeling like I need a little pick me up, but ds does try to lick it off my face and constantly tries to touch my face but hes not used to seeing me with it.

Alexel · 28/09/2019 21:45

Used to wear make up daily, Estee double wear and eye make up etc. Had baby, single parent, stopped caring as much. Wore it a few times after LO was born but it wasnt often, Estee didn't come off easily with baby/toddler.
Its completely possible but at some point it just depends how busy you are, and how much sleep you're willing to sacrifice lol I'd rather not get up earlier and do make up and end of the day I was exhausted so taking it off was a chore.
Now I don't even foundation but bbcream because I found my skin cleared up really nicely after 1.5years no make up. So bb cream on t zone and concealer under the eyes now. It all depends on what you want to make time for, I don't personally.
But their hands go in your mouth and explore, I found nivea tinted lip balm better than coloured lipsticks.

Isithometimeyet0987 · 28/09/2019 21:58

I’ve always wore it and I’ve always wore quite heavy makeup but I’ve always set my make up with powder and then used setting spray after applying all my makeup, I never changed my makeup when I had dd and I have never noticed it coming off during the day.

SnugglySnerd · 28/09/2019 22:02

Yes it's fine. I always wear make up and it's never been a problem. I really notice the smell of other people's perfume on my kids after a cuddle with granny/aunt/whoever though.

gamerchick · 28/09/2019 22:03

Well OP, I've been around for a while and that's a new one on me. Bravo man Grin

Yes you can wear your make up as normal.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 28/09/2019 22:17

Have you seen a GP/dermatologist about the red blotches OP? Could it be allergies or a sensitivity or something

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 28/09/2019 22:19

Ps, got a baby & a toddler & I rarely wear any make up at all any more. And many mums at the playgroups we go too are wearing little/none. Too much faff.

beingmum39 · 29/09/2019 21:14

I don't bother with make up now apart from mascara and that is only if I am heading out. I wouldn't get time to take it off in evening half the time let alone put it on in morning but you have to do what makes you feel good about you. When the little one arrives as horrible as this may sound most people won't look at you but will be all eyes on the little one... Wink

Lolwhat · 29/09/2019 21:26

Just wear a good powder and setting spray if you find it’s rubbing off

thethoughtfox · 29/09/2019 21:30

Look for transfer proof foundation.

ladybee28 · 29/09/2019 22:04

The things that your child will cover themselves in... foundation is the least of your worries!

Dee1975 · 29/09/2019 22:17

Always worn makeup. Never even thought of it as a problem!

Imustbemad00 · 29/09/2019 22:23

Out of interest what foundation do you wear?
