WIBU to buy 7 of the same jumper

I picked a jumper up in town on Friday and wore it to work today and I am OBSESSED with it.

It's so soft and cosy and warm but not bulky. It's plain enough to go with anything but has a small amount of shoulder and sleeve detailing in exactly my style. It's the perfect length, it's slimming.

It's perfect for work and would also look dressy with some skinny jeans and heeled boots for an evening out.

WIBU to buy 3 more in one colour (so 4 all together) and two in a different colour or have I completely lost my mind??

I have basically found the perfect jumper and I never want to wear anything else.

I love that. Been a tiny 5’1 should actually fit me x

1forAll74 · 17/09/2019 02:06

Yes, good idea to buy exactly what you want, its great to get something that you know is just right for you,so buying the item in many colours is great. I would do the same myself.

GibbonLover · 17/09/2019 02:07

Primark did a jumper three years ago which was absolutely spot on for me. I ended up with three in black, two in grey, two in pink and one in blue. The duplicates got folded and put away. I still have three unworn jumpers. One had to be cut up for beanbag stuffing after I snagged it but the other four are still going strong, having been defuzzed a couple of times and always washed as per instructions. Sometimes, amongst the crap, Primark do some real gems and this was one of them.

LiveInAHidingPlace · 17/09/2019 02:57

I do it all the times because I rarely find anything I like in the shops.

Fatted · 17/09/2019 02:57

I do this all the time OP. Once I know I love something, I will buy it in all the different colours.

If you look at 'personal uniforms' on somewhere like pintrest you will realise that it's actually a 'thing'. Some of the people considered to be the most stylish and best dressed do it apparently!

flyingspaghettimonster · 17/09/2019 03:02

Yanbu. And if that is your style, I suggest trying Dresslily online. Everything we ordered was awesome and good quality and very much the style you seem to like.

dontgobaconmyheart · 17/09/2019 03:20

It's not for me personally, i couldn't get excited by it. I wouldn't buy multiples of distinctive things, especially before seeing how they washed I don't think.

Not trying to rain on your parade though OP, you're definitely not BU to get multiples if you like it, I do of pretty much anything comfy or anything that fits that's usually a pain to find -bras, shoes etc so I do get it.

HopeIsNotAStrategy · 17/09/2019 03:35

Do it, just occasionally in life you come across a garment you want a lifetime’s supply of.

(Mind you, this is advice coming from a woman who once did some research and then bought ten of the same fish slice so she never had to get using a new one again, so feel free to ignore...)

JaceLancs · 17/09/2019 07:22

I do this with jumpers, cardigans and coats but buy same item in different colours
I might try buying 2 of black and navy though and put one away to replace when worn out

Ohyesiam · 17/09/2019 07:24

When I found the most flattering jeans in the world I bought 3 pairs. I would have bought more if I could afford them. Go for it.

Elphame · 17/09/2019 07:30

I once bought 5 pairs of the perfect summer shoe from Bally. The assistant thought I was mad.

They are all warn out though now and I have never found any half as nice.

Apolloanddaphne · 17/09/2019 07:40

I wash jumpers like that after every wear. Manmade fibres make me very sweaty.

cocomelon23 · 17/09/2019 07:41

I can't see a link anywhere!

flapjackfairy · 17/09/2019 07:48

I do this as well. I have loads of polo neck jumpers from Roman that I loved. A few in each colour. I am glad I did because they don't do it anymore and I still have a few left that look decent . Though when they are worn out I am sunk !

plunkplunkfizz · 17/09/2019 08:19

YABU to buy more before you’ve washed it a few times. What if you have 7 bobbly/ stretched out jumpers in a month’s time?

Bin85 · 17/09/2019 08:45

Wait and see how it wears and washes?

dollydaydream114 · 17/09/2019 09:48

YANBU! I’ve got the same pair of jeans in blue, black and grey and also a lovely slouchy dress in black, grey and burgundy that I wear for work all the time. Also have Calvin Klein flatform trainers in two colours, which I also wear for work a lot with ankle grazer trousers (sorry, I know in the world of Mumsnet there are people who clutch their pearls and draft an email to HR whenever someone enters an office dressed in anything but a knee-length skirt, buttoned-up blouse and court shoes, but in the real world a lot of offices are smart-casual).

I love it! Good on you, OP! I often buy several versions of the same thing in different colours as I hate shopping.

MrsElf · 17/09/2019 13:59

Well done op. Nothing like that feeling of having something perfect, AND not having to be precious about it (or ‘save it for best’, a frankly evil habit of mine).
I buy jumpers in 2s, and jeans in, well, as many as I can affords, and it saves HOURS in shopping time and angst. plunkplunkfizz has a good point though - it’s best to check how well jumpers wash.

PerkingFaintly I love carpe cardi, I am adopting that as my motto, hope you don’t mind Grin

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 17/09/2019 14:02

It took me years to learn to do this.
YEARS.
Now I buy stuff in 2s or 3s when I find the perfect jumper/top/trousers/jeans/bra - because I know by the time I need to go and buy them again because they've worn out, I won't be able to!

Shame I can't afford to do it with boots as well...

thecatneuterer · 17/09/2019 14:07

I have my favourite ankle boot in seven different colours (Hotter Pixie). If you like something then why not?

thecatneuterer · 17/09/2019 14:08

Oh yes, and I do the same with Uniqlo stuff all the time.

TattiePants · 17/09/2019 14:21

I do this all the time. I recently bought a T-shirt that I liked so I went back and bought 6 more. I also bought some shoes in the sale last month, liked them, so went back and bought another identical pair for when they wear out.

KUGA · 17/09/2019 14:22

I have three pairs of the same comfy trousers in black and three in blue.
I do comfort not style, it`s my age I guess.
