Where to sit in a taxi

Just wondering where you sit in taxis when on your own.

If I sit in the back I feel a bit pretentious - drive me driver.

If I sit in the front I feel too close to driver for comfort.

Please vote
yes for front sitting
No for back sitting

Backsea, headphones on.

ilovesooty · 12/09/2019 19:18

I sit in the front. I know most of the regular drivers with my local taxi firm anyway.

curtainpole12 · 12/09/2019 19:29

I was raped by a taxi driver after a night out when I was drunk.
I now force myself to use taxis again but I will always sit in the back

Please everyone sit in the back

passionfruit11 · 12/09/2019 19:40

Always the back

Aprillygirl · 12/09/2019 19:48

Front. I quite like chatting with the driver.

Petrichor11 · 12/09/2019 19:52

Always the back, and I hadn’t realised until this thread, but I always sit behind the passenger seat

Snooky84 · 12/09/2019 22:42

Wow
I guess that really sorts that out.
From now on I will sit in a driving miss daisy position on the back.
Thanks for your help guys xx

As a female if its a male driver in the back, female driver in the front and if I have not clocked the driver then back. I will always message dp as well to let him know I'm in the cab if male driver and tend to send a pic of badge number displayed if its at night. Best to be safe.

buzzwizz619 · 12/09/2019 23:12

I sit in the front, that way I have a clear view of where we are going, drivers taxi ID, can clearly see if they use there phone etc and feel less vulnerable

HoomanMoomin · 12/09/2019 23:20

After I was groped by one sleazy driver I always sit in the back. Furthest away from them.

WhataLovelyPear · 13/09/2019 00:43

Sit on the back. I used to sit in the front and chat to the driver until one particular driver mistook my casual friendliness for an invitation to touch.

Strugglingtodomybest · 13/09/2019 00:54

I don't get taxis by myself very often, usually it's abroad, going from the airport to the hotel, so I like to sit up front and chat with the driver, I normally get a wealth of info out of them about the place I'm visiting. I never considered it was weird before!

returnofthecat · 13/09/2019 08:39

Always the back behind the passenger seat, unless there are other people in the taxi and I have to sit elsewhere. The front is only for when at capacity.

If the driver is chatty, you can chat from the back.

No

I have a sneaky feeling that Dodi and not Princess Diana was sitting in “the safest seat” on their fatal journey. It was his car and his driver...

That's irrelevant because none was wearing a seat belt and they both died, surely.

If you don't wear a seatbelt I doubt anywhere is safer in a car.

TheRLodger · 13/09/2019 14:08

If I’m on my own I’m up front. A lot of the taxis around here are massive 8 seaters and I feel really silly. If there’s more than just me then in the back
