@Trewser you know exactly what you are saying and I wont engage further.
The 2 car, 2 holidays, takeaway eating, fashion loving, long haul flying generations!
This baffles me. I am now a high ish earner. It's only recently. I havent flown for years. I know one person who does multiple time a year.
On the takeaway on 2 car fronts though, there is lots the government can do. For example. I live near enough to work that I could walk. But ds got into a school a 15-20 minute drive away. Not the local one I could walk him to. So I need a car and have to use it everyday.
I drive 20 mins away from my office to school and then back to work. Then from work and back to school. Its 2 buses to get there and 2 back. Working 8-5 I cant do that. I also have to spend £15 per day. On childcare to do the hours.
Dp is passing his driving test so he can pick him up earlier. It's a long day for an 8 year old. He doesnt want to come is 5.45 and wait for his dinner. Sometimes he is starving. So, yes we do have take aways.
I would produce less emmissions if ds had go into a local school. Maybe not have a car at all, though my car is a work vehicle.
We had 2 cars when I was with exh. Because we both needed to work. It wasnt a luxury. We couldn't both work full time and sort the kids (one ia now almost an adult) without 2 cars. Paying the bills on one wage would have been a struggle and neither of us felt it wa safe to give up earning potential.
I would love to bloody not have a car. Unfortunately in real life its not always practical. No one in my parents generation, that I knew had 2 cars. Lots didnt have one
