To report to school what my DD told me about this lunchtime supervisor?

Namechangingforthis2019 · 14/09/2019 14:03

Dd(8) told me that yesterday she saw a lunchtime supervisor take a fish finger off the tray at the serving hatch with her fingers and eat it. Dd said no other adults saw, she has seen this staff member do this before.
Would you email school and pass on what dd said?

A few bits of context -

  • I believe dd, she is not likely to have made this up
  • lunchtime supervisor has been working there about 30 years. She’s very harsh with the kids (based on what dd has told me) and anecdotally other parents have said even the staff are a bit scared of her!
  • school has an outbreak of norovirus last week so have been very hot on infection control, washing hands etc.

I know she probably didn’t touch anyone else’s food, but it’s not right is it? If nothing else it’s unprofessional and sets a bad example to the kids. But I don’t want to bother the school if it’s not really a big deal.

Would you report it or leave it?

Yabu = I should not report it
yanbu = I should email the school about it

Have not read the full thread but my response to the OP is

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Is this a joke?? I used to work in a school and the head teacher used to do this so good luck with reporting it. Feel like either tell Jamie oliver or get over it might be your only option here!

This is literally the funniest thing i have read on here LOL!!

Bless you

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 14/09/2019 16:16

I think the OP was angling for a bit of drama and we should all stop carping on about it.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 14/09/2019 16:16

As a five year old I would have said ‘yes she’s my grandma’ in reply to ‘Satan is real’.

So was there any additional info to fishfingergate? Did she lick one and drop it back on a plate? Dip it into the sauce on a child’s plate, bite and double dip? Pick one up, put it down, lick fingers, lick up another, put it down then take a third? Take one and spit on the rest? Does she have a terrible, highly contagious skin condition/food poisoning that means she shouldn’t be near good?

oldsizenines · 14/09/2019 16:18

Wow. Saw this on the MumsnetMadness twitter account and had to come here to check it was real Grin

PlaceYourItemInTheBaggingArea · 14/09/2019 16:19

She'd be gutted if she was caught, but it may give her time to mullet over.

IsobelRae23 · 14/09/2019 16:19

Ooooo I have fish fingers in the freezer, and thick white bread, and butter, and tomato sauce...... can I be arsed to make one???

carsonforPM · 14/09/2019 16:23

Where has the OP gone ....?

To report to school what my DD told me about this lunchtime supervisor?
TanyaChix · 14/09/2019 16:25

I think it’s really sad that you and your daughter think that this sort of thing is worth formally complaining about to an employer. What are you hoping would be suitable punishment for her? What are you possibly hoping to achieve? Would a formal written warning suffice or would you like her to be sacked for eating the fishfinger?

TSSDNCOP · 14/09/2019 16:28

🐟 🖕

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 14/09/2019 16:29

Well the dinner lady may have been skating on thin ice but OP is a bit of a (s)prat to want to report it.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 14/09/2019 16:30

I think we need to leave the daughter alone, I don't think it was anything more than " we did maths, had playtime, Mrs dinner lady took a fish finger from the tray and Archie got told off for messing about with Freddie "
It's the OP who had issues with it.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 14/09/2019 16:31

Ha ha haaaa!!Grin

This is the funniest thread I've read in a long time!

Think your DD “cod” have been lying about the time and “ plaice” of this incident. Make sure they take supervisors fish fingerprints

MutedUser · 14/09/2019 16:38

When you were going to phone the head to report her were you going to tell her something fishy was going on. I mean she might lose her job but at least there is plenty more lunchtime supervisors in the sea to replace her.

FrauHaribo · 14/09/2019 16:41

Fuck me. There’s two of them on here. 🙄

Grin Grin Grin

Must be the first time I actually laughed reading a comment!

Oysterbabe · 14/09/2019 16:46

They won't let her go, she'd just get a pollocking.

MsJRMEsq · 14/09/2019 16:49

They'd just hake over old (fishing) grounds if OP ever brought it up.

PenguinsRabbits · 14/09/2019 16:55

Just plaicemarking Wink

Oh, come ON! GrinGrin

Some threads really reel you in don't they.

Sunflower20 · 14/09/2019 16:58

I don't think it's fair to call DD names, she was just telling her mum about her day...she's 8 ffs

yellowallpaper · 14/09/2019 16:59

Good lord! She didn't lick it and put it back. Stops being ridiculous.

sailingclosetothewind · 14/09/2019 17:02

This is a joke right?

Lilyannarose · 14/09/2019 17:03

Do people really worry about such trivial things?
I can just see the head teacher questioning her over this!

carsonforPM · 14/09/2019 17:05
