He is two.

He wants to be a food stuff - such as a pain au chocolat, stew or cake.

We were baking pain earlier and he proceeded to put his soft toy turtle into the pastry and said he wanted to be in the pastry too and get warmed up in the oven.

Am I raising a strange child or is this normal? 😂🐢🥐

My 2 year old dd wants to be purple.

Magneticred · 15/09/2019 21:49

Ds4 wanted to be a chocolate cake when he was 2 at 3 he wanted to be a digger. He now wants to be a fireman at 4. Dd2 wanted to be a snowman for a short period of time that was interesting in the middle of summer when she needed to wear a scarf and hat and refusal would cause almighty tantrums I gave it and waited it out for her to complain she was too hot.

BertieBotts · 15/09/2019 21:50

Get him a book called Pete's a Pizza - it's great :o about a little boy who pretends to be a pizza.

DobbieFreeElf · 15/09/2019 21:50

My 2 year old announced he wants to be “a clown” I laughed and he said “don’t laugh, I be a scary clown”... Hmm

MrGsFancyNewVagina · 15/09/2019 21:55

Eek! Mini IT! 🤡

Blueshadow · 15/09/2019 22:13

My dd passionately wanted to be an elf in Santa’s Workshop for a number of years.

CmdrCressidaDuck · 15/09/2019 22:16

My 4yo wants to grow up into a whale shark.

TheQuaffle · 15/09/2019 22:17

I too wish to be a pain au chocolat

Echobelly · 15/09/2019 22:21

I'm pretty sure DD wanted to be a carrot when she was 2! Grin

longwayoff · 15/09/2019 22:34

My 2 year old expressed no wish to be a foodstuff but yearned for his very own telegraph pole just like the one along the road which he used to hug at every opportunity Hmm

MotherOfTheNoise · 15/09/2019 22:52

My brother wanted to be a police dog growing up. Not the handler (we verified this with him). He wanted to be an actual police dog.

FusionChefGeoff · 15/09/2019 22:54

she was ace and I miss her.

That has touched me tonight and I've read that over and over. Don't know why, remembering all my ace friends from then too I suppose.

I too hope she is on here and you find her again in your lifetime.

FusionChefGeoff · 15/09/2019 22:55

Oh FFS bold / quote fail, that's for @Milkstick

Shinyletsbebadguys · 15/09/2019 23:04

Ds2 wants to be a train .....most definitely not a train driver , nope a train . He is very clear on this.

Ds1 in the past has decided to be a dinosaur (several times ) , a rocket , a robot and a puppy (the bloody yapping went on for weeks and drove me nuts , that phase was extremely hard work)

Perfectly normal and I've stored them up for blackmail purposes if they are ever needed

BringOnTheScience · 15/09/2019 23:14

DC1 spent about 2 years being a dog. Got teally good at running around on all fours. Used to drive their trachers mad!

DC2 was so determined to be Captain Jack Sparrow that they accompanied themselves with theme music constantly.

wonkylegs · 15/09/2019 23:15

My brother wanted to be a bin when he was 4 - I remember because I thought he was stupid but it was also very funny (he ended up being a photographer)
DS1 at 3 insisted he wanted to grow up to be a dinosaur, made me make him a costume which he never took off (he was a cute dinosaur) he's now 11 and thinks I'm making it up, luckily I have photos.
Small kids often say the weirdest things it's normal, it's one of the pleasures of having them

Blamangeme · 15/09/2019 23:25

This is one of the cutest funniest threads I've seen! Grin

FlamedToACrisp · 15/09/2019 23:35

I used to wrap my kids in a duvet to make them into a sausage roll... they loved it

Sceptre86 · 16/09/2019 07:29

I had to laugh at this! My 3 year old loudly declared she wants to be an ice cream when she grows up when her grandad asked her what she wanted to be, my 2 year old dd said a London bus.

thetwinkles · 16/09/2019 07:37

It seems perfectly acceptable to identify as anything you like these days Grin

StCharlotte · 16/09/2019 07:42

I was talking to a three year old whose father was a woodsman, mother was an earth mother type, vegans, older siblings homeschooled, virtually lived off-grid, you get the picture. So I was quite surprised when she said she wanted to be a copper's wife when she grew up. Silly me, turns out she'd actually said "coppicer" Confused

RabbityMcRabbit · 16/09/2019 07:46

When my younger DD was a similar age she wanted to be a strawberry muffin. Seems it's a normal stage for some children. I shouldn't worry OP.

Yabadee · 16/09/2019 07:50

My 4 yo DD announced last year that when she grows up she wants to be a traffic light.

pooopypants · 16/09/2019 07:53

My DS wants to ride a dinosaur (specifically a red T-rex) when he grows up

It's cute 🤩

ShagMeRiggins · 16/09/2019 07:56

I’d keep a sharp eye on that, OP. Your child is clearly one short step from wanting to be someone’s tampon. Hmm
