Anyone got an island to hold a republican festival on?

OP posts:
Didthatreallyhappen2 · 26/09/2019 14:05

Does this all seem very quick to anyone? I think the Cambridges had been together years before they tied the knot, as had Eugenie and her other half (don't know his name). I hope it's not a case of "marry in haste …".

VladmirsPoutine · 26/09/2019 14:09

@Didthatreallyhappen2 I reckon had I been William I'd have dragged it out as long as feasibly possible. But wasn't Beatrice with that other bloke, someone Clark for years and as soon as they broke up he was married within a year. Seems she's doing the same. In anycase she's a princess, even if it all goes tits up doubt it'll be a case of 'marry in haste... repent at leisure'. Maybe she just wants to be married.

Ghostontoast · 26/09/2019 14:09

I hope they invite loads of stylish Italians to the wedding to give it a touch of “eurotrash” glamour!

LionelRitchieStoleMyNotebook · 26/09/2019 14:11

I'm not sure it's hard not to watch it, I would've watched either of the last three but I was busy so I didn't...

KittyVonCatsington · 26/09/2019 14:20

This man was apparently engaged to another woman for 3 1/2 years, has a toddler with her and the timeline between the end of that relationship and the beginning of this one is rather questionable.

Thank you! I cannot believe no one thinks this man is bad news and treated his ex fiancee and son appallingly. With the speed of engagement, one might worry that Beatrice is doing this for all the wrong reasons, poor thing.

Fresta · 26/09/2019 14:21

It's a very convenient distraction from the scrutiny Andrew's under!

Hadtonamechangeforthis123 · 26/09/2019 14:26

Not interested in the wedding but I am interested in the rumours that Kate is about to announce she's expecting their fourth baby. I like them, I don't know why but Im always pleased for them.

Rubicon80 · 26/09/2019 14:28

I did just lock myself away with pizza and boxsets for the big one in 2011, but it was hot, and I felt like an old curmudgeon and people still chirruped on about it for the rest of the week.

I can't get worked up about this given how many times people try to engage me in conversation about 'Bake Off' or 'Strictly'.

Can't really see that there's anything to choose between a tedious aristo wedding, and failed MPs doing shit dancing or reality TV 'stars' making cakes. On screen. And people actually watch it??! And talk about it??!?

Disagree with you OP, but I like your username.

Ringdonna · 26/09/2019 14:28

Rather watch paint dry

SoMuchToBits · 26/09/2019 14:30

@SchadenfreudePersonified you can buy a house in Playmoland for a very reasonable price. But you would have to shrink a lot to live in it.

Is it at all sad that I've just been down to the summer house to see which of the Playmoland royal family might next be expected to marry? Blush

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/09/2019 14:32

SoMuchToBits

Oh, dear!

I can barely fit in this one . . . Sad

IcedPurple · 26/09/2019 14:32

Not sure why people think Kate is about to announce another pregnancy. She always announces early due to her terrible HG when means she has to cancel all her engagements. But she's at Birkinhead right now launching 'Boaty McBoatface' looking very healthy and zero sign of a 'baby bump' which would show very quickly on her very thin frame.

IcedPurple · 26/09/2019 14:34

As for Bea, I also get grifter vibes from this pretty boy. I suspect another disastrous royal marriage in the making.

IrmaFayLear · 26/09/2019 14:38

The thing is Andrew and Fergie have the skins of rhinos and I expect will be pushing for exactly the same standard of wedding for Beatrice as Eugenie had. If I were A or F I'd have long entered a closed order for the terminally embarrassed, but they are as brazen as you like.

EntirelyAnonymised · 26/09/2019 14:38

It’s a lovely bit of ‘positive news ‘distraction from the York PR team

Auntyfannybaws · 26/09/2019 14:44

Bread and circuses

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 26/09/2019 15:02

Not always easy to avoid...

On behalf of Windsor residents please have it elsewhere...

Thank you!

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 26/09/2019 15:16

Re Meghan and pregnancy, we might not know when she announced it to family, however the outfit she wore on the day of Eugenie's wedding screamed I am pregnant.
It was not a nice thing to do.

JacquesHammer · 26/09/2019 15:20

Why is only Meghan getting blamed for the announcement....surely a fairer comment would have regarded her and Harry?

I don't think its that big a deal anyway - a wedding is a rather sweet place to annoucne a pregnancy. A friend did it at ours and it was another lovely reason to celebrate!

LaurieMarlow · 26/09/2019 15:24

It’s his family after all

Samcro · 26/09/2019 15:25

always blame the woman, of course Harry had nothing to do with it.
ffs

Rachelover60 · 26/09/2019 15:33

I'm looking forward to Beatrice's wedding.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 26/09/2019 16:13

She wore a coat that screamed I am pref with the world's press looking on, it was only going to cause feverish speculation on a day that wasn't about her.
I don't see how anyone could think this was a nice thing to do Confused

LaurieMarlow · 26/09/2019 16:16

She wore a coat that screamed I am pref with the world's press looking on, it was only going to cause feverish speculation on a day that wasn't about her.

Ffs what was she supposed to wear, a sack?

It can be hard to hide a pregnancy in formal wear.

Plus they were about six months married at that point and she’s on the older side so speculation was going to happen anyway.

The grief she gets for innocuous actions is unreal.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 26/09/2019 16:24

Oh for heaven's same Laurie, you must be being deliberately obtuse. She was only just pregnant and barely showing, she could easily have worn something less obvious.
I get why people defend her because she gets so much flak.
Comments like should she have worn a sack are daft.
She was in a tight leather skirt in the same week, I don't know why anyone would defend what was at best thoughtless and at worst attention seeking on someone else's wedding day. I would say the same thing about anyone, I am not anti Meghan.
