If its supposed to be a muzzle/blindfold, it hasn't left enough space for the animal to be able to breathe and open its mouth.

It's a cat muzzle - they are supposed to be used for a very short amount of time on an aggressive cat when trying to carry out treatment, usually blood sampling. They are supposed to prevent the cat from biting and by covering the eyes try to help calm it down - if it can't see to attack then it can't attack. They have a small hole to fit the nose through so the cat can breathe. Usually a last port of call and used in conjunction with wrapping in a towel to stop scratching too.

I've found them mainly useless in the past though - if the cat is aggressive enough to need one then you aren't likely to get close enough to put one on and they can shake them off easily if not tight enough.

Of course they can breathe. It’s not designed to be left on at all, not to travel in and not for any length of time.

They can’t open the mouth on purpose so us poor souls trying to touch said angry beast don’t get savaged
Also not being able to see often calms them down, they like dark, calm and quiet.

The main issue with these is getting close enough to the angry mouth past the claws to get it on in the first place, hence rarely used and I prefer other methods.

Yes, I get mauled by angry cats daily

We had an extremely aggressive cat. She got put into something like that for exams. Though there was also a body binding.

As others have said, it's a cat muzzle. Usually used for taking blood samples. Quite old school, I haven't seen one for a while.

The cat in that video is not an angry cat - at least, it wasn't before they bundled it up in a blanket and put an S&M mask on it. It just lay there like a (dare I say) pussycat as they bound and gagged it.

Either of my lads would have seen me in A&E before they would have submitted to that sort of indignity.
