To expect chocolate to taste LIKE CHOCOLATE.

Just bit into a Twix, yes yes I know it’s not real chocolate but it’s friggin vile! I used to really enjoy a twix, nibble around the edges before chomping through the lovely caramel bit. It’s just a flavourless strange oily slick stick I could cry out of frustration. Why can’t they bloody leave things alone, I liked the lidl ones at one point then found them too sweet! So annoyed.

Were there actually whole nuts in the Cadburys, myusernameisunique? Because if they were I’m buying one tomorrow.

Last time I had it I was appalled, absolutely APPALLED I tell you, to find they were in pieces and only about 3 in the entire bloody bar!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 13/09/2019 19:47

I really really wanted to like James Cadbury’s chocolate . But I don’t. He keeps sending me emails. I love the company ethics. But not the chocolate.

Whathappenedtothelego · 13/09/2019 19:59

I quite like Marks and Spencer chocolate, including their chocolate bars. And their giant chocolate buttons.
And I love the Lindt hazelnut pralines - I find the balls and bars a bit sweet though.
I used to love twix, kit kats and cadbury's caramel. All taste far too sweet now (or in the case of caramel, absolutely inedible).

WrongKindOfFace · 13/09/2019 20:05

Another vote for Tony’s. It’s just a shame that they don’t sell the full range here. And it’s about a pound a bar dearer as well.

tillytrotter1 · 13/09/2019 20:18

I quite like Ritter Sport peppermint, straight from the freezer although I've not forgiven them for dropping the Mocha variety.

Hiphopchick · 13/09/2019 20:24

@MrsA2015

YANBU.

Most choc tastes bland or just shit now.

Kitkats
Rolos
Aero
Twix
Mars
Munchies
Topic
Snickers
Most Cadbury's bars (double decker, cadbury's caramel, double decker, picnics etc...)
Yorkies

Only Cadburys Dairy Milk tastes OK, and maltesers and galaxy and ripples.

Very sad. Sad

StrawberrySquash · 13/09/2019 20:29

Lidl in East Ham had giant bars of Ritter Sport for £2 yesterday.

StrawberrySquash · 13/09/2019 20:38

It's not just the waxy grottiness, it's the unreliability. You can buy a product and it's fine, next time you buy it it's awful. And then back to fine. We should all demand refunds on the crap stuff to get the message across.
Godiva is good and in Sainsbury's and Ocado.

Nutellalovesme · 13/09/2019 20:46

I may have to take a trip to that East Ham lidl tomorrow Smile

ColinKnocksTwoPence · 13/09/2019 21:29

I'm rather addicted to Lindt Les Grandes dark chocolate with hazelnut.
It tastes like chocolate used to.

S0uthernBelle · 13/09/2019 21:48

pumpstreetchocolate.com/
You’re welcome 😋 it’s expensive but so delicious and no palm oil just cocoa, sugar and cocoa butter.

Myusernameisunique · 13/09/2019 22:12

@ScrambledSmegs there were plenty on mine! I find the Aldi wholenit or hazelnut bars are full of bits of that’s what you’re looking for though!

MrsCharlesBrandon · 13/09/2019 23:21

Love Chocolate by James Cadbury. Beautiful chocolate, the dark mint is divine and the milk is glorious.

Hate Lindt, most other chocolate is nasty too.

Writersblock2 · 14/09/2019 00:09

Tony’s tastes great but my god it’s annoying as all hell to eat. I would buy it more often if it was in proper chunks. It gets very messy with the odd sized chunks.

UnderperformingSeal · 14/09/2019 01:43

Cadbury is getting some stick here... I've always thought Dairy Milk is somewhat overrated, but I have to say in their defence, IMO they have properly nailed Darkmilk. Dammit that stuff is good.

AgeLikeWine · 14/09/2019 02:19

I agree that cheap, nasty so-called chocolate is disgusting (Galaxy, in particular, is genuinely inedible), so I don’t buy it.

I buy the good stuff instead, and I enjoy it. Problem solved.

So why don’t others do this? Am I missing something? Confused

PinkLacy · 14/09/2019 02:31

We only get the 85% stuff these days, the ones with different flavours eg orange, raspberry, sea salt are lovely.

EveningLight · 14/09/2019 02:36

This is interesting as I’ve never noticed Tony’s so will look out for it.

I’m alarmed by all the reports of palm oil. And glad one other person likes M&S chocolate, I think it’s much more like chocolate used to be and love it when I can ever find it

Shelvesoutofbooks · 14/09/2019 02:38

I like godiva and the nestle artisan stuff

1Wanda1 · 14/09/2019 03:19

Tony's chocolate is sold from their own website and on Ocado for £3.98 a bar (large bar). It is absolutely delicious.

Shebertherbert · 14/09/2019 04:30

I decided to have less chocolate but better quality chocolate earlier in the year. I tried a few varieties and experimented with cocia percentages. Green and blacks is my favourite. Once you get used to it you realise just how bad most average bars are now. I had some Cadbury not long ago and was a claggy (if thats the right word) oily and no real flavour.

FuckFacePlatapus · 14/09/2019 04:56

I use to love Cadburys Creme Eggs but think they do not taste the same anymore, however Galaxy still wins hands down, and Lindt!

FuckFacePlatapus · 14/09/2019 05:01

@TheMustressMhor £14????? 🙀

Longdistance · 14/09/2019 05:08

Lidl version of Twix is amaze balls. I love their chocolate 😋

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 14/09/2019 05:21

I’m with you Colin the Lindt hazelnut is Devine. Pretty much given up on all the rest.
