Would desperately like to meet someone and can't. Just a moan, I'm so very unhappy.

You're not too old for online dating. I met my now DH when I was 42. It takes a lot of trawling through the losers and twats but there must be someone out there - you just have to take the leap and make the effort.

OP, in the nicest way, you need to drag yourself out of this pit of negativity. You won't be an attractive prospect as a partner if you don't have a positive attitude towards it. Also you will reek of desperation which puts men off. A confident, sassy woman is so much more attractive to be and to be with.

Maybe you are a bit depressed? If you can't see any light at the end of the tunnel, maybe see your GP. There are some good youtube videos and Ted talks on positive thinking and mindset.

I met someone in my 40s. and I have friends doing online dating in their 50s and 60s quite successfully. There is a lot of meeting and weeding out unsuitables, but that in itself can be fun. If you go into it with no expectations, then you can just have fun dates and see what happens.

Best of luck

@userxx basically yes. As a single parent I can't really commit to a regular night out. It's either dating or occasional nights out with friends. I don't have the time or finances to do both.

I understand how you feel. Being single is not for everyone. There are many of us who find it stressful and heartbreaking.

My advice to you is to think: is there any way in my current life that I could meet someone? Am I being as open and as outgoing as I could be? If the answer is 'no', then perhaps think about doing something like a course or a class in something that will give you the opportunity to meet new people?
