From back in Decemeber:

'This shouldn’t get lost in the avalanche of crazy. The wall we need is between DOJ and the White House. The foundation of our democracy- the rule of law- depends on it.' Sally Q. Yates.

Tax things and not good for Trump:

As is usual, the thing to look for in any Trump accusation is what he is doing himself that is in line with it. Trump finds it completely plausible that Joe Biden would use his influence to help his son, because it is what he would do himself. And indeed what he has done himself, in spades.

If Trump said someone else had been buggering rhinos, I would want to check whether he had been seen at his local zoo recently.

lionheart · 07/10/2019 22:30

He is strangely transparent when it comes to projection.

Go figure:

www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-syria-turkey-lindsey-graham-twitter-pomepo-isis-assad-iran-middle-east-a9146161.html

'Senator Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican who has closely aligned himself with Donald Trump on foreign policy issues, blasted the president on Twitter over his decision pull the US military out of Syria.

The senator slammed Mr Trump over the move, saying it would lead to the revival of the Islamic State, hamper US-Turkish relations and serve as “a stain” on America’s honour. '

Mr Rainbow can actually SING.

I can’t imagine why the US is pulling out of this treaty. There just doesn’t seem a good reason to do so - unless they’ve been asked to break the treaty by someone, or it’s part of their isolationist push. Either way, I don’t like it, particularly coming on the back of the fact they won’t be supporting the Kurds - their allies - in Syria.

The Trump administration is pulling out of the Open Skies Treaty, which allows the United States and our allies and partners in Europe to monitor Russian military deployments. Withdrawal risks dividing the transatlantic alliance.

As all this happens, I have a terrible feeling - that has been growing - that we have all been subject to a con by Russia. Russia installed this utter insufferable idiot of a President, who has only the capacity to divide and deceit, so we have grown to abhor him and, by association, the United States. The geopolitical world is now highly unstable - just the right environment for, say, a Russian-led war. Trump can’t lead anything. At this point, he is dispensable. Here is my core worry: have we been doing the job of the Russians by encouraging the hate against Trump (however deserved?) Do you understand what I’m getting at?

lionheart · 08/10/2019 05:44

Yes. It is not possible to trust the US with Trump in the WH.

www.inquisitr.com/5679302/donald-trump-no-ammunition-top-general/

You lot are being horribly unfair. When Trump assessed the situation he saw that resources were being wasted and that there was a danger of the troops runnng out of ammunition, the way they did under Obama. Quite possibly they'll return to Syria once they've a fresh supply of the very best bullets ever.

If Daniel Dale is right, then the giveaway clues are screaming Daddy Issues: big men of great strength who acknowledge Trump's superiority by calling him 'sir'.

If FOX turns...

Trump’s favorite punching bag is reaching out to fellow Republicans to raise the temperature on impeachment. “Romney is the one guy who could bring along Susan Collins, Cory Gardner, Ben Sasse,” says a Mitt confidant.

www.vanityfair.com/news/2019/10/mitt-romney-wont-primary-trump-but-trying-to-bring-him-down-impeachment-2020

“There’s been a real increase in nervousness over the past three or four weeks,” a prominent GOP member told me. “Everybody sees what Trump did as such a clear abuse of power,” said another prominent Republican. “Whether it’s criminal or not is another issue. But it’s so blatantly over the line.”

There’s no flood of GOP refugees yet—but there’s unmistakable drift. Trump’s approval rating among Republicans is 87%, a drop of four points since mid September, according to the latest Gallup tracking poll. Meanwhile, Trump’s firewall at Fox News, a vital bulwark that protects his GOP base, has also shown signs of cracking. Tucker Carlson conceded in an op-ed that Trump’s actions were indefensible, though not impeachable. Fox News legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano called Trump’s Ukraine actions “criminal and impeachable behavior” last week. Behind the scenes, Fox board member Paul Ryan has privately told Fox Corp CEO Lachlan Murdoch to cut ties with Trump.

What gave you that impression? Wink

But I see what you mean. Grin

Still, I think most people can see the difference between the US and Trump. But, yes, he's managed to undermined the US internally and their external position too. I just thought that was a given.

TheClaws · 08/10/2019 09:53

But Lweji - I suppose I mean that feel used somewhat. Does that make more sense?

Be my guest Born. There are never enough synonyms for bullshit when it comes to Scrotus or Brexit.

As a side note...
I've typed Scrotus often enough now that it shows up in my automatic words anytime I type 'Scr'.

More obstruction.

Donald Trump said he prevented the US ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, from testifying to congressional impeachment hearings, calling them a “kangaroo court.

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/oct/08/impeachment-donald-trump-gordon-sondland-testimony-house-democrats?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

Sondland’s attorney, Robert Luskin, said his client had been eager to answer questions from the House committees, but had been instructed by the state department early on Tuesday not to attend.

Later in the morning, Trump went on Twitter to say he ordered Sondland to be blocked.

“I would love to send Ambassador Sondland, a really good man and great American, to testify, but unfortunately he would be testifying before a totally compromised kangaroo court, where Republicans’ rights have been taken away, and true facts are not allowed out for the public to see,” the president tweeted.

Republicans are pushing for equal rights as the minority party to issue subpoenas, and the White House has said it will not respond to subpoenas until such rights are granted.

Absolutely no politics here cozie. It's in equal measures nice and frustrating since all the shit started hitting the fan just as my plane took off so I'm 80% out of the loop. Lol. Thank God for this thread and y'all so I've not been completely in bum fuck Egypt.

But I'm home Friday with lots of stuff on the DVR to bring myself up to date. Or give myself an apoplexy.
