to be annoyed by this car outside my house?

I know I am legally BU as they're doing nothing wrong but I'm still irritated!

I live on a cul-de-sac (back to back terrace) the only people who park here are the residents. The norm/unspoken rule is that residents park right outside their houses and visitors/temp parkers usually have the decency to park on the other side of the street (no houses on that side, just a green).

The houses on the other side of the terrace have on street parking outside their houses too.

Someone parked right outside my house on Saturday and hasn't fecking moved since!! (Def hasn't moved as between me and my overly invested neighbour someone has been here during that entire time!).

I had a dream last night about letting the air out of their tyres 😂.

I know IABU but AIBU though???

Because I live fairly close (30-40 mins) from an airport, friends from further afield often come and stay with me the night before a flight, leave their cars here, and I drive them to/from the airport. They park in my road, almost invariably outside someone else's house.

One friend's husband became unwell just before flying home, and they ended up staying here for a week, while he recovered, in addition to the 2 weeks they'd been away. On the day they left, a woman came out of the house they'd parked outside and had a right go at them.

My mate has a short fuse at the best of times and gave her a right dressing down, starting with "I'm terribly sorry that you were inconvenienced by my husband's critical illness..." and then getting ruder and ruder until she closed by saying "... and if you don't like it, you can go fuck yourself!"

I still park outside that woman's house if I can't park outside mine, and we left our motorhome outside hers for a month earlier in the year. Grin

Not wanting to derail op, but I neeeeeed to know.. thrashes about why people park on the road when they have empty driveways??!

In my case, the drive is mostly occupied by DPs motorbikes.

Fabulous!

We both work from home so occasionally have to park on the street if a customer is coming and the other one of us needs to go out as the drive is only one car wide.

When visitors of neighbouring houses do this to me I block them in then go into slow mode when they ask me to move.

Fucking twats don't park
In my spaces.

Someone once had a right go at my MIL for doing this in the area we lived in.
The person was so entitled she didn't even seem to rethink when it was explained that the car had been there several days because I had just given birth, there was one dc in critical care and the rest of us in hospital and she was trying to help out.
No, not having a strangers car outside her house trumped a near dead dc needing looked after. Unbelievable.

Lucked · 19/09/2019 19:23

The fact that you are annoyed annoys me. Get over it and no notes or pranks!

Cheeserton · 19/09/2019 20:22

Seriously leave people the feck alone when they're parked legally on the road.

adaline · 19/09/2019 21:06

Are you my neighbour?!

She doesn't drive but anytime anyone parks outside her house she peers out of the window at them and I think writes the number plate down too 😂 not sure what she plans to do with that information?!

I was parking there today (the rest of the street was full) and no sooner had I pulled in she was peering at me through her blinds!

Lemonlady22 · 19/09/2019 21:08

i have a driveway, but as my house was built in the 1930s i would have to buy a Hillman Imp to fit in it, todays cars are way too big. Anyway i have recently had a disabled bay put outside my house due to a long term illness and as a courtesy said to my neighbours about it, the woman didnt even ask if i was okay, she just said ' where are we gonna park' two big cars, able bodied people worried about walking a short distance to their front door Confused

73Sunglasslover · 19/09/2019 21:17

Do you never park outside anyone else's house? What about streets with houses on both sides? Do you just never drive there as you can't park anywhere without being outside someone'e house?

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 19/09/2019 21:18

I parked outside someone's house whilst I went for a walk. When I got back they'd put a note on my car calling me selfish Grin. I can never park outside my own bloody house as all the students that live around me have about 9 million cars each so I think it's a bit precious.

FiddlesticksAkimbo · 19/09/2019 21:19

Is anyone able to articulate what is actually annoying about it? I'm genuinely interested!

DogHasEatenTheSqueaker · 19/09/2019 21:24

All the note leaving, (dream) tyre deflating, bird poo smearing surely would only result in the car being left outside your house longer, whilst car owner deals with the issue that you caused?

Best case scenario, the car is moved when it would be moved anyway, but your front garden gets covered in the shloshing of a billion bird turds being washed off a roof...
