^What it is really.
Are you a mum/dad? Do you go by your first name? Or are you a pack leader?
We recently got a pet dog, and my kids think it's weird that the dog 'calls' dh and I mum and dad.

By my name. DD is ‘Noisy Girl’. STBXH was ‘Man’. He is allergic to cats.

ContinuityError · 09/09/2019 19:48

I don’t think my cat does names, I’m pretty sure she starts every sentence with FFS though.

FFS it’s time to get up.
FFS where’s my breakfast?
FFS open this door now.

She’s a bit sweary.

Floopily · 09/09/2019 19:50

The dog calls me mummy when she talks to me directly (she sounds a bit like the queen). She'd like to call DH daddy but he thinks it's silly so she calls him Big Human, and he says she calls me Small Human when they are talking about me Hmm

louise5754 · 09/09/2019 19:50

We ate grandma and grandad. Our daughters are the parents.

louise5754 · 09/09/2019 19:51

Are 🙈😂

Papergirl1968 · 09/09/2019 20:09

Momma cat (me) and sister cats (dds). We don’t have a dadda cat as I’m single but we do have a new kitten who is also confusingly sister cat.
Boy cat presents the news - items relevant to cats eg cats have taken over from dogs as the number one pet, a cat has got a bravery award for saving its owner’s life, the price is Dreamies is to go up etc. And the weather forecast - it is going to be very cold tonight so those kitties lucky enough to have indoor toilet facilities are advised to use them. Or, it’s going to wain (he has a lisp) tomorrow so those kitties who have to go out, remember to take your wellies and brolly!
He and his new kitten sister also go to school and come home and tell the dds all about their day!
Reading this back, I sound insane!

Purplespup16 · 09/09/2019 20:16

My dog will look me in the eye and shout MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMM at me... especially when he wants the toilet. 😂 When DH or kids are ignoring him or not doing what he wants I also get Muuuum but much shorter and not shouted. He whines at the others, Muuum is definitely reserved for me! My kids still calls us mum/dad and I still refer DH as Daddy to the kids so we generally refer ourselves as mummy/daddy to the dog. 🤣

SanguinePenguin · 09/09/2019 20:25

Mao... (phonetically m-ah-ow)... Maybe mum?! 🤣... Sounds a bit like Mah... Maybe she's a red-neck 🤣🤣🤣

SanguinePenguin · 09/09/2019 20:27

Definitely Ma rather than Mum🤣

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/09/2019 20:27

The guinea-pigs (all now gone to The Bridge) called me "She -Devil" according to DD.

Y+The cats call me Muuuuthuur and speak in a Russian accent (allegedly)

TooManyPaws · 09/09/2019 20:28

Definitely either MUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMM or mumumumumumumumum depending on which dog and when.

OvO · 09/09/2019 20:29

Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig

I have guinea pigs Grin

TooManyPaws · 09/09/2019 20:31

This one rules the household (other dogs are terrified about getting in her bad books) and is a total cling on now, after a year or so of being standoffish after rescue and adoption. ❤️

Our dogs call us Mum-mum and Dad-dad. It drives my OH mad, so of course they call us by those names even more (good dogs!)Grin

elliejjtiny · 09/09/2019 21:00

DCat calls me "the vet caller". I only usually phone the vet once a year but he doesn't like it and always tries to sit on the phone.

Cat calls me Hooman

relax2 · 09/09/2019 21:05

My dog calls me "mum" usually like this "mum mum mum mum mum mum mum" whilst looking at me as if I'm going to walk him!

user1471453601 · 09/09/2019 21:05

I'm Nan to dear dog. Daughters partner is Mum. DD, according to dog must be god. Dog whines at daughter if it's raining, surely she can stop that?

Dog gets plenty of exercise following daughter from room to room, never mind the time dog spends actually s walking.
Lord forbid we people get between dog and daughter when we walk anywhere. Dog is quite capable of tripping any of us up in order to get to her diety

BeUpStanding · 09/09/2019 21:06

Dog calls me their hooman... as in 'where is my hooman?' and 'Feed me hooman!'. The cat just thinks I'm staff, not sure they've bothered to give me a name or a title

Spenceremma · 09/09/2019 21:08

I have cats. I'm either mummy (in my head) or primary care giver (in theirs)!

tryingtobebetterallthetime · 09/09/2019 21:18

Grandma and Grandpa, as he is son's family dog. So cute when he is sitting on my lap and DH comes home. "Grandpa's home" and puppy leaps up to greet him and get a treatment!

I am hopelessly in love with my Granddog.

tryingtobebetterallthetime · 09/09/2019 21:18

Treat not treatment. Really autocorrect?
