to be annoyed by this car outside my house?

I know I am legally BU as they're doing nothing wrong but I'm still irritated!

I live on a cul-de-sac (back to back terrace) the only people who park here are the residents. The norm/unspoken rule is that residents park right outside their houses and visitors/temp parkers usually have the decency to park on the other side of the street (no houses on that side, just a green).

The houses on the other side of the terrace have on street parking outside their houses too.

Someone parked right outside my house on Saturday and hasn't fecking moved since!! (Def hasn't moved as between me and my overly invested neighbour someone has been here during that entire time!).

I had a dream last night about letting the air out of their tyres 😂.

I know IABU but AIBU though???

It’s a bit odd, but hopefully they’ll move it soon, someone has parked an bloody ugly old camper van outside my house so I can see it from my window, still not sure why they can’t park in front of their own house
People are weird

Souwest · 19/09/2019 10:03

A bad person might sneak out at night and put a note "sorry I hit your car I checked and can't see any obvious damage. You may not be able to see it. Hope it's safe to drive "

ViciousTrollop · 19/09/2019 10:09

Souwest A bad person y'say..................

I did a bit of revenge research and apparently if you put bird seed all over the roof of a car the birds eat it and then will crap all over the car.........

@Souwest That is clever. Grin

KUGA · 19/09/2019 10:22

Seeds and bread and a little jam for insects.
Whoever it belongs to will come back to a bag of sh..

EskewedBeef · 19/09/2019 10:24

Don't you just park on the 'visitors'' side of the street when this happens?

bridgetreilly · 19/09/2019 10:25

YABVU. Not only are they parking completely legally, you have no idea of the actual circumstances. Maybe they are visiting a parent who is unwell, for instance. Just park on the other side of the street and be grateful you don't have anything bigger to worry about.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 19/09/2019 10:26

Have you checked it online for tax and MOT? I've noticed the odd random car not moving for weeks on my street, checked, nd they are always run out of tax/mot.

70sWitch · 19/09/2019 10:30

Reading with interest for the evil plots as my neighbour drives me insane parking directly in front of my house every day even though he has room in front of his own AND a fecking drive.

Of course he does other stuff that's annoying homicidal rage inducing too, so I may be overreacting Grin

Buyitinbamboo · 19/09/2019 10:40

I'd check the tax and MOT just purely because it's odd they have left it there since the weekend.

Dontbsicily · 19/09/2019 10:41

YANBU IMO but, I get extremely bothered by things like this and my DP (who is quite laid back) thinks I need to get a life.

In reality, it doesn't affect you (us) but, that doesn't stop it being really annoying Grin

There's a lad a few doors down from us on our side of the road, and he parks his sports car, complete with a classy bumper sticker that says 'Fake taxi' on it, directly opposite our drive. Eventually, DP mentioned it politely in passing conversation and he stopped but, I had to moan about it for a while before laid back Lucy would listen to me.

Feel for you that you don't know the culprit! Loving some of the suggestions though!

doublesheesh · 19/09/2019 10:41

70sWitch what does he do/say if you turn park outside his house? Wouldn't he figure out he would rather have his car out front than yours?

ViciousTrollop · 19/09/2019 10:42

Yeah it showing as having tax and MOT so unlikely to be abandoned. Maybe they've gone on holiday!

I'm aware of how petty it is to be annoyed but hey, we all have our foibles 🤷

Does someone have a guest staying a few days?

70sWitch · 19/09/2019 10:44

Ah. If only. But I don't drive as I'm disabled
I could hire a skip I suppose Grin

GabsAlot · 19/09/2019 10:45

Of course legally theyre doing nothing wrong i hate al this you cant park in front of my house

mypuddin · 19/09/2019 10:50

It's legally parked but you could still report it to 101 give them the registration and the VIN number (drivers side bottom of window) in case it's stolen. Stolen cars are often left on residential cul-de-sacs for a few days while the theives check there's no tracker on it. The VIN will assist police checking if it's showing a false registration plate.

If it's not stolen then unfortunately there's nothing to be done.

loobyloo1234 · 19/09/2019 10:51

YANBU but general consensus on MN is people can park where they like

I live in a cul-de-sac also, if someone parks outside my house and I have something heavy to bring in, shopping etc, it really grinds my gears. But I guess we all just have to suck it up (even though I would never park outside someone elses house for days and days unless it was a necessity)

70sWitch · 19/09/2019 10:54

No. Not doing anything illegal, but it's bloody rude and irritating and frankly I might be able to forgive him if he, after parking his hideous rust bucket in front of my house; didnt then spend the next hour and a half banging out merry little tunes on the party wall.
Just WHY?
This time of day is now known as "knock O clock" which isnt as fun as it sounds Grin

fedup21 · 19/09/2019 10:55

This happened to us recently. The next door’s twatty boyfriend parked right outside our house -not actually covering but inconsiderate parking- right up to the edge of our drive making it very difficult for us to get off and onto the road. They left it there for a month and went skiing!

Our other neighbours (who I had moaned about it to) spoke to him when they got back and he was really shirty saying he’d left it outside his house and was perfectly allowed to do that. He looked affronted when told it was actually outside our house, not his!

They had a bloody empty (3 car) driveway as well!

Perfectly legal, obvious but why would you need to do that?

BrendasUmbrella · 19/09/2019 10:56

I love the idea of that note! They won't be able to find anything wrong but it will stay on their mind for ages. And restore their karmic balance for making you think about their car for days. Do it!

ViciousTrollop · 19/09/2019 10:56

looby that's it in a nutshell. I would never do it because it's incredibly inconsiderate.

I wouldn't have been bothered if it had just been for a few hours but to park right outside someone else's front door for 5 days? That's selfish dickhead behaviour.

OP posts:
TheMarschallin · 19/09/2019 10:56

FFS just ignore it! And be grateful that you can normally park outside your house.

I am currently parked 50m away from my front door as the road is busy. We have no off street parking, just tons of vans for building work.
You have no idea how lucky you are. I can go weeks without being able to park near my house.

longwayoff · 19/09/2019 10:57

This is how you all spend your time? Bloody hell Confused

IncrediblySadToo · 19/09/2019 10:57

YANBU To be annoyed ‍🤷🏻‍♀️

YWBU to do anthing more than check to see if it’s been reported as stolen.

Causing birds to shit all over it or whatever would just be nasty. You have no idea why they’re parked there.
