AIBU to even think that I could actually BE pregnant and the test was right after all?

I am undergoing fertility treatment, not due to take my test until Friday (had to wait 2 weeks and 2 days). However I have felt so helpless that I caved and bought 2 tests.

Pink dye test from B&M - cheap at 2 for £1, then one clear blue.

I got a very very faint line on my clear blue but a negative on my pink one.

I am in a group on Facebook for people undergoing IU and IVF and the majority said that Clear blue tests are notorious for false positives and a web search does confirm this.

One minute I feel heartbroken, then the next I think "I could be!"

I am too scared to test again until Friday as I am happier not knowing for sure, than getting another negative :(

Anyone have experience of mixed results on certain pregnancy tests?

It looks a stronger positive than the last so if it's the same batch of tests it's unlikely to be the trigger shot still in your system.

Vilanelle · 24/09/2019 09:13

I will wait until the morning. I will be devastated if its negative!

I had really bad back pain yesterday and had a feeling. I also have permanently sore boobs but that could be a side effect of the medication I am on for the fertility treatment. I just cant believe it might have worked first time at 37 years of age!

That's positive!!

SparklyMagpie · 24/09/2019 09:22

I could see the line on the first photos no problem and today theres no missing that is there!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you OP!

I know how addictive it can be to test, but really hoping for you :)

bananaontoast1 · 24/09/2019 09:26

The cheap ones never showed more than a shadow of a line for me, and your clear blue is a stronger positive than mine too! I'm currently being battered and bruised from the inside out at 33 weeks, so I reckon yours is definitely positive!

mindutopia · 24/09/2019 09:26

I would say that is most certainly positive. I would go and get a FRER today. It will be pretty obvious, I think.

I was absolutely certain I was pregnant with my ds. I felt really ill (two previous pregnancies so I know what it feels like). I took a FRER at 10 dpo and it was completely negative. Not even a hint of a line! I continued to feel awful and took another at 16 dpo and it was a very obvious positive. He’s 19 months now. Sometimes you just know.

You will certainly get a positive FRER I would think so I would do it.

I think I will hold a pee in for 4 hours, that will be hard - then do a 1st response tonight

I never normally comment on these because I can never see the 'squinters' that other people seem to but that second picture it's clear as day!

Go and get a FRER OP!

Vilanelle · 24/09/2019 09:54

@mytinyfiredancers They are coming from amazon today!

Good luck then! Both pregnancies of mine were picked up at 3w 6d from cycle day 1 by FRERs (by coincidence I tested the same day both times). So pretty early. They were faint at that time but they were there and 2-3 days later they were really strong.

No fertility treatment here so not sure if that makes a difference but they are good. I think they need less HCG to detect than clearblue.

Google suggests that doesn't work; it's to do with hormones and not how long urine has stayed in your bladder, although I'm no expert.

Be careful that you don't really upset yourself if you test later, that won't do you any good.

Fingers crossed! Thanks

CucinaBreakfast · 24/09/2019 10:34

Those tests are positive, and the fact that they're getting stronger is a good sign. I was getting blazing pink lines on my frer and the squintiest of squinters on the internet strips at 14dpo (9dp5dt) so don't stress about those. Get yourself some frers, and possibly even a digital because it might even show up positive on those by now. Best of luck, ttc and struggling is shit but it definitely looks positive for now!

CucinaBreakfast · 24/09/2019 10:35

Sorry i just saw they're coming today. Fingers crossed, make sure you update here!

Cookit · 24/09/2019 10:35

Even if you don’t hold it a FRER would still be strongly positive by now with that kind of result on the blue dye.
Congrats OP!

Vilanelle · 24/09/2019 10:37

Thanks everyone, I still cant let myself believe it though!

I can’t imagine how agonising the wait must be

AloneLonelyLoner · 24/09/2019 11:13

That's a definite positive!

smokeytoby · 24/09/2019 11:15

Please update when you find out! Fingers crossed OP!

moveitorloseit · 24/09/2019 11:21

Those second pics definitely look positive. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

mcmooberry · 24/09/2019 11:27

I have done a LOT of pregnancy tests over the years and that definitely looks positive to me, I hope it is!!!

Lovethetimeyouhave · 24/09/2019 11:44

Looks positive to me now!!

Vilanelle · 24/09/2019 11:46

Oh thanks everyone, I am still in shock (and disbelief!) I will definitely update you all tomorrow morning.

Shameless placemark. Good luck!!

Hotpinkangel19 · 24/09/2019 12:05

Placemarking! Good luck!

Stephminx · 24/09/2019 12:28

Good luck - I got negatives on both of my pregnancies with cheap boots tests but positives with clear blue. I ended up buying the one which actually has the window which says pregnant / not pregnant as my lines were so faint.

Looks like a line to me.
