Anyone got an island to hold a republican festival on?

Andrew struggled to find a TV station willing to televise Eugenie's wedding - the BBC was not interested, so he had to settle for ITV.

And it got ITV their best daytime ratings in years. They’ll bite his hand off. Meanwhile three pensioners and a budgie will be dozing off in front of a special episode of Homes Under the Hammer that’s only been on 28 times before.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 26/09/2019 19:35

Edo was still living with Dara when he was dating Beatrice. There was definite overlap and is still something Dara struggles with although she remains tight lipped and handles it with dignity.

Close personal friend of yours is she?

Given that Prince Charles and Princess Anne are both married to people with whom they treated on their previous spouses, I doubt any tabloid speculation about ‘overlap’ will cause too many ripples.

Louise is a Princess, but doesn't use the title.

SoMuchToBits · 26/09/2019 22:23

Still thinking what sort of Playmo wedding to plan for. Will have to await events and see...

Yabbers · 26/09/2019 22:38

I doubt it will be a big wedding. Hasn't he been married before, he has a child.

Because Meghan and Harry’s wedding was so low key.....

Mowly75 · 26/09/2019 22:51

I bloody love a royal wedding & I’m a staunch anti monarchist. Something about how camp it is ...& you know if I’m gonna pay for them I’ll enjoy the spectacle

GunpowderGelatine · 26/09/2019 23:00

Good grief just don't watch it no one's forcing you!

Personally I can't wait to see what Fergie wears, a royal wedding in these times is always a good watch Grin also I Hope Kate Middleton returns the favour and turns up to the wedding in the most attention seeking ridiculous outfit ever Grin

doubtingmorag · 26/09/2019 23:02

No doubt we will get some BS commentary about how the couple believe in various causes that aim to address inequality and unfairness... while wearing £180k outfits like the other ones...

brownpaperbag1 · 26/09/2019 23:05

however the outfit she wore on the day of Eugenie's wedding screamed I am pregnant.

I don’t understand all this controversy about Meghan’s outfit at Eugenie’s wedding. She’d have been barely out of her first trimester by that point so wouldn’t have had a bump anyway! Confused

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 27/09/2019 08:37

ajandjjmum - Yes, sorry, had forgotten about Louise. However, she is a lot younger than E & B, so probably will be a good 10 years before she gets married!

Now there's the best argument for an unelected unaccountable hereditary monarchy: their weddings can compete with Loose Women and Bargain Hunt for the attention of the elderly, poorly schoolchildren, the unemployed and bored housewives.

GaudyNight · 27/09/2019 09:33

Indeed, @Funky. Well, it makes more sense than the ‘they generate income’ argument.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 27/09/2019 11:14

What a ridiculous comment. Where did I say that was an argument in favour of the monarchy? It was a response to a poster who suggested Prince Andrew would have to ‘beg’ a television station to cover the event - something that clearly isn’t true.

LakieLady · 27/09/2019 11:22

I did just lock myself away with pizza and boxsets for the big one in 2011

Grin

We buggered off to Bruges for the weekend, and didn't risk turning on the tv in our hotel. We may have caught a glimpse on a tv in a bar we were about to go into, but we did a quick reverse and went somewhere else instead.

I can't remember where we were for the last big one, but we definitely managed to avoid it. I saw pics in a magazine in the hairdresser's a few days later though.

Dongdingdong · 27/09/2019 11:22

Small point but... Beatrice's ring is absolutely stunning!

FuzzyPuffling · 27/09/2019 12:16

SoMuch how about a scandal of sorts.....a jilting, a previous partner kicking off, and unknown child showing up, Norman voicing come objeciton...? Do these things happen in Playmoland?

(I am not suggesting any of these things are relevant in the case of Bea and Ed)

SoMuchToBits · 27/09/2019 13:47

I think the worst things that happen in Playmoland are probably Jack Jellyhead stealing a phone...

I'm wondering where Beatrice and Edoardo's wedding will be. UK or Italy?

Valanice1989 · 27/09/2019 15:29

The royal family generate a large amount of money for this country (much more than they receive) so without them we would all have to pay more tax.

This can't be true, surely?

Rachelover60 · 27/09/2019 19:28

Yes but locking yourself away with pizza and box sets for the day means you won't see the wedding.

TottieandMarchpane · 27/09/2019 20:12

Smile

That’s the ticket; Total avoidance.

I managed to not have a clue what Kate’s dress was like until 2015. I was ridiculously cross when I eventually saw a clip was shown on some programme or other.

I know. Great eh? Grin

I don't that in that 'they bring in lots of dosh' featured strongly in Plato's Republic. As a way in which a society chooses to organise itself, to establish or maintain a heredity, powerful privilege, it's not compelling, is it?

Rachelover60 · 27/09/2019 20:31

Well I suppose you could always watch it on catch up ;).

TottieandMarchpane · 27/09/2019 20:48

Is that you, Mum?
