AIBU to want to eat this Bolognaise that's been in the over all night!

Yesterday I cooked some Spaghetti Bolognaise. Used fresh beef mince, fried it, added sauce and cooked in oven. Was planning on taking it out once cooled and putting in fridge for today.

Forgot!

Have now turned on oven and realized it's been in there all night!

It's in a Pyrex casserole dish with a lid on.

Is it safe to eat it to now or do I need to bin it?

It’ll be fine!

CatFaceCats · 18/09/2019 17:42

I would, but I’m pretty lax about stuff like this! Re-heat throughly!

vodkaredbullgirl · 18/09/2019 17:42

Just eat it, it has been covered up.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 18/09/2019 17:42

I would. I'd heat it well though.

LoseLooseLucy · 18/09/2019 17:44

100% I’d eat it 👍🏼

Italiangreyhound · 18/09/2019 17:45

Wow, thanks, I hate wasting food, especially if I have actually cooked it myself.

I would, make sure it's reheated properly all the way through.

You shouldn't put food in the fridge unless fully cooled down anyway, so can't see the issue.

coconutpie · 18/09/2019 17:48

Good god no way would I eat it. Mince is one of the best ways to get food poisoning if left out for too long, even if you reheat it fully.

FrauHaribo

"You shouldn't put food in the fridge unless fully cooled down anyway, so can't see the issue." That's why I left it to cool down but I left it inside the oven instead of on the hob.

Glad to hear it should be OK.

Thanks

I would probably eat it once it has been reheated really thoroughly. My reasoning is that the air in the oven will be sterile due to the high temperatures when used for cooking, also the air in the cooking dish will be sterile as it has been cooked. The Bolognese would have been cooked long enough to be sterile and there won't be any bugs in the oven. I have absolutely no idea whether this is actually true... It is just what I think ...

PickAChew · 18/09/2019 17:55

Yuck.

RainOrSun · 18/09/2019 17:55

I'd eat that. It's been in a closed oven.

violetswordfish · 18/09/2019 17:57

I wouldn't eat it - mince has a lot of bacteria that isn't all killed by cooking. It's OK to leave it out for a few hours but overnight until now is almost 24 hours at room temperature which is a long time for bacteria to breed back up to harmful levels. Reheating it won't kill everything.

If it was just vegetables I probably would but not mince.

Oblomov19 · 18/09/2019 17:58

Totally fine!

Absa · 18/09/2019 17:58

I do stuff like this all the time and eat it. Only exception really is chicken based things that I'd avoid. Enjoy!

Skyejuly · 18/09/2019 17:59

I'd eat it x

Cohle · 18/09/2019 18:00

I'd eat it!

kjhkj · 18/09/2019 18:01

I would generally eat it. But a few weeks ago I did exactly the same with a lasagne. I then had violent food poisoning which was awful. Luckily I was the only one who ate it and I didn't give it to the kids.

Yoohoo16 · 18/09/2019 18:01

Yeh I’d eat it.

TheQuaffle · 18/09/2019 18:04

I would heat it very well / nuke in the microwave and eat it. Yum!
