I'm honestly ashamed to admit I don't know jack about the history of this area. Is this a 'land grab' by Turkey or a religious/ethnic issue?

For a bit of variety, a new groping allegation.

“I was just walking to the bathroom. I was grabbed and pulled behind a tapestry, and it was him. And I’m a tall girl and I had six-inch heels on, and I still remember looking up at him. And he’s strong, and he just kissed me,” she recounted to us. “I was so scared because of who he was... I don’t even know where it came from. I didn’t have a say in the matter.”

I missed this and didn't realise where Paul Ryan had washed up:

And I went on browsing about and found this, too:

The Washington Examiner? I thought they were pretty conservative, like the Washington Times -- and they are covering the same story,

yolofish · 09/10/2019 21:55

The Orange One was just on BBC, explaining that Anne Saccoolas (sp) was merely confused when she drove out of the US base on the wrong side of the road and hit and killed poor Harry Dunn. It's even the kind of mistake the biggest, greatest man in the world could make - only luckily he didnt. fucking tosser.

Sleipnirthewonderhorse · 09/10/2019 22:31

Anne Saccoolas (sp) was merely confused when she drove out of the US base on the wrong side of the road and hit and killed poor Harry Dunn
and presumably confused when she immediately caught a plane out of the country to escape having to face any consequences?
If he's honestly arguing that Americans can't help but have accidents if they drive on the left, then then he's arguing for Americans not to be allowed to drive here.
Mind you, the report I read of his speech sound like a very strange stream of consciousness. "Why it's ok to run people over if they're not on the American side of the road" was nowhere near the weirdest part.

Trump says the Kurds did not help with Normandy so basically, no quid pro quo.

Can we just stop for a minute and remember that the Kurds we are talking about are rabid secular Maoists??

We spent 40 years fighting communists less radical then the PKK.

So disgusting - these are the services that keep us safe, yet these people are perfectly fine with character destruction from afar. Certainly some corruption exists, yes, but I’m comfortable in asserting that by far the majority are not - and have served their country well.

Thanks for the Geo-political lesson, lion! I feel a bit more in the know there.

I'm home tomorrow night. Looks like I've got quite a bit of catching up to do!

The Kurds and Normandy? Really? REALLY? At least I wasn't THAT ignorant!

Roussette · 10/10/2019 07:46

I watched the presser with Trump talking about the death of Harry Dunn.

"It happens"
"It was an accident"
And he cracks a joke about he's driven on the wrong side of the road and one of his Aides stood behind him laughs.

I hope Harry's parents have got the strength to take this further. I think they're going to the US, I hope every news channel has them on and I hope they get some justice.

What with that and the Kurds and Trump's about turn and saying they just want their land, that's all.

It just gets worse and worse.

His complete indifference to the suffering of others is chilling:(
It lines up with the malignant narcissist theory, on which more in this podcast interview with George Conway:
www.stitcher.com/podcast/cafe/stay-tuned-with-preet
'George Conway, conservative lawyer and outspoken Trump critic, joins Preet Bharara for a special episode of Stay Tuned, "Diagnosing Trump." A longstanding member of the Federalist Society who played a critical role in Clinton's impeachment, Conway is one of the few conservative voices openly challenging Trump’s presidency—and calling for his impeachment.
You may be familiar with Conway’s other half: Kellyanne Conway, who currently serves as Counselor to the President. Despite his wife’s work, Conway continues to publicly pen—on Twitter and in editorials—his virulent criticisms of Trump.
In this exclusive, wide-ranging interview, Conway discusses why Trump’s narcissism renders him incapable of carrying out presidential duties, the likelihood and contours of impeachment, the 2020 presidential election, and whether history will be kind to those who stayed silent during Trump’s tenure'

I just started listening to that today, Rhino.
