To ask for help with this dress?

I have fallen in love with this dress for a wedding but I need something to wear with it like a jacket for warmth and I cannot think of what would work. If I can't find something I think I'll have to freeze and wear it on its own. Please help!

You either need to suffer (the dress is gorgeous by itself) or wear a twenties style faux fur stole. I don’t think it will look good in anything else

stupid question but is a stole like a thicker scarf? A stole is like a wide scarf. In their heyday (50s) you wore it off the shoulder, covering your upper arms. But googling I see the name comes originally from the scarf thing that priests and bishops wear.
